At least GL did a quick flash of almost all of the previous opening titles at the start of the last episode (that happened right? I didn't imagine that just now did I? haha). I wish all soaps' powers-that-be knew that little touches like that really go far with the longterm soap fans who like stuff like that :)

I LOVED THAT GL OPENING! They were stupid to get rid of it for that annoying hands opening, which should have only lasted like a day or 2 for the anniversary. Also that one would have worked perfectly with their new production model that they had for the last few years, but no...

1952 – 1955

1955 – 1956

1956 – 1967

1967 – 1970

1970 – 1974

1974 – 1975

1975 – 1981

1981 – 1982 (Guided Lightning)

1983 – 1986 (My Guiding Light in Amber)

1986 – 1991 (My Guiding Light in Blue)

1991 – 2002 (HOTL really lasted 11 years, just in different variations)

2002 – 2003

2003 – 2005

2005 – 2007

2007 – 2008

2008 – 2009

Not counting the different variations of the same openings, they had about 16. Am I missing any?

That was from 1981 – 1982, it was Guided Lightning or Guiding Lightning. Part of the great P&G Facelift, I think it was the only opening out of all their soaps that didn't work, hence My Guiding Light in 83, same visuals, just different music.

You may be right maybe mid-83. I know up until Conboy retired the 50th anniversary opening, it was GL's shortest lived opening. Funny though, the disco opening was replaced by a very popular opening and the lifesavers/50th anniversary opening was replaced with a bad powerpoint presentation.
