December 3, 200619 yr Member Errol stated that if the ABC soaps tank during sweeps expensive actors will be cut. Megan McTavish is safe until April. That's when they can ditch her and also will coincide with the end of the 6 month Zarf arc. They aren't going to replace the HW in the middle of this story. So who is going to be cut? Well there is hardly anyone left. James Mitchell HAD to have been bumped to recurring in November, but it probably won't be confirmed until the updated opening is revealed. Eileen Herlie also will be dropped early next year, if she hasn't already. But neither of them had expensive contracts anymore because they both have re-signed since Frons has been in power. Susan Lucci is safe, MEK and Cady are safe. David Canary is iffy. So that leaves: Walt Willey.
December 4, 200619 yr Member I think that if Walt leaves it will be more of a mutual decision between him and AMC. He has complained about the writing in the past so maybe he wants out and the show is willing to let him out of his contract. If Myrtle and Palmer have been bumped to recurring, I can't think of any other vet that would be let go. I can think of lots of new characters that could be fired: Sydney, Sean, Colby, Annie, Del, Zarf. Are we so sure that McTavish is safe until April? She might have a thirteen week clause in her contract where she could be fired at the end of the cycle. And didn't someone estimate the next one would be around Jan./Feb.? And I think the best thing for the Zarf or any other storyline would be for her to be fired even if it is right in the middle of it. I suppose it is possible that she has some kind of iron clad contract where she can't be fired until after a certain time. I sure hope that isn't the case though. They would be better off buying her out now and saving the show. That will save and help the budget more in the long run. I am so ready for her to be gone so I can watch AMC again. And don't forget Carruthers needs to go too. She is part of the problem.
December 4, 200619 yr Member Walt is finished. They won't cut David Canary.... I don't think but who knows. He seems to be front burner and has lots of storyline potential with the whole baby story.

McT isn't going to leave before April, and probably she won't even leave then. Even IF she has cycles (which apparently she doesn't, she's on annual cycles) there's no way they will do a change in the middle of the Zarf story. Nor would she be talking so much in the media. We all known she hates socially relevant stories and the idea of writing for homosexuals so I guess this was a last ditch attempt to save her @ss, but Frons will be more than happy to give it to her, so that's at least 6 more months. Walt is finished. They won't cut David Canary.... I don't think but who knows. He seems to be front burner and has lots of storyline potential with the whole baby story. I just read the worst Erica/Jeff spoiler, I'll post it in the spoiler section. Definitely not looking good for Walt. Frons' comments about Tad and Dixie bonding, and Zach and Kendall getting back together have come true. The only one that hasn't is Jack & Erica's "destiny" coming back full force. So clearly something has changed and it's not gonna be good. I wonder though if the WTD story is something they're just holding onto to in case they need to write out David Canary; there's no momentum to it.
December 4, 200619 yr Member Even if McTavish is on annual cycles couldn't she still be fired?? I imagine they would have to buy out her contract but why couldn't they do that? I say every AMC fan pitch in a dollar and we will buy out her contract and fire her ourselves!!!!
December 4, 200619 yr Member If Walt Willey is out it's only because he was run off just like all the fans and other actors on AMC. As for McTavish, they need to do something and get rid of her. BUT since they had this primetime Emmy winner and didn't want him, things will never change. People always focus on the specific writers, but until Brian Frons is taken down ABC daytime will continue on the road to game shows.
December 4, 200619 yr Member If AMC continues to fall in the ratings or even if they stay the same and Frons still doesn't make changes, then AMC probably will be cancelled. Since he can't figure out that the writing and producing is horrible, maybe someone higher up will fire him and then fire all the writers. You would think somebody at the Disney/ABC company would recognize that their is a huge problem and try and correct before it is too late for AMC and possibly OLTL. I am just so frustrated and disgusted by their lack of action. No matter who they bring back or what gimmicks they create the results will be the same until they get a better leader and writer. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.
December 4, 200619 yr Member I don't think McTrash will be out at all if the Zarf storyline does well, I think that will give them an excuse to keep her around and not have to buy out her contract.
