The fact of the matter is that Guza is already claiming that having Michael shot was done to appease the audience. He is never going to deal with what irks many viewers because he would prefer to invoke the viewers ire as a means of justifying whatever shocking thing he chooses to do. There is no possible way that he came to the illogical conclusion that people saying Michael should pay for what he did to Kate meant they wanted Michael to be shot in the head.

This would have been different in terms of consequences if Michael had accidentally shot himself or a family member with legitimate fallout.

I will say that I think something happening to Michael is the one that has the capabilities of affecting the most people. It is what probably could create the most amount of emotional drama and turmoil. So that point I actually get.

ON THE OTHER HAND, saying that this is Michael's punish for the gun, saying that it would make fans feel better about the slap on the wrist he got about getting the gun, and that GH has been nothing but glorifying violence is all a bunch of BS!

At the moment I am seeing the drama and emotional turmoil in this story. It is keeping my interest. But I am not holding my breath for Guza to tell the story correctly and actually keeping it an emotional story.

I dont see anything wrong with shooting Michael. I dont agree with the train of thought that him getting shot is a consequence for him picking up a gun. I think it should be more of a consequence of the life Sonny leads. His life affects those around him and it was only a matter of time before one of his kids got hurt. I think thats where they should be focusing this on and really bring about a real change bc for him to go back to leading the violent mob life as if nothing happened would have made this all a waste. Even with Carly, this should bring about change and stop her from seeing Sonny and his life through rose colored glasses and realize the true nightmare which is her family's life thanks to association with the mob. They make light of it and this story should cause them all to rethink their current positions. Id have killed Michael off and really gone for the full effect

Yeah it has the potential......but we're not going to see the side of the story that a lot of people want to see. Where's Bobbie? Where are the Q's? Will Sonny/Carly say anything to Morgan? Will will see Morgan's reaction, or even Kristina's? Where's his FAMILY? Only Sonny, Jason and Carly are Michael's family?

Instead all we see is the MOB angle and that is the only angle Bob Guza wants to tell.

^^Completely agree with you there Toups. That is why I said at the moment I could go along with the story because it is dealing with those aspects that are in the potential. I am not looking at this with blinders on because I know at some point the potential and real focus of where the story should go will be lost to only the MOB aspect.

    • I recently edited an older episode to do a Denise Alexander edit but Mo was in scenes & I had forgotten that back then he was actually good at his job.  The contrast with today is well alarming.

"Brenda. I quit the business! It's done!" The. End.
    • Sonny looking down at the floor today and for a few episodes is worse.  LW at least brings energy and Steve seems engaged. I would cut Mo at this point.  The love fests with Laura and on and on with everyone.  Just go find Brenda off screen and beg for her forgiveness.  THX, BYE!
    • I'd checked out of Y&R for a couple of years because it was boring as... I returned in August because the Sharon story sounded intriguing. I know some hated it, but let's face at least something was happening! It was a solid use of vets and on-screen history. I honestly don't get the Dumas storyline at all or the premature end to the Sharon/Phyllis kidnapping. The latter story actually could've gone on for months. Alan playing cat-and-mouse.  It's like they also did a 180 on Billy/Phyllis - the Valentine's Day dream, Billy *saving* Phyllis and a month later he kicks to the curb! What??? That's completely illogical based on their history. Please let Mariah's secret be a good one. At least, Daniel/Tessa/Mariah have a non-business related storyline!
    • Nahh, Bill is through with Danielle, but I am getting so sick of her "all about me" attitude, so I am here for his shade.
    • She is being forced on the audiences again; she and Sonny are the "gruesome twosome". Even Jason has been pulled back and made more tolerable this 'go round.
    • Carly is 100% part of way too many stories.  We are all pretending like Laura Wright is bringing something new to the table as Carly.  Laura Wright is serviceable and has great hair, but she's not Sarah Brown or anything.  She's fine and I like her but she's not doing anything special as Carly.  She's just floating around currently.
    • Yes, they are new pictures of him.
    • I would submit to you that she doesn't need any more excuses, not when it comes to Bill. But, I am one fan who thinks Bill isn't done with Dani & also the reverse is so. Those two, IMO, are locked in some kind of toxic but  irresistible vortex. I'm not saying we're going to have scifi. Just the personality kind of vortex. OH!!! Thanks. I don't do Y&R. But I totally understand anger even frustration with Josh.
