I was on Wikipedia and came across this...

Carolyn Conwell is a Chicago-born American actress who plays Mary Williams on The Young and the Restless. She is returning in early 2007.

:huh: ^Does that mean she's returning to Y&R in 2007? If so I'm thrilled, Y&R needs to get their secondary characters back. Plus she was on one episode of Knots Landing, and didn't LML write that stuff?

Makes some sort of sense, because isn't Paul suppose to be featured more next year with Lauren and Brad?

I want to see Lynn back too.

I am glad to hear this.

Also glad that it wasn't my first instinct, which was when actors/actresses reach a certain age, they have passed on. Really glad to know this wasn't the case

^Does that mean she's returning to Y&R in 2007? If so I'm thrilled, Y&R needs to get their secondary characters back. Plus she was on one episode of Knots Landing, and didn't LML write that stuff?

Conwell's KL episode was during its first season (she played a prostitute who made chummy with Gary during his fall of the wagon). I don't think LML was involved with KL at that point, but I'm not certain.

Heh, I'll have to go back and look for that prostitute! I remember which episode you're talking about, but I didn't know that was Mary Williams!

BTW, I don't believe Latham (along with husband Bernie Lechowick as co-headwriter) arrived at Knots Landing until the 7th or 8th season.

Ma Williams is a riot. She and her church friends are hilarious - I wonder if she was stuck at the Vatican the last couple of years we haven't seen her?

I'd like to see Mary back. She was the epitome of the protective, loving mother. A little meddlesome (to say the least) in Pauls' love life though. I'd also like Traci Abbott back, but I know that's probably not happening. I could do without Lynn. Never liked her goofy, Paul infatuated behind.

I always took Lynne as the type who, if Paul was upset about a case, would drop down on her knees to make him happy. Wish someone would slap her around every now and then (Lauren, I'm talking to you).

I freely admit I always found him incredibly attractive and thought he had enough going on to at least be a soap hunk if he had the right pairing or character. But probably not strong enough to make AJ into an actual character.
This is exactly part of the problem I think Shelley Curtis was responsible for during that time on GH. I don’t see this coming from anybody but her. It did give us the fantastic scenes with Laura and Katherine at the Ball though. Much like Michael’s conception, it was an inherited thing Guza spun into gold when he came back in late 1997!
BTW, I also want to make clear that I love Shelley Curtis and think she should be working on soaps, either DAYS or GH right now, and both shows would be better for it. I just think it was kind of a rough patch at GH and the beginning for me as a viewer tuning into a soap and seeing it fully populated by huge actors from other shows consistently. I can imagine how OLTL fans felt when JC and GR invaded after Rauch pushed them out at Another World!

B&B: Launches BBTV app with entire library

Subbed this morning, and the quality is really nice, as is the audio. Rewatching from the beginning, too. I was in "season three" via YouTube, but watching on my TV is a whole new experience. Quality is even better than what streams on the "live channel" via Prime Video.

It might've been one of those stories that started before the strike and then became a total mess once the scabs got involved. (You know, like Sonni/Solita on GL, lol?). Regardless, just the premise of Travis inadvertently causing his own daughter to be kidnapped...that's something you can't come back from as a character. They might as well have killed him off at that point.

My mom was born 18 years after my grandmother's oldest son so these age gap do happen in reality enough where soaps can use them without seeming too unrealistic. Usually with soaps it's used as device with half-siblings and there's no indication that Joey and Heather are half-siblings.

I don’t know. I agree with @DRW50 that Leigh fit the part, although Damian was kind of underwritten compared to the other characters of the era anyway. Ashford is a good actor, and some mitigating factors hurt that story, including John Beradino’s health and death. I cannot imagine Matt Ashford being a good fit in the seduction bet story with Lucy about Bobbie/Tony though. If anything, maybe Reilly should have kept Matt and GH got Mark Valley as Tom instead?
I also feel like while I liked Felecia Bell as Simone, she was never going to rise above supporting player. Both Laura Carrington and Stephanie Williams had more going for them as Simone and had more capability to rise up from the strictly supporting level. The right Tom and right Simone could have made something of what they wanted to do there with the whole story, Justus and Felicia Jones included.

I'm with @DRW50 and @Taoboi : whatever @Vee had in mind for Serena's return was bound to be better than what we'll actually get from the folks who are paid to write the [!@#$%^&*]. (If they don't end up pairing her with "Nassius," I'll buy a hat with the expressed purpose of eating it).

Was that a writer's strike story that the writers had to finish when the strike was over? Or was that a story that the writers came up with post strike?
I know Depriest was the one to pair Jack and Erica when she took over as head-writer...and it kind of made sense since they started as friends with him trying to convince Erica that Travis no longer was in love with her and eventually they fell for one another. Jack in that period had more of an edge and a ladies man aura that was nipped in the bud when Nixon came back as head writer in 1990.
I viewed their dynamic from the early 90s till the end of the show as this: Jack was Erica's fall back guy and never her first choice while Erica was Jack's true love. That Libizone story highlighted that clearly when the two were on the drug and Jack is confessing his love and desire for her while Erica calmly lets him down explaining that she cares for him..but only as a friend. Her true object of desire during that period was David Hayward.
To me, Erica's best pairings were Dimitri, David, & Travis. All three men were strong willed and didn't let her walk all over them.
