OLTL: Discussion for the week June 9-13

I have to say that Keyes is the hottest thing I have seen in a long time. And it might be BECAUSE of the shades. Uh... and the biceps. The whole demeanor makes me absolutely weak. And I'm a top.

ANYWAY........ LOVED Tina! I'm curious about the whole story with the jewels. Tina knew Ramsey had them, and had the money ready to pay for them, but Jonas was harrassing him by phone to find the jewels? Did I miss something? I wasn't sure if Tina had arranged for the disappearance of the jewels, so she could run off with them, and I was under the impression that Ramsey stole them to give them to Marty. And why would Tina need them stolen if she already possessed them as the crown princess of Mendorra? I wasn't clear on it at all. The two random thugs didn't make any sense to me either.

I really enjoyed Hunt Block, and I consider him an asset to any show's cast, so I'm sad to see him go. But Ramsey was a real bastard, so I still kind of enjoyed seeing him get plugged and go down like a sucka. It's refreshing not to see a long drawn out death scene and just see someone go down and stay down. Hope Hunt Block lands somewhere else on a more permanent basis. He's good at corruption, so maybe he should go be the new mayor in Port Charles.

I'm curious about Tina naming her dog David Vickers! And I love that she always uses the full name when talking to the dog. Little purse dogs really are the hottest accessories these days for overpriveleged divas. She wore him well. I'm assuming Tina still has a fondness for David, in order to keep a token as his namesake with her wherever she goes. It makes me really excited to see Andrea Evans' first scene with Tuc Watkins because I think they both do humor and camp really well, so I think they'll play fabulously off of each other.

HOT moment when Todd said he hired Keyes for his muscle and kinda looked at his body. I was expecting them to start making out, but that would be a whole different soap. Damn, I walked away disappointed from that one.

I liked the new clarity from Marcie. Kathy Brier played so much inner conflict in those scenes yesterday, she's really a joy for me to watch. But it shows Marcie's grown for her to say she's fine with the judge's decision (to not give her back Tommy/Sam) and that she acknowledges that Tommy is "gone".

Starr/Cole are kinda bugging me, but I think it's because I want them to start drawing battle lines and stop being so naive about this whole situation. It's kind of the start of this, but Cole keeps tip-toeing around and being so sweet to Starr when he really needs to grow some balls and tell her not to give away his kid. That's not to say I think they should raise the kid, but I know that's what Cole wants. And from a viewer perspective, I'd rather see the trials and tribulations of Starr and Cole trying to raise a baby, OR for Starr to give her child to Marcie (just don't know how Blair or Cole would allow that to happen) still without Todd knowing Starr ever even gave birth, only for Todd to find out months later that Marcie's new baby is his grandchild. The longer this goes without Todd knowing anything, the better the payoff of the story is going to be. Todd will just go ballistic! I love it! I can't wait.... but I want to!

So eager to see Tina with her family members, I have no memories of Andrea Evans' Tina interacting with Viki, and she's never worked with the actors playing Todd or Sarah..... actually Tina didn't even have Sarah yet when Evans was in the role!

And the biggest question for me is CJ................. Will they ever address what happened to him? Anyone remember the last mentions of CJ? I do, but I'm quizzing you all!

I loved Tina calling her dog "David Vickers." Do you think OLTL could ever revisit that piaring again? I missed it the first time around, she says, hanging her head in shame.

DES, it's so funny what you said about Todd eyeing up Keys. TSJ really seems to have this vibe where he plays on the underlying sexual tension in every scene he has -- including Starr, Cole and John, of all people.

LOVED seeing Kevin Spirtas back on Daytime. He was gone too long.

Ryan, just let me say that your banner is gorgeous. That picture is all kinds of classic soapy goodness. It should be illegal for a picture to be so damn delicious.

And I agree with the hoYay with Todd and Keys. This show reeeeally likes to push the homoeroticism, doesn't it? No qualms with me :P

That's how I read it, definitely. Or like that scene in The Godfather Part II where Michael kisses his Judas brother on the mouth. I read an analysis somewhere that implied that Todd was practically threatening Cole with rape. I thought it was a really brave acting choice on TSJ's or the director's part. But he's pulled that "sexual predator" card with other men on the show, LOL. And with Starr, which can be very troubling to watch.

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.

    • The stories are awful. I'm not enjoying any of them. All I'm left with is Sally in a plastic dress.
