The notes were just all over the place and she(like every other lameass popstar) didn't understand that less is more. Sing this anthem like you love this country. And Christina does try to hard with the voice. She has an amazing voice outright... no need to be trying so hard to match Whitney/Mariah circa 1990. Its sad, really. Christina had the vocal talent that should have been able to sustain her mainstream success alot longer than it has. I think this display proves she is so far beyond relevant, its not funny. If you had told me 10 years ago Britney's career would be in a better position in 2011 than Christina's I would have laughed... not laughing now. But I guess in modern times, we are cursed to have to suffer through every bitch in the universe trying to do some imitation of Mariah. Who needs notes or time signature, just slow it down or speed it up any way you please, and sing nothing but runs, so one doesn't recognize the melody anymore. Just sing the freaking note. No one will ever accuse the Backstreet Boys of being musical giants, but they just sing the song, hit the notes, and yet put their own little Backstreet spin on it and this is sort of the opposite of Aguilera. Neil Diamond was never known for holding long notes, and he just sells it by singing like he believes the words he is saying. I guess that is the mark of whether or not it is a good rendition: can the crowd sing along. Aguilera downright sucked. The song was painful to listen to.
