NBC DAYTIME WINS ITS 300TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK IN THE VALUABLE WOMEN 18-34 DEMO

'DAYS OF OUR LIVES' AND 'PASSIONS' ARE #1-2 AMONG WOMEN 18-34 FOR THE SEASON

NBC DAYTIME IS TIED FOR #1 IN THE WOMEN 18-49 RACE THIS SEASON AND #1 OUTRIGHT AMONG WOMEN 18-34

BURBANK, Calif. ? October 20, 2005 ? NBC Daytime finished #2 for the Oct. 10-14 week in daytime's key demographic of women 18-49 and ranked #1 in the valuable women 18-34 category. The victory among women 18-34 marks NBC Daytime's 300th consecutive week leading this demographic. The current streak of NBC wins in this category started on the week of Jan. 3-7, 2000. NBC's "Days of our Lives" and "Passions" are the #1 and #2 daytime series this season among women 18-34.

"Days" (1.9 rating, 12 share among women 18-49, 2.1/13 among women 18-34) tied for #2 for the week in the women 18-49 race. "Days" was #1 among women 18-34 for the 524th time in 531 weeks (including ties).

For the week of Oct. 10-14, "Passions" (1.2/8 among women 18-49, 1.5/9 among women 18-34) tied for #10 in the women 18-49 race and tied for #2 in the women 18-34 category.

Season to date, NBC is tied for #1 among women 18-49 and is #1 outright among women 18-34. "Days" is tied for #1 in the women 18-49 race and is #1 outright among women 18-34. "Passions" is tied for #7 among women 18-49 and #2 outright in the women 18-34 category.

According to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research for the week of Oct. 10-14, averages among women 18-49 were: ABC a 1.7 rating, 11 share; NBC, 1.6/10; CBS, 1.4/9. Women 18-34 averages for the week were: NBC, 1.8/11; ABC, 1.2/8; CBS, 1.1/7. In total viewers, averages for the week were: CBS, 4.2 million; ABC, 3.1 million; NBC, 2.6 million.

For the season, averages among women 18-49 are: NBC, 1.6/10; ABC, 1.6/11; CBS, 1.4/9. Women 18-34 averages for the season are: NBC, 1.8/12; ABC, 1.2/8; CBS, 1.1/7. In total viewers, averages for the season are: CBS, 4.1 million; ABC, 3.0 million; NBC, 2.6 million.

ABC’s Daytime drama lineup was No. 1 for the 40th-straight week among Women 18-49, ABC’s longest winning streak since the one ending June 2000, with a 1.8 rating and a 11 share -- delivering 1.2 million Women 18-49 for the week of October 10-14, 2005. This was ABC’s best performance in the drama lineup since July 2005 among Women 18-49. ABC’s Daytime drama lineup outperformed CBS’ by 24% and NBC’s by 18% in actuals among Women 18-49. The lineup was up 6% versus the prior week among Women 18-49 (only network up). Among Women 18-34, the lineup was up 15% versus the prior week (most growth). Among Female Teens, the drama lineup was up 68% versus last year (most growth).

ABC’s full Daytime schedule was No. 1 among Women 18-49, with a 1.7 rating and an 11 share — delivering an average audience of 1.1 million Women 18-49. This was also ABC’s best performance in the full lineup since July 2005 among Women 18-49. ABC outperformed CBS by 20% and NBC by 9% in actuals among Women 18-49. The lineup was up 4% versus the prior week among Women 18-49 (only network up). Among Women 18-34, the lineup was up 9% versus the prior week. Among Female Teens, ABC’s full lineup was up 68% versus last year (most growth). During the 1-3pm time period (the only two hours NBC programs), ABC scored its 40th-straight victory (including ties), ABC’s longest winning streak since the streak that ended in November 2001, with a 1.8 rating and an 11 share, delivering 1.2 million Women 18-49, beating NBC by 16% in actuals.

ABC delivered three of the top five daytime programs and won three of four time periods this week among Women 18-49:

· “The View” delivered a 1.3 rating and a 9 share – delivering an average audience of 820,000 Women 18-49. The talker outperformed the combined half-hours of “The Price is Right” by 8% and “Guiding Light” by 7%. Among Female Teens, “The View” scored its best delivery in eight weeks and was up 60% versus last week and 78% versus last year.

· “General Hospital” was the No. 2*-ranked program, scoring its best delivery in nine weeks, with a 1.9 rating (* tied with “One Life to Live” and “Days of our Lives”) and an 11 share -- delivering 1.2 million Women 18-49. “General Hospital” was up 3% versus the prior week among Women 18-49. The drama outdelivered its time period rival, “Guiding Light,” by 63% for the week and is outdelivering the drama by 59% season to date among Women 18-49. Among Women 18-34, the drama scored its best numbers since April 2005 and was up 8% versus the prior week. Among Female Teens, the drama was up 34% versus last year.

· “One Life to Live” was the No. 2*-ranked program of the week, with a 1.9 rating (* tied with “General Hospital” and “Days of our Lives”) and a 12 share – delivering 1.2 million Women 18-49. This was the drama’s best delivery in eight weeks and it was up 7% versus the prior week and 4% versus last year (only program up) among Women 18-49. Additionally, “OLTL” outperformed time period competitors “As the World Turns” by 47% and “Passions” by 49% for the week, and for the season the drama is outperforming “As the World Turns” by 44% and “Passions” by 32% among Women 18-49. Among Women 18-34, the drama had its best performance since the May 2005 sweep and was up 21% versus the prior week and 5% versus last year (only program up). Among Female Teens, the drama was up 170% versus last year (most growth).

· “All My Children” was the No. 5-ranked program, with a 1.8 rating and an 11 share – delivering 1.1 million Women 18-49. The drama was up 7% versus the prior week among Women 18-49 to post its best performance in one month. In Women 18-34, the drama was up 16% versus the prior week. Among Female Teens, the drama was up 14% versus the prior week and 33% versus last year.

Season to date, ABC Daytime’s drama lineup ranks No. 1, with a 1.7 rating and an 11 share — delivering 1.1 million Women 18-49 – outperforming CBS by 21% and NBC by 10% in actuals. In the full lineup, ABC Daytime is No. 1* with a 1.6 rating (* tied with NBC) and an 11 share – delivering 1.1 million Women 18-49, outperforming CBS by 17% and NBC by 2% in actuals.

Based on last weeks report, ABC nosed up in demos and CBS jumped in viewers, while NBC stayed the same in both.

Wow, OLTL gained +2 in the 18-49 demos with a 12 share with DAYS, while GH and AMC only had an 11 share. So it looks at least in demos OLTL had a good week, cant wait to see the overall numbers.

I hope PSNS falls a lot, its awful. So I am hoping DAYS gets back to a 2.6, possibly(but doubtful a 2.7)

Glad to see DAYS be so dominant in the 18-34 demo, .6 away from #2 PSNS. Other soaps have to be right behind PSNS though in that demo.

AMC jumped .2 in demos. By the looks though total viewers and HH probably stayed near the same if ABC's numbers were unchanged. Unless OLTL or GH lost some and AMC gained. Oh well anxious to see the whole story. AMC has been picking up.....
