Dusty is such a useless character. Is he supposed to be tough or is he supposed to be this sweet guy? B/c he acts like such a jerk to the majority of the characters on the show, yet as another poster mentioned, we all know that Craig is going to lose out in the end b/c St. Dusty always get his way. If they made him some kind of anti-hero, it'd be different, but he's just a jackass IMO.

Also, I'm so sick of seeing Lucy. I think she's been on every day this month so far!!

ITA! The whole thing w/ Carly and Lily was SOOOO plot-driven! Just so Carly could bump into Lucinda and talk about Simon's mis-deeds. If Carly was such good friends w/ Lily, why didn't she visit her in the hospital when she was in the coma? We even saw Jade visit her!!

Today's show was ok. My favorties scenes were Lily's homecoming and Craig/Emily scenes. I wish Will and Gwen would just catch Jade and reveal her lies.

Not that I necessarily liked the Carly/Lily friendship, but as long as TIIC weren't going to show Carly visiting her palsy-walsy, (no doubt due to budget constraints, 'cause no one really gets out of their bubble) why not "make" story out of it....ie, that Carly found it too painful to visit her bestest friend while in a coma, because her sister was in a coma also thanks to Craig?

It would have filled in some newer viewers, primed Craig's return a little bit, and given Carly and Simon (yeah, I know) something else to talk about other than Mike/Katie and whether they should have sex. Or gawd forbid, Jack and Carly could have discussed it, in between pointless snarking at each other.

I swear I don't think everybody's gay, but NuCraig definitely gives me that vibe for some reason. I do think he's attractive and a decent actor.

God how I miss Hunt Block. Every line Jeff Meek says, I can hear it in Hunt's snarky voice. He just gave Craig LIFE. I'm still trying very hard to give Meek a chance, but.....

I still hate Lucy. The scenes with her and Craig nearly had me falling asleep today - they're both so blah.

Jade better hurry up and invest in a bunch of pillows if she wants to keep this charade of a pregnancy going. She can't keep wearing the tight T shirts and tank tops much longer.

And I'm sorry, but as much as I thought I'd like a Carly/Simon pairing, I dislike it just that much! I thought Maura had chemistry with just about everyone, but their scenes seemed forced to me.

As the World Turns is basically a character-driven show.

I know,I know with the Raven Lake and Perfect storm story-arcs it has slipped into the plot-driven mode as of late.

Generally speaking,the show hasn't normally resorted to stunts,daydreams that seem real but never happen,etc. I am afraid with the ratings success of Raven Lake we are headed toward a more plot driven show.

That is my opinion. After 34+ years I may be a bit biased. It still is the best on the air!!

I think it's odd that you'd comment about this on a ATWT episode discussion thread w/o wanting to cause trouble, but maybe I'm just reading into it the wrong way. B/c I've tried to get into Days and couldn't, but I wouldn't say that on a Days thread. But I do understand what you are saying, and I'm glad that you brought it up b/c it's sometimes good to hear from people who aren't consistent viewers of the show.

Anyway...ITA w/ everything that oakdalelover mentioned. As someone who grew up on ATWT, I'm definitely biased in my opinion of the show, but I do know that the show can be boring at times. There's no denying that fact. But when the show is good, it's absolutely amazing!

It's just that generally the show is extrememly character-driven, so you have to get invested into the characters before you can become interested. That's really easy for me b/c I've known the bulk of these characters since I was 3-years-old, so obviously any storyline they're involved in gets me excited (no matter how bad the writing might be). Plot-driven storylines (like the recent ones) don't do a lot to me. I'm a big fan of continuity and how a certain storyline is going to affect multiple characters, not just 2 or 3 individuals.

Maybe Days will be #2 by December. But I think it's a general fact that ratings success does not always equal quality. If shows like B&B and GH could have been the #2 and #3 shows for as long as they were/have been then that obviously proves that the ratings success and show quality don't always correlate. IMO, I think that a show that is consistent in the ratings is the best...which is what ATWT has. So, aside from the bad demos (it's a P&G and CBS soap, so of course it's demos will be less than Days'), I think ATWT is in a good spot, and I don't need it to beat B&B or Days or GH, or pretty much any other soap, to be happy.

There was no need to bring Days into your conversation about ATWT. It is obvious what u were trying to do. Just because Days has gotten better doesnt mean you need to act all high and mighty.

Exactly. That's how it came across to me too, which is why I'm confused. There are dozens of times when I watch an episode or storyline in general and say, "Man, this is boring!" but I'd never say, "ATWT is a boring show".

So, if you're referring the episode, or maybe even the show lately, I understand.

But if you're referring to the show overall, then I definitely don't agree.
