PSNS: Sheridan's acting

Featured Replies

McKenzie Westmore's true acting abilities have shone through now that they've added a new dimension to Sheridan's personality for her to play up. This "dark" Sheridan is really interesting. Even without the supernatural twist they've given it, it makes perfect sense. She can't have the man she really wants, which is her fault, so she's gonna be mad, and act out, and not take responsibility for her actions.

Some say it's character destruction, but I don't think so. Eventually, Sheridan and Luis will reunite and we'll all be happy. :)

I'm glad she stopped being so whiny.

What's this supernatural twist? I thought she just developed a backbone.

I don't want to give away too much, but it's explained tomorrow for you Yankees. ;)

Actually, I give it away on the spoiler board in the Sher thread if you're curious. Page three.

I will agree that MW's acting has seemed better lately, but all JER had to do was give her her backbone back, not make her a full-fledged Crane ala Alistair, Julian, Beth, etc.

Agreed HoganStays.

Sheridan with a backbone would be fine. MW has been much better and I am happy about that.

Rion, what has happened to Fox, Sheridan, and to some extent Julian is character destruction. Julian going dark again should've been gradual but they rushed it. Fox going bad is fine but gradual. Sheridan should never go bad because it's been part of her character since day one that she is the sweet and good natured part of the family. She was always like the anti-Crane and JER is going against that. Sheridan getting a backbone and fighting for Luis would've been fine but again it should be gradual. You just don't make changes out of nowhere and force them to accomodate story. I don't care if there is a supernatural cause that came out of nowhere or not. It makes no sense.

The Crane curse has not been a part of the show. Julian and Alistair were the only two baddies until recently and now Fox and Sheridan are with them for God knows why. Beth doesn't really count because she was a wacko before even knowing she was a Crane. This curse crap is a joke.

Awesome post, Phoenix. You basically summed up every problem I have with Sheridan turning bad. It goes against everything we were supposed to believe about Sheridan from the very beginning, and that's why I hate the idea of her suddenly becoming 'evil'. It's absurd.

The Crane curse is about pain and sorrow. That's always been a strong element in the show.

Now, the twist to the story is about the Cranes not allowing their lovers to leave them (as evidenced by Alistair's past actions).

Fox's and Sheridan's bad sides have been triggered because they can't let go of their lovers, and they will fight to keep them. After Whitney's actions against him, I can see why Fox would not let Kay run over him. Sheridan's pain has led to her bad behavior. How many characters in fiction USED to be good but something or some things triggered them to change? It happens in real life, too. There's not a timeframe placed on when a person snaps.

It makes sense to me.

It does make sense but it happened too fast. When Justin Hartley played the role, he always provided layers giving you a sense that someday Fox could go bad. With Wystrach, he can't act so we don't see that. All we see is a goofball and then we see Fox go from good one day to complete Crane the neext. That is crappy writing. They should have had him start off with simple schemes and then gradually have him become more unhinged and have the schemes turn more evil. That would make much better sense.

With Sheridan, you just can't do this. You can make her insane and if that is where they are going then that is fine but it doesn't seem that way. They are making her into a the anti-Sheridan and are going against everything the character is. You can give her a backbone and have her do some bad things but she is actually becoming demonic. They would be better off doing a posession story with her then explaining this as the Crane curse affecting her like it's common cold or something. A person can snap but you don't go from one extreme one day to the other extreme the next day and that is what they did with both Fox and Sheridan.

As much as Julian's return to the evil side was forced, at least it was somewhat gradual and in keeping with the character and his flaws. It wasn't totally exceptabe but was tolerable. The Fox and Sheridan stuff is not acceptable or tolerable and will not help the show in the long run (or however long it has left) at all.

what supernatural things are they doing with Sheridan?

Cheap, he means the "Crane Curse." I think he's confusing plot device for supernatural.

Sure, it's a plot device, but it's one that makes sense within the story. Don't worry--the curse will be reversed, and Fox and Sheridan will be good again. This is only happening for a certain time period.

Sorry but her acting still seems forced and stiff. The fact that I can TELL that she's acting makes it all the worse. The last time MW was good was when she and Beth were going at it. Just my two cents.

Mac was even better today in Canada. Hopefully you agree!

Yeah but it won't erase the crap they are giving us. GMAB. This whole thing came out of nowhere. I have watched the show since day one and there was no Crane Curse until recently. It's JER's lame excuse to cover up destroying characters left and right. None of this makes sense and all you have to do is read my last post to see why.

You're wrong, though. I have also watched the show since day one, and Tabby has referred to this curse many times. She hates the Cranes because they led the witchhunt against her, so she cursed them.
