I love how they've managed to keep that distinctive ABBA-sound, yet it doesn't sound dated at all. It's exactly how I imagined that ABBA would sound now.

I love things that sound dated :) I think their 2 new songs so far certainly have that "Abba" sound. I like them a lot. They don't knock my socks off, but I do really like them. I hope they break sales records right and left, I'll be anxious to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.

alphan, you have been blocked since you first started claiming all 50+ women were in on a scam years ago so don't expect me to respond to you now.

Cosby will never be who he was - a respected star and authority - again. He will never draw massive crowds or enjoy implicit respect, and he will never work in major entertainment again. He will die as this - a serial rapist who walked on a technicality. That's the only solace and the only justice.

Thus ends my ever giving Phylicia Rashad a fraction of my time again:

He doesn't need to work again. He's rich, he's old... he's been ready to retire for years.

Listened to the rest of the songs now, and... not impressed. Albania is, in my opinion, by far the best entry this year.

Poland has one of the better songs as well, and there's something about the Icelandic entry that appeals to me.

Malta has clearly been inspired by Netta's win for Israel a few years ago. The song isn't bad, but it's nothing special either. A fate they share with Sweden, the UK and Greece.

And there were some really bad entries in this second half as well, like Russia, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Georgia and the worst of them all, Latvia.

I like Denmark as well. The song would have better with a stronger vocalist. It kinds of reminds me of a SAW tune. My favorites 5 in order are:

    1: North Macedonia

    2: Iceland

    3: Portugal

    4: Albania

    5: Denmark

Scrolling through more of the Eurovision vaults, good Lord... how wonderful that someone has uploaded all these preselction broadcasts... I'm enjoying the hell out of them.

@BoldRestless Jeanne Cooper's birth date is October 25, 1928 so she was 45 when she started on Y&R in late 1973 and 55 when she had the facelift in early 1984. Compare how Jeanne looked in that age range to current female cast members in that age range, ie. Amelia Heinle (47), Sharon Case (49), Lauralee Bell (52 in December), Michelle Stafford (55), and holy difference.

Same goes for the males. Eric Braeden (born April 3, 1941) was 38 when he started on Y&R in February 1980 and was 48 at the end of the 1980s. Compare how Eric looked in the 1980s to current male cast members in that age range, ie. Jordi Vilasuso (39), Donny Boaz (40 in December), Greg Rikaart (43), Jason Thompson (44 in November), Joshua Morrow (46), and once again holy difference.

1970s/1980s styling I think played a big part in why those in 40s and 50s looked so much older than what we're used to seeing those in their 40s and 50s look like in 2020.

I can tell you what the majority of the aging came from. Cigarettes.

Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia might have something to say about that 😉

In any case, Vasil has been cleared, and will continue to represent North Macedonia with the same song in Rotterdam.

Wonderful news. The complainers can just sit down and eat their poop sandwich.

So it’s been a bit quiet on this thread since all (well almost all) songs were revealed. I’ve updated the first post with more of the official Eurovision videos, so feel free to check them out if you haven’t already.

Betting odds on average have Switzerland and Malta almost tied for joint favourite, with the former having the slight edge. North Macedonia are currently “reviewing” their participation due to the backlash following the unfortunate depiction of a Bulgarian flag in the music video for their entry.

And allegedly there is a new song in the works for Belarus, but we won’t know the outcome of that for a little while yet...

Meanwhile, 60 days until Semi Final 1!

It's been backlash from a bunch neanderthals, it thinly veiled homophobia and we all know this. I've been telling these people they need to turn back into Yugoslavia.

  7. Many are criticizing this, saying it was inappropriate for network TV, and it was degrading. I have to agree.

I see Cardi B. in general as a modern day materialization of a blaxploitation film. On a more positive note, Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak provided the best Grammy performance in YEARS... and gives one hope for the future. I literally can not WAIT for this album to drop. I predict is will be the #1 selling album of 2021.

