Ok, now I really don't have a dog in this fight because I just started watching the show this year and never got to see the old Lilly until this weekend.

First of all, Dru Rocks you started this thread with an attitude that sent me away because I saw it as a race comment and a slap down but then came back and re-read it. I don't really care HOW black someone is. Why does it need to be brought up in conversation by anyone? If it was somewhere I must have missed it, so maybe that is where some of the feelings are coming from with other posters as well???

My problem with the Lilly issue comes from what I saw this weekend is that they are two totally different Lilly's. And to be honest I didn't recognize the old Lilly when I first saw her and I was shocked that this was the same character. Perhaps that's how some also feel about the actresses who play/ed Victoria. BUT, I see Dru when I look at Davetta's Lilly and when I went back to watch the other Lilly I didn't get a connection at all to either Dru or Neil who supposedly raised her. Children emulate their parents and it was missing from what I saw of the first actress (pardon me for not knowing her name). And to be honest, I have come to really adore Lilly since I started watching the show and I feel terrible for how she has been treated.

Oh well, either way I'm going to miss the Davetta's Lilly. And all I can hope for is that the actress coming back has picked up some lessons while she was gone. I don't want to see that Lilly that I saw this weekend on the flashback Y&R episodes at all!

IMO, Davetta's Lily is much better than Christel's Lily. I just think she (Davetta) is better in her scenes... she's more emotional. She's a great crier, by the way.

I hope the rumours are true about her coming to DAYS.

Just finished reading this thread & have enjoyed everyone's thoughtful posts. Personally, I much prefer Davetta in the part and agree with those who have stated that Christel was miscast to begin with. Seeing Davetta as Lily only further drove that home for me. She played the Lily that I and many others had always envisioned. Christel did not live up to that expectation. Simple as that.

Don't be. I love your posts. Everything has pretty much been covered here (I'm pretty late chiming in). I'll just say that maybe it caused such an "uproar" because of how Davetta was let go. She wasn't even told to her face. She was told via her agent. That's messed up. I thought she was a really good young actress and enjoyed her scenes with Dru the most. I liked how she and Daniel called each other "Baby" and how much more maturely she played the character. Yes, she had her moments of immaturity, but so does Dru at times. To me, that made her all the more believable as Dru's daughter. Also, I NEVER liked and was overjoyed when the original left the show. When I heard there would be a recast I was UPSET, that is, until I got a taste of what the recast brought to the table. The actress turned a character I had loathed for years into one I am going to really miss.

Could it be that the Producers want Khalil back in the role because she is "neutral" looking next to her white husband and therefore less offensive to people who don't like interracial couples? I've heard some people say that.

I totally think that's the reason. I honestly do.

It didn't take the show long to change the pictures for Lily Winter's MySpace. Today was Davetta's last day as Lily and Valley Girl will return Tuesday, I believe. They had her all over the promo for next week.

The last comments for her "friends" had me cracking up though.

I was savoring Davetta's last day and what I'm sure will be the last day of my brief 10 month run as a Lily fan.

crc, I (thankfully) didn't see any promos with Satan!Spawn!Lily, could you tell me if there was any improvement from the bits you saw? Don't laugh, I'm keeping my fingers crossed she took at least one acting class while she was away.

I'm really dreading next week. I wonder how her first scene with Victoria Rowell will be. Those two are just so awful together and Lily/Dru has been a very important relationship with Davetta. I predict they'll put Lily back with Neil like they did with Khalil.
