  1. I wish I could get a little text alert whenever there's a SON meltdown. So much more fun experiencing them live.

      SFK

Understandable.  It would be neat if we could pick either/or.  The only thing that bothers me about the update is the way the status updates are truncated and you're transported to a user's profile page.  An awful lot of clicking going on.

    4. Khan

      Khan

Well, that's a sentence you don't hear everyday!

  3. We recently lost a loved one and if I see, "I'm sorry for your lost" ONE more time on FB, I'm going to SCREAM.  I'm past the point of, "I know they mean well..."

I am very sorry for your loss. As for "lost", I swear that FB is the showcase of bad spelling and grammar.

  4. Anybody else watching SNL?  Demi Lovato is going to blow her voice out if she keeps singing like that.  She cracked three times.  I hope she's not touring anytime soon, I don't think her voice could take it.

I generally think Demi sounds amazing!

    3. SFK

      SFK

I actually liked the melody of that Someone Like You knockoff song, as well as the timbre of her voice, but it's an unsupported voice.  She is singing way too hard from her throat instead of her diaphragm and that's how a lot of singers get nodules and do other types of damage to their voices.  She was acting the hell out of that song and when she dropped her head at the end I wasn't sure if it was dramatic affectation or, "Damn, I cracked 3x on national television and I don't think I'm going to be able to talk tomorrow."

    4. ReddFoxx

      ReddFoxx

I watched the clip and that was extremely rough. It sounded like she already had already over stressed her voice and was further pushing it. Wonderful singer, but painful technique.

  5. Have you ever caught someone on a message board completely biting your idea/comment practically word for word and passing it off as their own? I suppose I should be flattered, but I'm mostly just annoyed.

Yes. Except with me they usually fix the spelling, grammer, and flow because.. well, we all know that aint what im about.

  6. Did anyone catch Byron Allen's two new shows on the CW, The First Family and Mr. Box Office? I was juggling with these shows and FOX Sunday night and the Emmys. I REALLY wanted to like them, so many familiar faces and a look and feel like classic NBC Saturday night, but they need some SERIOUS doses of funny. Where the hell are all the good sitcom writers these days?

IKR? The late '80s/early '90s, I guess. I used to watch ones like Starting from Scratch (

      ) and What a Dummy (
      )

      dragonflies

There are none, they'd rather write for an unfunny reality show

    4. Ryan Chamberlain

      Ryan Chamberlain

The good sitcom writers have died or quit. Sitcoms haven't been funny since the late 90s IMO.

  7. I like to imagine that A Fifth of Beethoven is Judge Judy's theme song because that was her jam at the disco.

  8. Does anybody remember WildChats, the guy in the baseball cap who used to make YouTube videos of himself singing '80s primetime soap themes with original lyrics he had written? Random soap-related memory.

I know LD left GL soon after she joined the show, because her depression over her husband's death became too overwhelming.  Which was a shame, I thought, since GL could have used someone like her at that point.

  11. Lately, I've been getting ads that appear on top of posts, literally blocking out people's words. Even if I click on the ad (which I hate to do) or attempt to close it, I can't get rid of it to see what the poster was saying. This is egregious. Anyone else having this problem?

      Ew it's gross.

      JackPeyton

Have you tried to make that [[email protected]#$%^&*] at home? I did once. Never again. Ill glady shell out my cash for it, honestly. Also, ive noticed that store bought ice cream is basically the same as like coldstone or a creamery.

  13. I'm not minding Zach Slater as Ridge. Maybe because I don't really have an intimate relationship with B&B, I've only watched here and there over the years, and no disrespect to RM who I certainly think about upon every Ridge scene. But soap actors as a whole are the closest we get to a theatre rep company on TV, and I think this is an example of where a recast oddly and unexpectedly works.

    1. SFK

      SFK

This generation's answer to Carmen Duncan as Iris?

    2. Cat

      Cat

LOL, I donlt know how to answer that because I just adored Carmen Duncan!

Maybe it's too early to make a judgment call on TK, I can only say (as a long-time B&B viewer) that I like him as Ridge. But I was over RM as Ridge by 1993 so maybe I'm not the right person to judge. I do find TK a *relief* to watch because he is such a competent actor. I like his take on Ridge, too, it is very sympathetic and thoughtful. RM's Ridge was such a shouty drama bitch sometimes.

    3. Cat

      Cat

The only criticism I would make is hair and wardrobe. I don't mind my Ridge craggy, but he should always look smooth and sophisticated. Hes a fox who looks women, no matter his age. Therefore: hair trimmed, fantastic suits, maybe a silk tie once in a while.

  14. Well would you look at who Roseanne sat down to chat with on her YouTube channel... [/ninja emoticon]

    1. Khan

      Khan

      Lemme guess...are his initials "T.A."?

    2. Khan

      Khan

Never mind, I saw who it was. I hope she doesn't try to claim she was the real head writer of "The Cosby Show." ("I wanted Bill to reflect more reality for African-Americans! I wanted Sondra to leave Elvin for a beautiful, dark-skinned female college professor from Nigeria!")

  16. I AM A SWEDE and frequentsoapfan are probably my two favorite user names here at SON.  I know it's a doll, but I imagine frequent looking exactly like her avatar in real life, just as I'm all, "Who's this James E. Reilly you speak of, that man's name is Toups."

    1. YRfan23

meh, I'm sort of indifferent about dating sites, though I guess these days it's the only way to find someone...

    2. ReddFoxx

      ReddFoxx

For the most part good looking people aren't on apps or websites. If there is one thing that remains best kept old fashioned, it's that meeting people in still best done in person.

    3. YRfan23

      YRfan23

I agree...even though it's been a good while since I've really been in a relationship, I just hope to meet that someone in person.

  18. Granted, I don't have much to say about the stories these days, but I'd greatly appreciate it if a tech savvy person would create a how-to thread for the updated board... how does one respond to posts without a sloppy and confusing mess of messages in one's post, how does one post pictures and videos embedded in the post instead of showing links or embarrassingly long urls/Internet speak, et cetera... I'm lost and I never want to come here anymore because the simplest efforts of engaging with the SON family has become such a hassle and I just give up and say F it.

  21. "I may be special, but I don't make no special needs babies." These Maury writers ought to be ashamed.

  22. Watching G.I. Joe, and one of the Joes "harmlessly" refers to someone as a "camel jockey". Another one calls an enemy a "dumb Russian bear". What flew in 1985.

    2. SFK

      SFK

FYI, a Susan Lucci is Maker's 46, creme peche, and citrus berries, named after the fact that the restaurant is often nominated but has never won a Rammy award.

  24. Where is that executive who'll say, "A doppelganger storyline? You're going to have to come up with something more creative than that. What am I even paying you for?"

    1. MissLlanviewPA

      MissLlanviewPA
