December 12, 200619 yr Member I've said it before, and I'll say it again: There is NO. WAY. ED is not coming back to DAYS in the near future. If it doesn't happen, it might very well be the biggest disappointment ever (at least for me, personally). I second that. I also realize that because the DA part could be small, there's no reason why she couldn't do both shows. I do believe, however, that she's already signed with DAYS from what I'm hearing, but who the hell knows, it could be a one week guest stint.

December 12, 200619 yr Member Just the reaction alone that Kristen is alive and well will be priceless. Marlena needs a rivalry again, since the show continues to waste an oppurtunity with a Kate vs Marlena rivalry. They should not be anywhere near friends these days.

December 12, 200619 yr Member Please, Jesus, let it be true! ONE WEEK GUEST STINT? BOOOOO!!! Kenny, I don't have the best sources on this one. I'm like 50% speculating. So with that in mind. I'm hearing that DAYS may not be able to afford Eileen for a whole year, but is (or has) worked out a deal to have her come on and establish E.J. as Susan's son. For sweeps in May, they might have her do Kristen and Susan for a month, but all the word I'm getting is that the budget is determining everything. She may have signed on, that's the rumor, but I'm hearing it will be a limited engagement like 4 months or something.

But I don't want it to be temporary! I'm gonna go cry.
December 12, 200619 yr Member I will cry too. I mean why are they going through all these cuts? The cuts had stopped and the minute ED becames available bye bye RJ and SR (even though it seems they aren't leaving permanently) and then we hear of more cuts. It's hard to think Days' budget is that bad with all that they cut. It's better to have her for a little bit then not at all but if that is the case then it makes me even more angrier about some of these cuts. Hopefully, it's a more permanent return. Perhaps if Days sees better ratings they will be able to make the situation better as well.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Maybe DAYS will see how ED's arrival will affect the ratings, with an increase maybe the budget will become bigger as well and then DAYS could sign her long term. I hate all these budget cuts for all of daytime, why don't the head honchos demand a new way of determining the ratings more realistically so the shows could have more money to help the shows improve? I miss location shoots, big events that actually look real instead of cheap ass special effects, etc.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Oh God, no. I mean, one DAY is better than nothing. But I don't want it to be temporary! I'm gonna go cry. Don't start crying yet. I could be flat out wrong. I'm only passing to you what little gossip I've been able to get on this matter. It's impossible to predict because DAYS is really topsy turvy right now. They are INDECISIVE about everything. PHOENIX, The ratings aren't too hot. They were averaging 2.7 and 2.8 before Sheffer's name went on the credits. That's not a put down in any way, but if you look at all the cuts and all the indecisive announcements, the sudden changes then changing back again, the firings. It's a show that's really having difficulty in transition. They may not know what to do with ED "long term" since she wasn't originally in the plan. There's no guarantee that she will be a hit the second time, and Sheffer is not Reilly. He might make her BETTER or he could have a total bomb on his hands. He may not even like the Susan/Kristen character and don't forget that ED is a very expensive soap star. Y&R pays their people TOP DOLLAR and she's not used to the pay cuts that Bo and Hope had to put up with. Not to mention, she's already said that she has enough money to retire and take a rest right now. It's not like she needs a soap gig. If they want her, they will have to pay her what she was making at Y&R, probably a lot more since she will be working much more. I don't know what's going to happen in this case, so don't hold me to it. But I hear she's signed on for less than a year.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Oh I get that the ratings are down a bit and I see what you are saying. I know every little bit counts but the ratings are not down by much from where they were and Corday admitted the transition was very hard for Hogan and that he is just starting to find his footing. Judging by the SOD article, it seems Corday and Hogan were well aware of the backlash to Hogan's writing thus far so I am sure they expect better numbers now with the couples coming together and stories finally heating up. Hopefully, the ratings will start improving now. I know they will have to pay top dollar but with all the cuts and more on the way one would think they would have enough. I worry that Hogan may be lost as far as writing her too but she does seem like the type of character he would write for and he does his research so I have no doubt he will be at least true to character with her. We'll see. I will agree that Days seems indecisive about everything lately. I mean we learned RJ and SR were out and now they really aren't totally. It seems like the ED news tempted them and now they are straying from their original plan and wondering where to go and what to do. It definitely seems like a lot of upheaval.
December 12, 200619 yr Member honestly i'll take a year..that would be a good run for the character..don't get me wrong..longer would be great..But i'd rather have her back for sometime, then not have her back at all...

I don't know what's going to happen in this case, so don't hold me to it. But I hear she's signed on for less than a year. See, all that is exactly the reason I've been too afraid to jump on the "ED is DEFINITELY RETURNING" bandwagon, because if it doesn't happen, it'd be way too much of a letdown and I'd be piiiiissed. Days budget has been cut. And as you said, ED was paid very well at Y&R and wasn't worked to death. I can't imagine her coming to Days and working more just to be paid less. Despite the fact that she was a gem in the role of Kristen, Y&R is much more ED's style. And like you said, we don't even know if Hogan's interested in or even likes the character of Kristen. Sure, EJ is probably Elvis. But Hogan said from the start that he was going to keep EJ's identity as JER left it -- a DiMera. So, making him Susan's son doesn't necessarily mean that Hogan is interested in bringing Eileen back... it might've simply been establishing him in a family and going from there. He doesn't have to bring ED back to do that, or to tell further story with it. And even if Hogan LOVES Eileen, he might simply not know what to do with her or how to fit her into the stories that he's surely already planned out for the next year or so. The budget is also a huge issue. But I want her back. I'm just afraid that if she comes back short-term, she'll leave and another show (daytime or primetime) will snatch her up and she'll never come back full-time, even if her return is left open ended. I'll definitely take four months over nothing, though.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Just a thought ... couldn't EJ be established with Kristen? Does it have to be Susan?
December 12, 200619 yr Member Just a thought ... couldn't EJ be established with Kristen? Does it have to be Susan? Doesn't have to be Susan. Not if Kristen escaped from her caribbean cell, killed Susan and has been raising him as her own all this time, LoL.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Kristen kill Susan i dont think so, i think Stephano Killed Susan and Edmond and took the baby away from them thinking Kristen was killed or murdered by them somehow...then we could still get the Kristen is alive payout...for everyone!!