I don't watch The Talk either and I'm not familiar with Welteroth but I read she was the one who lodged the complaint of Oz's treatment of Sheryl.

Sheryl exhibited MAJOR restraint during that on air tiff. I think we also might have an idea now why Marie Osmond bolted after such a short time on the show. Just the toxic environment... because as we all know, Mormons have their own racial baggage.

Mary was definitely the core of the group seeing as she was the only member to stay on for the entire duration of the group. Gordy was all about crossover to the pop charts and Mary's voice was too soulful for the initial effort Motown made in music. By the time Mary did go solo she didn't get the right material. She was a good singer, but never got the material she should have received.

She did get some good material that was right for her, it just wasn't released as singles, because Motown was so fixated on following the disco trend. I've always said the latter day Supremes should have had Mary mostly on lead, and went into panty droppin music, and stay out of disco.

Speaking of the Grammys, I loved Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s performance as Silk Sonic. Nice, respectful yet whimsical take on ‘70s soul.

Plus I’ve been listening to Quiet Storm all weekend on Spotify:

Oh, LORD..... that is amazing!! When it comes to quiet Storm, check this little known Stylistics song, so beautiful I can hardly stand it.

I wouldn't use those exact words, but of course they had an agenda. They didn't agree to do an interview out of the goodness of their hearts. They wanted to tell their side of the story, and that's perfectly fine. But that's all it is, their side

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would have the same feelings towards an interview with William and Kate as I do towards Harry's and Meghan's. It would only be their version from their point of view, not the absolute truth. Sorry if that disappoints you.

Interesting that you only seem to focus on the racism. I don't recall ever saying that I believed that Meghan wasn't subjected to racism. All I said was that people seemed to believe everything that Harry and Meghan said. There were other topics mentioned in the interview, like Harry's relationship with his father and brother for example. Not everything was about Meghan.

You're reading way too much into what I wrote. Maybe I didn't express myself clear enough, and if that is the case I apologize. But again you're only focusing on Meghan. Harry was part of the interview too, and the examples I made were meant to be about the relationship between Harry/Meghan and the rest of Harry's family. At least that was the intention. Maybe that didn't come through enough.

Try not to let him get to you. He's a bully with a chip on his shoulder that thinks everyone else in the world is the reason for his failure in life. The second you say something he can twist, under the bus you go. Your statement was prefectly clear and unbiased. Don't let it give you a moment's doubt. You owe an apology to nobody.

Honestly, if they replaced it with a third hour of TPIR I doubt anyone would truly care.

Or second hour, whatever, lol. It matters little.

Do a 1 hour Million dollar pyramid. You get to the winner circle the 4th time in the hour, you go for a million bucks. Why are any of you surprised at this turn of events? We're speaking about a woman who used to mail her TURDS to her enemies.

Swedish final tonight - arguably the frontrunners seem to be:

Eric Saade - Every Minute (came third in Eurovision 2011 with Popular previously):

Charlotte Perelli - Still Young (previously won Eurovision 1999 with Take Me To Your Heaven; finished 18th in 2008 with Hero)

The Mamas - In The Middle (won last year with Move, obviously didn't represent Sweden because co-vid):

Tusse - Voices (new to the competition, has had cross-over appeal in airplay):

The Tusse song is the one I like the least. Charlotte Perrelli is my favorite of these 4.

Hahaha!!! I knew that SUGAR song would be over here.

Wow. This list/thread looks like fun and I'm always looking for new music. :)

There is so much goodness to be had in the Eurovision vaults, no matter what style or era of music you like. I will say this, if you look at ALL at 1973, just look up the studio recordings of the songs, as the sound mix at the contest that year was so dire, it's almost unlistenable. The strings in the orchestra are not heard at all, and the brass just blares out at you, and literally knocks you out of your chair. Especially disappointing for me, since my favorite ESC entry of all time is from that year (Ey Sham) And if the foreign language aspect of many of the songs bothers you (It doens't me), the vast majority of artists recorded an English version of their song. Although the tranlsations are quite wonky at times.
