  1. How much longer until DAYS gets new writers? I can't take this anymore.

I don't mind Daniel, I just think he's being played as a hero, when he should be played as a bit of a manwhore with a...unique code of ethics. It'd certainly create more legit story for him.

From what ive learned, they do pay attention to all outlets of feedback, but esp snail mail. Sony, i believe, uses focus groups & indie research. Online is basically just what fanbase is the loudest and most obnoxious.

    4. JaneAusten

      JaneAusten

lol thanks. I kind of figured that because so many actors have said much of this. I wasn't sure about DOOL but I do know that ABC and CBS uses or used focus groups and snail mail heavily

  2. Went to apply as an assistant script editor for Emmerdale...and none of my script files will carry over to an acceptable format for them to view. UGH. This is what I get for finding out about the job the day of the application deadline. HOWEVER, this gives me the chance to prep for the next opportunity. *keeps thinking positive*

I was the same way, with Youtube. Around late 08/early 09. That's probably the only reason I got back into the soaps, especially the end of the P&G soaps.

    3. beebs

      beebs

Exactly. I think GL's cancellation was a wake-up call for me. That was the show that got me into soaps in the first place, and to see it go was heartbreaking. But if no one's learning from past mistakes, they're doomed to repeat them.

I love GH around that time. Only time I was really into it.

  5. Friend picked me up for a birthday brunch today...ended up in a 5-car accident caused by a couple who had just committed armed robbery, stole a car, filled it with drugs, and fled on the highway. After hitting us, they sped across two lanes of traffic into the back of another car, then the couple fled on foot down the highway. Everyone's okay. But I only JUST sat down to brunch. HUNGRY.

  7. so because things can only happen in extremes, I discovered within the same 5 minutes that my best childhood friends were killed by a drunk driver this weekend, and that the short film I worked on two years ago was accepted into Cannes Film Festival. I really don't know how to feel right now.

  8. This has been bugging me for awhile: Does ANYONE have any evidence of a Ritz Gregory playing Eric Brady on DAYS between 1994 and 1997? Because I certainly never saw him when I was watching during 96-97 (pre-Ackles), and no one on YouTube seems to acknowledge his existance. I assume JER didn't really either?

Eric was never on from the time Sami came to town until Jensen joined the show.

    4. dayswatchersince1965

      dayswatchersince1965

Actually Eric was played by several people before Jensen. A few kid actors, and then there was an actor Ritz Gregory who was on in the mid 1990's who played him off and on. Then after Jenszen left for Supernatural, he played him again for a couple more years.

  9. Just re-read my soap pilot script and surprised to think that after sitting on it for a good few months, it's actually really good. Should I post it for the world to see or should I hold onto it and pitch it to someone...or both?

it just sounded like some plot point stories will be reduced to a week to me, not that every story will start and end in a weeks time. i think its good if they can balance fast, short stories with a long term arc. i do wish they would have learned from the baby swap tho, that was the best they did in a long time

  12. When one realizes that AMC had Trevor call Michael a "f-----" in 1996, the reality that DAYS is playing things WAY too safe with their "gay boy" homophobia comments becomes incredibly glaring.

I remember Kevin calling Luke a f****t on ATWT in like 2006. DAYS' gay boy comment was silly. Who talks like that?

    3. beebs

      beebs

Yep. There's a full episode, atch.

This is what I mean, the show's dialogue is usually fairly good in terms of how people talk, but the whole "gay boy" crap really makes my skin crawl.

      Skin

At least they are shopping Chrishell around, but I always felt she was an all around weak actress who could never generate much charisma, chemistry or talent to excel in any of the key aspects of film work. She's just not an actress who can readily sell drama, romance, comedy or inspire relatability. Which was her biggest problem on AMC. She always had to be carried by her opposite scene partners to make her scenes work.

Because while GH is entertaining again, it lacks heart & depth. Its very comical.

    3. DRW50

      DRW50

      Sometimes only intentionally comical...

GH became a success because of heart and community. I think those are probably gone for good, although with a better writer, that might change.

    4. beebs

      beebs

At least the pieces are there again to make the show more of a community, more than they have been in years. I honestly didn't mind the heaviness of 90s GH. I think a lot of that is down to the writing, and the fact that the cast was generally amazing at that time.

Were the complaints about it not being on tv or about how the Livestream doesn't work properly again.

If someone was complaining about the issues with the Livestream I would get it, as it had major problems in 2019. They used some service, which went down in the  broadcast on both Facebook and YouTube. Two or three of the awards weren't seen as we got a please stand by message. Eventually they posted the missing part on Youtube, but I don't think they did a short version (right away), just had it in the long whole show video, which was annoying as it didn't have time stamps as to when what awards were given.

That said I think the later years on TV weren't good, but they need to do a better job if the streaming stops working. They have yet to figure out the red carpet properly, as ideally they should have someone who knows people from all genres involved, but doesn't have a very obvious show bias (without balancing them out in some fashion.)

    3. beebs

      beebs

Yeah, it was just griping that they want it on prime time on one of the big three networks, as though it's still 1998. I get the nostalgia factor but like... With four shows, it's not like its all that exciting anymore.

And yeah, the live streaming isn't all that good. I just get the results after the show has aired. Award shows are generally tedious to me nowadays anyway. I just wish these folks would stop living in the past.

    4. DramatistDreamer

      DramatistDreamer

I was talking about people who want the awards to be back on TV.  The complaining has been happening every single year since the Daytime Emmys were moved online. The irony is that these same people complain online.

  23. Watching John's 2007 "death" on DAYS just makes me angry. His coming back as RoboJohn after such an intense set of death scenes, it feels so cheap to have yet another "Stefano kidnapped and brainwashed him" story. I get why they did it, but dammit, death means squat on this show now, and John's un-death was probably the last nail in that coffin.
