Remember that endless night where The Blackmailer (I guess it was Vincent) kept breaking into Fancy's room and raping her, and then she would go downstairs and cry for a while, and then they would just put her back to bed and it would happen again?!

That's part of when the last years (of the NBC run anyway) confused me. How much of it became about rape? Wasn't Luis also raped? And didn't Alistair rape Theresa again and again? Was this written as rape?

After Gwen heard Alistair raping Theresa and TURNED UP THE RADIO so Ethan wouldn't hear, I pretty much stopped expecting them to treat rape like anything resembling a serious subject.

It wasnt just the young females, but the older ones as well and the men. Katherine was raped. Pilar and Liz were revealed to have been raped when they were younger. Paloma and Kay were almost raped but got saved. Ethan was raped by Theresa. I think Pretty raped Luis. This is from Wikipedia

Sexual Violence

Another recurring theme on Passions is sexual violence. Many storylines, especially since 2005, have included rape as a plot point.

In 2005, so many plotlines came to involve an element of rape that fans began to refer to that year as the "Year of the Rapes". Early that year, Paloma Lopez-Fitzgerald was sexually assaulted and nearly raped during a club raid. The show then carried a plotline over whether they should do a rape test while Paloma was in a coma (at the time she was a virgin) and Jessica Bennett was also raped a few weeks later while at a club. Also early in the year, Alistair Crane repeatedly raped his wife, Katherine Crane, while at the Crane Compound. Late in May, heiress Fancy Crane was nearly raped by a man in Las Vegas who demanded "payment" for letting her into a party after she lost her invitation. During the tsunami and later in November, Liz Sanbourne attempted to rape Julian Crane at knife point. In August, Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald was raped by Alistair Crane when she refused to pay him (with sex) for helping her with visitation of her infant daughter, Jane; Theresa later married Alistair, and he continued to rape her throughout their marriage. Also in August or September, Kay Bennett was attacked by a gang of men while walking through the park at night, though Fox Crane soon arrived and the two defeated the group. Liz Sanbourne also revealed during the tsunami that Julian Crane had raped her in Boston many years previously (she later revealed that it had been Alistair who had done the deed, thus producing a son, Chad Harris-Crane).

The most prominent rape storyline began in December 2006, when Crane heiress and police cadet Fancy Crane was raped during a sting operation designed to catch a peeping tom. The brutal attack left Fancy in a brief coma and emotionally traumatized the young woman. Fancy was also the show's first rape victim to visibly experience prolonged effects; her bubbly demeanor disappeared, and she became extremely nervous and could not stand to be touched for several months. Fancy was eventually raped for a second time in January 2007, and her boyfriend, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald, was framed for the crimes; the rapist was later revealed to be Vincent Clarkson, Fancy's biological half-brother through their father.

Rape also played prominently into the 2007—2008 storyline involving Mexican drug cartel leader Juanita Vasquez. Sometime between the births of Pilar's second and third children, the Lopez-Fitzgerald matriarch returned to her native Mexico to visit with her childhood best friend, Juanita Vasquez. There, she discovered that Juanita's husband, Carlos, was still involved with his family's drug cartel and was planning a hit on a rival family; when Pilar confronted Carlos, he raped her, and she accidentally killed him in self-defense. Pilar then called the police in an attempt to stop the hit, but the police ended up murdering the entire Vasquez family, including Juanita and Carlos' young children, except for Juanita. Juanita refused to believe that her husband had raped Pilar and made it her life's mission to murder Pilar's entire family, eventually murdering Pilar's sister and two nephews.

Men on the show were equally as likely to be violated as women. Fox Crane, Julian Crane, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald, Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, and Ethan Winthrop have all been victims of sexual assault.

Dang, this puts OLTL to shame

Yeah, Ivy was completely wasted in the last few years (I LOVED Ivy, she was definitely the Passions version of Kate Roberts). I even remember when Grace discovered what Ivy did it was almost such a non-issue. I really wonder what JER had planned. I mean, I'm glad it was addressed, but it was just not handled well at all and then Grace "died" and it was all swept under the rug.

That whole thing was oddly planned. I wonder if it was a scheduling thing with Dana Sparks or the cancellation announcement (that was around that time I think) that caused them to drop the story of the reveal, etc. If the show were still around, I could almost guarantee that Grace would be back.

If anyone keeps up with the PassionsTV on youtube, they've just posted the episodes of Ivy crashing Ethan/Theresa and Luis/Sheridan's double wedding. LOVE IT! Ivy was such a strong character. It's a shame that she fell to the backburner for the last four or five years of the show.

At the point she's at now, I was completely hooked into the show. Never missed a moment. I'm not sure what year this is (I'm thinking 2001), but it's my favorite. Never a dull moment with these episodes.

I wish JER was still around to explain what he would of done had the show not been cancelled. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't he heading back to do a 3rd stint on DAYS as headwriter before he died? Funny how his script writers managed to fill that position just years later. I wonder is Lisa deCazotte will ever speak about it.

I'm currently in August 1999 and still loving it. Theresa just put on her ridiculous disguise to become Ivy's assistant. Sheridan is in Harmony making sparks with Luis and Kay is a delightful witch. I'm loving how soapy everything is and I don't mind the pace at all. I didn't mind it originally and I don't think I will since I already know how slow it's going to move. I just watch and enjoy everything.

There isn't one story that stands out to me as bad. My only complaint is the lack of story for the Russell's. They primarily work as talk to's and the actors in that family are so interested. ESPECIALLY Lena Cardwell as Simone. I can't believe she didn't become the star of that family. Did Simone ever get a story with her in the role? I'm also ready for Whitney, Eve or TC to do something.

Lena's Simone was never given much at all to do. She panted after Chad but I don't recall her Simone ever getting a storyline. 2000 was a really great year for the show, too. Lots of fun storylines.

That's a shame. I remember really hating the second Simone. She always seemed to have a bad attitude and she couldn't act. That was my first Simone.

Yeah, the second Simone was just rough. Bad. Didn't fit. The last Simone was better. Lena Cardwell was the best Simone. I wish she had stuck around. Her and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were real finds that were wasted as very supporting characters.

Does any one remember the episode where Lynn was exposed, the who Russell family was there and everyone kept dogging her out but I swear to God Lynn said nothing for like 15 minutes into the episode. She just had her mouth open in shock. I could not believe she did not have anything to say for like 15 minutes. It was so crazy. I'll never for get it.

My favorite Jessica was Jade Harlow. I actually am friends with her on facebook. It's really cool to talk with her after being a fan of her's for so many years. I was UPSET when Jade was written off and that horrid Danica Stewart took over. I think my first exposure to Danica on Passions she flubbed her lines. Heck, the girl that replaced Kirsten Storms on DAYS for a week or so would have done way better than her (and that's saying a lot.) She got to star in an NBC web soap opera?!?1?!?1 Well, at least Jade is on THE BAY now!!!
