Best News highlighted in Bold B)

Thanks to Oceanview at SOD/SOW at the Nick/Phyllis site who does an INCREDIBLE job bringing us the Y&R news! :)

Victoria Rowell got PERFORMER OF THE WEEK! :D

Mentions that PB has done some of his best work yet, but misses his wimpy side.

Segement Called Soap Talk!

Y&R - Script Writer Janice Ferri Esser

-Loves writing for Gloria/Jack/Michael./Phyllis. Would pay to watch CLB/MS read the phonebook

-Eavesdrops on teen conversations for speech patterns, when it comes to "teens."

-Some actors ad-lib (CLB) while others take it and use it as a blueprint and riff off of it.

-She writes for ALL characters and storylines.

-The most powerful line (scene) that she ever wrote was the scene where Jack discovers he isn't really dead. Jack walks into Victor's office, pours himself a scotch. The desk chair is turned away, then the chair slowly turns around; Victor is sitting there. No lines, just locked eyes.

Jack Smith is still being wooed by B&B. He will miss writing for Michael and his relationship with MTS and EB.

Christel Khalil first scenes are with Neil, Devon, Daniel and Phyllis. They may re-shoot some of Devetta's stuff. They always wanted Khalil and was upset that she left, so when she came back, they were thrilled. Still no comment on DS firing.

Victoria Rowell on Khalil..."Christel is a good actress. She's always done the part justice," says Rowell. "I enjoyed working with Davetta. I felt she complemented the Winters family and, most definitely, the mother-daughter relationship. There was a gritty elegance about Davetta that mirrored Drucilla. I was sorry to hear she was no longer a part of the cast and I wish her the best in all her future endeavors."

Ugh at the Christel love. She SUCKS. Y&R ... what the hell are you thinking?!

Rowell summed up Davetta as Lily perfectly. It's obvious Rowell doesn't much care for Khalil.

Good for her & she's spot on. Davetta embodies the Lily that should have always been there, while Khalil embodies the character we were originally given. The one thing I will say for Khalil is that she had amazing chemistry with Graziadei (more than Davetta IMO) and she was a good actress. But now that we've had Davetta, it's like a bottle of Bud Light compared to a bottle of Dom. Christel is Bud Light.

Davetta did complement the family very nicely. After she got her feet under her, she truly was a part of the Winter family and I thought she sold the role of Lily, as Dru's daughter.

I forgot to add Khalil said she's surprised on how much Lily has grown up and plans on bringing soem of that maturity to the role.

I agree. It's sad to see the show regressing but I'm glad Victoria was recognized.

As for the writers having favorites, if Phyllis is one of hers, why is she such a waste of screen time? I've never been so bored by MS.

I totally agree with Victoria.

I loved Davetta as Lily and agree with Victoria..."the gritty elegance that mirrored Drucilla". Why on earth are they doing this? Is anyone happy that Christel is returning?

  • Member

Nope. And so it seems the bigwigs are forcing actors like Victoria Rowell to say nice things about (ergo Lynn threatening Rowell with no story) the Kahlil child when it's obvious that she can't stand the whiney snot.

There's some around here, I'm not one of them though... and it seems that the ones that dislike it, seem to outway the ones that don't. And I totally agree with VR words on Davetta's Lily.

I have one thing to say: if they always wanted CK to stay... why recast the role? If they didn't want no one but her in role, then they should have just let her stay away until she wanted to come back... and that was less than a year (or a year give or take) anyways, so it's not like a recast would have mattered.

I know Victoria Rowell would praise Davetta's protrayal of Lily...Davetta really brought Lily some spunk and a little attitude....she definitely mirrored Dru when she was first introduced to us....Christel's Lily does not compare to Davetta's....It's going to be interesting seeing her in scenes...

Because CK was being an annoying larger than life ditz that ignored her mother and agent.

Ocean used to be an avid ATWT poster here :( I miss his/her insight.

I think that's really ridiculous to suggest especially considering Jeanne Cooper talked about how pissed she was over lack of airtime and she ended up with a story. I think Rowell is being civil and mature about it. She didn't say anything glowing about Khalil, just the standard politically correct response. I love that she had something so personal to say about Davetta, it shows who she enjoyed more.

I am dreading the return of Khalil. Now I'll have to go back to fast forwarding Dily and probably her scenes with the Winters as well.

IA! I'm dreading her return. When I first started watching Y&R regularly, I couldn't believe that CK was playing Lily. She was so whiney and valley girl-ish which is the exact opposite of Dru and Neil. I didn't mind her but once Davetta took over, I took a real interest in Lily and Daily.
