OLTL: Discussion for the week June 9-13

Oh, I'm not putting FF fans down AT ALL, Kstaff. I understand she has a VERY loyal fan following, and that's totally cool. I just wish I saw the attraction myself. But I guess I can see it. She's fun, she's spunky, etc. I just wish she was a little more natural. JPL seems so seamless in his portrayal. I feel like I'm watching a real three-dimensional person, while I feel like FF's always thinking what her next line of dialogue is.

LOL it is not.......but was it or is it ever?? ;)

I like Rex and Gigi but since it seems like it will be forever and a day until they become an item of any kind I would not mind a fling between Todd and Gigi. I liked when they teamed up against Ramsey, I guess he is not a problem anymore.lol

I am new to OLTL and Tina's character but think she may be lying about being a princess?

Please don't be offended Kstaff. I've really liked some of her work. But the particular scene they gave her the kudos for would not have been one of my choices. And with all the outstanding performances of that week, I just didn't think she was the one that really stood out. Plus Nelson Branco has such over the top praise for her IMO and I've almost made it a policy to never agree with Nelson. <_<

This was the first episode in a few that I was fast forwarding like my life depended on it LOL. I still can't believe Ramsey was shot like a piece of leftover meatloaf or that the previews for tomorrow show

:o

What's up with Rex being a PI and not following through on his suspicions. I suppose one could say that he was blinded by his love for Adriana, Roxy, and Gigi and his hope in Charlie. But, it'd be nice if he used some of his smarts on his own life so that he doesn't seem like a dimwit because he never tried to find out the truth.

Farah's pretty bad and John's not been as good as sweeps, IMO. He's like reverted second-string Rex of '07. I want the potential lead he was in May back, please.

I like that Starr doesn't want the baby. Shows more good writing by adding tension between Starr and Cole. It's about time those two broke up. I'd love to see Cole with Langston, please.

I miss Dorian LOL.

I like the cliffhangers during the week. If Nash fell through that skylight on Friday last week, I don't know if I'd be able to function last weekend. Hehe. More cliffhangers during the week, please.

Oh, and can someone explain the Tina/David Vickers history? What is up with that?

Just look at the Natalie/Jared storyline and you have Tina and David. David pretended to be the long lost Lord heir while he and Tina were heavily attracted to each other even though he was her "brother" and ended up getting involved. The two ended up getting married but Jean, one of Viki's alters blackmailed David into leaving her and forced him to marry Dorian.

For me....that was the line of the day.

I liked that scene....they were driving down the road and Tina said "There's Llanfair." And then picked up David Vickers paw and said "Wave to the nice people David Vickers."

That was my favorite scene of the day. :)

Remember that after being forced to marry David (whom she found disgusting at the time), Dorian hired a hooker, dressed just like her, and then once David was asleep, Dorian got out of bed, had the hooker get into the bed....then came in and pretended like she found him in bed with another woman.......and demanded a divorce. (I may have some of the details wrong on this, as it was about 13 years ago......but that's about the jest of it).

    • I like that there are a lot of local performers on this soap and I'm glad they've resisted so far on hiring too many soap performers.   Cady has been awkward on the show thus far and Jon seems to have polarizing as well. I say focus on the local talent and giving those people a job and exposure.. and leave the P & G soap opera performers in the past.
    • Who do you think would be good for the show among the ATWT/GL cast?

about it I think Jan is a fine supporting part for a solid daytime vet (probably someone from the P&G soaps), as opposed to someone from the production location who is clearly cheaper. Which seems to govern some casting. I get the rationale, but I would start going through the ATWT/GL, etc. rolodex myself.
    • I dont mind Jan. She's good in the minor capacity she is used.
    • tbqh I don't care about Jan, I don't care about Ashley and I think Jon Lindstrom as Joey is an acquired taste. Jon is a great actor but certain things are in his zone and then some are not. Some days I find Joey credible and compelling, but the stuff with him hanging around the Golden Corral, grumbling about Doug and bitching at Randy is not amazing. If he had material on par with what MVJ wrote for Ryan/Kevin on GH back in the day it'd be a different story. I do think he has real chemistry with Vanessa, which is in large part due to MVJ clearly molding that character (and hiring an appropriate actor) in the Lucy Coe vein when she reinvented Lucy in the '90s as well. But I am not here to spend 6+ months watching Jon glower a lot (which is what he's doing half the time to carry weak story) and make more vague dire pronouncements while Jen Jacob gets flustered and weepy over "Daddy" or whatever would come of that storyline. Putting them together sounds like a recipe for doom to me. But I may be in the minority on that.
    • I know this will never happen. But... Halle Berry as Dani Dupree(BTG). She would rock this role, it's in her wheelhouse.
    • When I see how bad the Ashley/Derek scenes are, I know there must be a larger purpose and Joey being her father is the thing that makes the most sense.  My take on it is that Ashley knows Joey is her father but doesn't know Joey. Maybe he was there when she was a child or just not around at all but I believe Jan when she says she didn't lie to her daughter about who her father was. Maybe she left him when she discovered his dangerous lifestyle.  I do think they could really jump start the character of Ashley if they hurry and do this. Jan is a great character and her scenes with Ashley have been helpful. This would further integrate Ashley into the canvas and give her something dramatic to do. With her working at the hospital along with Doug, it could lead to complications if she learns Doug is involved with her father. I just need is sooner rather than later because Derek is tanking her character. I need a distraction.
