  1. Kin Shriner has played out far more embarrassing stories over the years than the Scott and Liesl romance. He's also always had an age appropriate love interest. I sincerely doubt that after all these years he's suddenly mad about a romance that was basically harmless.

  2. As a Jewish person with family in Israel and as a person on the left politically, I find this to be an almost impossible situation and torn between two sides. I'm not a fan of the current Israel government at all, but I do want Israel to exist. I *hate* the bombing and destruction in Gaza. I understand having to get rid of Hamas and support that. But I feel like we've gone way past that now and I'm finding it very hard to rationalise most of the extreme response. Self defense and trying to save hostages is one thing, but I don't understand the endgame of just levelling the place to the ground. I also find the rampant antisemitism and anti-zionism stuff I'm seeing both in real life and online to be incredibly hard to deal with. I can't speak for in the Us, but it's gotten bad in Australia. Zionist becoming synonymous with basically anyone who is Jewish or shows even vague support for the Jews and/or Israel is disheartening to say the least. I'll always be on the left politically but I will admit that most online leftist have done a great job of making me, and I imagine others in the same situation, feel isolated from that side of the political spectrum recently.

I don't know what the answer to the conflict is, other than some sort of shared land. Iran will never let that happen so here we are. I was always raised to pray for peace for both Israel and Palestine and to hope for a two state solution. I hope at some point we can get there without both sides bombing each other into oblivion. I do want a ceasefire as long as the hostages are part of that deal. Netanyahu has also got to go. He's completely to blame for the current situation. Obviously though a lot of people for decades though share in the blame.

I'll refrain from posting to much more for now as of now because I don't want be the one that sets the tone of the thread because I hope to see a lot of other perspectives.

  3. Is there any particular reason these southern US states seem to be fine with voting for Democrats for the Senate, Representatives, and Governors but it never translate to them voting that way for President? I know Georgia is heading towards becoming a Democrat state, but what's the deal with these other states seemingly being fine with all Democrats except for when it comes to the President?

I've always thought right leaning Jew haters were the more dangerous, but the left is certainly challenging them for the title this week. The number of people on the left who were "happy to see Hamas bloody the nose of their oppressors" disgusts me. I took some satisfaction in watching some of them back track when they realized it was different this time and people were no longer buying that bullshit. Why are people so damn stupid?

As left leaning Jewish person, I've found most of the past two weeks to be incredibly demoralising, especially the hospital debacle yesterday. I was always raised to support and pray for peace for both the Israelis and Palestinians. I support a two state solution. Some of the stuff I've seen from the extremes on both sides recently has just been difficult to see. I've just basically had to shut it off and look away.

I think there were a few other Jewish posters here. I'm not sure if there were any Palestinians. I hope everyone is staying safe and trying to do the best they can during all this.

  5. I feel like outside of Michael, who is a dud of course, the "younger" GH male cast is in okay shape. Chase isn't my favourite, but he's passable. Backstory aside, Cody is fine. Dante is good. Zeke seems popular. TJ is good as well. I'd get rid of Michael, bring back a good Lucas and/or Tommy Hardy, and go from there.

The main issue is the younger female cast. Maxie needs to go. Sasha and Willow are not needed. I guess they're finally using Kristina but just get rid of Molly at this point. No to Joss. No to Esme. Trina  and Brook is fine, but they need some more. I didn't go through everyone's suggestions but there's got to be some 20s/30s girls out there to bring on. I get there's some reason they won't use Serena, but there's definitely some others out there. I'd definitely use Emma and Lila Rae instead of Joss and Esme.

I still try to figure something out about Lulu, Nikolas, and Lucky. They need at least one or two of them.

Gh though is just allergic to their legacy characters outside of ones that fell out of Carly. I've never seen a show that is sitting on like 10-12 goldmine characters offscreen and that they refuse to use.

  6. @Vee

I was travelling and missed the first week, but just got caught up. I've thought this season started off really well. Last week's episode was a legit great hour of television.

I'm loving Carol Kane and think she's a great addition. Interested in her whole mysterious race and vibe. I hope we learn more.

I agree on Chapel. Maybe it's just me, but I find her really dynamic and interesting on this show. I know we all love Majel and her roles, but I kind of hate that we know where Chapel ends up and that she becomes less important over time. It's one of the big downers of the series for me.

Really interested in the rest of the season, especially whatever this musical episode they're teasing is and the Lower Decks crossover.

