Looks like the emmy's will be held in June. That's already half of the eligibilty process in to next year contenders. I know its just a month more from May. But, June just seems so far.

They probably don't get the ratings to air in May anymore. And with most of the nominees and winners being crappy ... I honestly don't care much anymore, lol!

Looks like they're keeping it in LA so maybe CBS plans to actually DO something with this? Their last show was TERRIBLE, so short and they didn't even bother with showing clips. If they do that again I'll be so pissed, but really the winners will probably be call GH which doesn't deserve it.

BTW, the programming will still be between January-December 06.

All I know is that if JFP/GH win again this year(and I believe their nomination this year will be well deserved), that CBS does us all a favor and cut the [!@#$%^&*] off again.

For ONCE in a LONG time if GH wins next year, I won't be upset.

What has GH does this year to deserve an Emmy? They might have the tapes, but I think that the writing and recycled/poorly thought out stories have only gotten worse. The only improvement is that they feature more characters.

I follow GH/ATWT/Y&R and from what I've seen all three have been uneven. I can't really call a clear cut winner. ANY show can produce two good tapes, which is why I don't know why Y&R paired the brilliant Cassie's death with the night of the Phick affair.

GH has done good on some angles, and in some cases it wasn't really mob heavy. I liked the abortion stuff, the epidemic was good, Lucky's alcoholism wasn't that bad, and now with the return of Laura...

I just heard some rumors of Laura's return and if true, this story will be another ruined return. I won't say what because it's VERY bad and it could be a rumor now. But I think the reason Laura's return works is only because of the actors. Same for everything good on GH. For example, Laura's mother is not there, yet Sam will be involved in the story. Gh is only using Laura for sweeps, they don't care about the character or the story, just ratings for sweeps. If sweeps go well then Guza won't get fired.

BTW, I'd say ATWT has been the most entertaining with Y&R close behind. Both have lots of tapes.

ATWT - Jenn's death, Perfect Storm, Halloween Gala

Y&R - Brad/Victoria wedding (also had Neil/Dru reveal), something for the Carmen mystery, John's death.

But it all depends on the tapes. Hopefully Latham's faster more primetime style pace will help it at the Emmys. The only reason GH won the past two years were for those sweeps stunts. Y&R's scripts are more entertaining now and easier to get into.

The best thing out of ATWT was the Luke storyline. The Slasher and Perfect Storm were stupid gimmicks.

GH winning just wouldn't disappoint me this year, that's all.

ATWT/Days/GL/Y&R should be the 4 up for best show but most likely it will be ATWT/GH/AMC or GL/Y&R which is wrong but we all know GH will use it's emmy bait and get it on again. Those 4 soaps deserve it and were the 4 best all year. Sure, they all had ups and downs but not as much as AMC, B&B. GH, Passions and OLTL.

I heard the rumors about Laura's return too and it's yet another GH ratings stunt with no purpose other then to get sweeps ratings and go back to crappiness again, just like the rest of ABC. Their sweeps and emmy gimmicks anger me .

But there truly isn't any top soaps...

Going on FAN REACTION alone, I can safely say that B&B, AMC, OLTL, and PSNS were the worst soaps this year.

I also don't think DAYS will have anything to submit this year, but next year should give them a shot. B&B has been largely terrible, but if they use something from Felicia's cancer, I could see them getting a nod.

I forgot about Luke, but you're right, that was great as well. It should definitely score Van Hansis a win, but the overrated Tom Pelphrey will get it. I agree that Perfect Storm and Raven Lake were gimmicks, but I do think Perfect Storm was exciting and pakced the emotional punch to win.

Just look at the stupid garbage GH won with, the PC Hotel Fire and the Trainwreck. I especially thought the trainwreck was awful, barring the special effects.

I take it the people voting don't want soaps so they need to submit stuff that it going to draw the random viewer. But if GH shows anything with Laura, nostalgia among the people who've heard of Luke and Laura could get them the award. Even if they did deserve it, i wouldn't want them to get it after two wins when everyone admitted they shouldn't win. Jill Farren Phelps even said they didn't deserve the award and that Y&R should've gotten it last year.

ITA Dru. GH(with Guza flying solo) isn't hot, but at the same time, isn't cold either as it has been the last few times they've won.

Couple that with one of daytime's best acting companies(next to, IMO, GL, Y&R, and ATWT), and GH has the material to win. Although, I really hope the award goes to GL for age and sympathy!
