Faulkner Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) Wow. Fognini is up 6-4, 5-0 on Rafa. Perhaps Roger sensed an opportunity with a less-than-healthy Nadal playing clay this year. Edited April 20, 2019 by Faulkner
DramatistDreamer Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 Looks like all those who penciled in Rafa into the finals may have gotten ahead of themselves.
Faulkner Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 LOL Rafa avoids the bagel. I wouldn’t bet on it, but it also wouldn’t surprise me if Fabio lost this match from 6-4, 5-0, 40-0 up. OK, Lajovic-Fognini M1000 final it is. Stat:
Faulkner Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 Fabio would go to a career-high #12 with a win, while Dušan would go to #19. This is why I appreciate Zemek:
DramatistDreamer Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 Zemek had no choice, LOL, everyone screenshots things these days.
Faulkner Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) That is true, but I’ve seen Ben Rothenberg make huge mistakes (like posting incorrect winners before matches end with scores) and not own up to it, even when called out for it. I don’t have a lot of faith in journalists admitting errors or jumping the gun, so it’s refreshing to me when they do. DramatistDreamer Members Share Posted April 20, 2019 Can't remember the last time I really read anything written by Ben Rothenberg and his tweets I've already learned to take with a grain of salt. It's unfortunate that expectations have to be lowered where tennis journalism/journalism is concerned but as a soap fan who still watched regularly until a few years ago, I guess I realized that we're all just going on low expectations these days. For me, the post pressing question about today is whether Flavia Pennetta says anything to Carlos Moya if/when she sees him in passing.

Oof. I didn’t even think about that. Tennis is such a small world.

DramatistDreamer Members Share Posted April 21, 2019 My guess is that neither Fognini nor Lajovic will be playing Barcelona or whichever tournament they were next scheduled to play.

Yup....the tourney is stacked though...with Sascha taking a wildcard. Most of the ones that were entered in MC are in Barcelona. Not a Fabio fan but better than Nadal winning again. Fabio can be a complete ass but he is a complete ass capable of playing some beautiful tennis sometimes.
