  1. Anyone seen Khan? He's been MIA for a while now.

Yes, what marceline said. I’m sure he’ll appreciate that you thought of him.

  2. It's not a big deal to anyone but me, but I watched AMC for the very first time 20 years ago today lol It was the first time I ever watched a soap for myself and not just because someone else was watching it, and it began my long long loooooong love affair with our beloved genre.

  3. Watching a "Love Boat" rerun with Michael Zaslow playing a jewel thief and wearing the world's tightest pair of pants. All his business is out there.

  4. A character masturbating and flicking the sperm on somebody is not a scene that I ever thought I'd see on a TV show, but Tyler Perry went there. How he comes up with these ideas I'll never understand.

Wait, so this happened on a Tyler Perry show?

Cheap that’s exactly what came (no pun intended) to mind.

  6. HBO’s Tina Turner documentary is a must see. An array of emotions experienced as a viewer.

I can hardly wait. Loved the Aretha series.

  7. The trailer for HBO's Tina Turner documentary has arrived and it is thrilling:

I can hardly wait. I’ve watched all of the Whitney docs and of course they sadly miss her account of her own life.

  8. The OLTL thread reminded of the joy of fandom, the thrill of meeting people with shared passions, and the amusing lengths that we all went through to hold on to our memories of soaps past.  Cheers to everyone who audio taped, kept diaries, and maintained scrapbooks, I hope you all know what a valuable resource that you're endeavors have become.

  9. Happy New Year everyone. Like many others here, this has not been my ideal year, or close, but this place has helped keep me going. Thank you to everyone for the laughs, rare soap footage, and insightful discussions.

  10. Early in 2020 a relative passed away, and now as 2020 winds down another has gone. I'm glad their pain is over, but it's just another reminder of how much this year has felt like an excessive Guza or McTavish era soap opera.

  11. The bits I've seen of the Animaniacs revival look like tryhard 101 and also oddly bitter. Oof.

I always preferred Tiny Toons, I never got into Animaniacs.

Is that Mary Louise Wilson in the second one?

  14. Can someone please explain to me why Chrissy Tiegen and John Legend are sending photos of her naked in a hospital gown crying?

Terrible loss but I can't help but think this is a bit excessive.

I had to go look this up... is nothing sacred? Who would even think to whip out a camera at a moment like this? I am so sorry for their loss and I pray that I'll never be subjected to this particular grief. I have no idea how I would react. But imagining her setting up the camera or asking someone else to take the shot makes me feel ill.

  15. The DECADES network is running a weekend marathon of the short-lived 60s police drama NYPD, and it’s chock full of soapy guest stars. Mary Fickett is currently killing it as a runaway hippie girl’s mom.

Yes Chit, I have one of those antennas in my bedroom, I love it! But unfortunately I no longer get Decades nor Retro in my area. If they ever take Antenna and Me, I'm goin' AWF!

  18. On Tuesday there will be a re-imagined rendition of the Golden Girls with Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan and Alfre Woodard. It requires a sign-up, but the show is free. https://www.mobilize.us/zoomwhereithappens/event/315913/

  19. Am I the only one tired of the fake Golden Girls obsession? Where was this when I was getting picked on in middle school for watching it?

My friend just mailed me a "Bea Safe" Covid mask. Another friend made me a "Friend of Dorothy" tee. I've been watching TGG since it's debut when I was in the first grade. For years, I have fallen asleep to Lifetime reruns, then dvds, now YouTube playlists. I hate when the show is reduced to some ironically hip gay joke. I also find drag interpretations more exhausting and obnoxious than heartfelt tribute.

  21. Rewatching the first weeks of The City for the first time in 25 years. Flaws notwithstanding, so much of it from style to cameras are a precursor to today - maybe they should've tried it at night.

A late-night block of The City and 13 Bourbon Street would have had me blissfully late to Montgomery Blair High School every morning, instead of just begrudgingly late.

  24. Anyone else really a big fan of Hee Haw? Just me? Okay.

    1. SFK

      SFK

Lol, as a child, yes, but it's been a minute. I came across an ep while flipping channels a while ago and forgot to flip back. I was into campy southern-hewn humor when I was little, Hee Haw, Mama's Family, The Barbara Mandrell Show...