I haven't gotten around to looking deeply into the Prodigy thing but that sucks since I thought it was popular. How much do you think it might affect the live action shows? I feel like they'll still do Academy since they've already committed, started work for it, and have the sets. I'm interested to see where this leaves any Legacy series, even though I still think that's probably a go too.

  7. That GH cast from about 1991 to around 1996 was pretty immaculate. The stories before Labine got there weren't always great but that was as good a cast of character as I think GH ever had. All of the original Quartermaines. The Wards. Anna, Holly, and Robert for a while. Luke and Laura. Steve and Audrey. Felicia, Mac, Robin, Stone, Lucy, Kevin, Lois, Brenda, Sonny, Sean, Tiffany, Bobbie, Tony, Karen, Jagger, Ryan, Scott, Dominique, Lucky, the original kid Maxie. That's just a really solid group in that era. Even the losers and flops like Katherine, Jenny, and Paul or b-level characters like Julia Barrett and Damian Smith were better for the most part than a lot of the people we get now.

I think part of it is down to the taping schedule now. IIRC John Ingle appeared a fair bit early in 2012 and throughout 2011, but they were still several months ahead at that time. And I don't think Edward had appeared in quite awhile after he got sicker. Then FV did what he did for John as he neared the end during the water crisis storyline that fall, in September '12 - something I will always be grateful to Frank for, and one of the classiest moves any EP's ever done at this or any soap. IIRC John was dead three weeks later.

You're right, I forgot about the goodbye scenes he managed to get in there for Edward. That was extremely classy and touching.

Idk if they knew she was ill or not, but I'm glad they got that scene in there for her at the recent Nurses Ball.

  9. Heartbreaking. I know a lot of us here grew up watching GH with that 80s/90s cast and she was a big part of that. All those stories with Tony, BJ dying, the relationships with Felicia and Luke, the fights with Lucy and Laura, finding out about Carly, the custody battle with Tiffany, her and Stefan- all core GH memories for me. She'll be missed.

I know it's a little early to speculate on what GH will do farewell wise but I'll echo people saying I hope they find a way to include Tony Geary, Brad Maule, Sarah Brown, and even Tamara Braun.

When was the last time GH even had to deal with a cast member this active  appearance and story wise passing? When Mary Mae died? Epiphany came and went and I feel like we were barely seeing people like Edward, Steve Hardy, and Lila by the time they passed. Bobbie wasn't on a lot but she was still active and involved.

Andre kind of got off pretty light after working with Faison on the Two Jasons, didn't he? Just hanging around with his very tall hair. I remember the days when he was the navigator on Star Trek: Enterprise who they totally gave up on writing for because back then he had no ability to act beyond grinning and saying 'warp 9!' @AdelaideCate007 will back me up!

Abysmal! I remember multiple episodes towards the end where he just showed up to sit there and say one word because they clearly didn't want to have him act much. Hands down one of, if not the worst, actor to be a regular on a Star Trek show.

He has been marginally better on GH, but not by much.

  11. A long but honest and really insightful interview with Matalas. The host get some good answers out of him and press on some things. Interesting that one of his biggest regrets is that they thought people would have a better understanding that the Agnes Borg were different than the mainline Borg but that he realises now it was confusing to a lot of people. Also mentions that he wishes they'd included the line about Kestra's whereabouts in the last two episodes since he thought people would get she was safe but it ended up not really landing that way for some of the audience. Touches a lot on stuff they wanted to do. He goes deep on Naomi and it sounds like he wants to circle back to that again and that it came down to doing that scene vs something like Daystrom Station and one had to go. Has ideas for Alexander and all the TNG kids. They were hedging their bets on hoping it'd work out for Janeway but the clock and money ran out. Tuvok was always meant to be involved. Has a backstory on Vadic and the Borg Queen. I thought it was interesting also that he doesn't want to give away too much about his ideas for what happened in the aftermath of Frontier Day in case he's able to pick that up again.

Really interesting that he says Gates McFadden was down for whatever ideas they threw at her where as Michael Dorn and Levar Burton had very specific ideas about where they wanted their characters to be at.

Also worth mentioning that at the end he says he has a deal with CBS/Paramount but then kind of back away from wanting to say more and won't touch on what that means. All in all, a really interesting listen.

  12. I heard like thirdhand that GH had tried to get people back for the anniversary and that what they were offering, outside of Jane Elliot and Emma Samms, was basically like a one day cameo during the Nurse's Ball lol.

Sort of in the vein of whatever is was they brought Emma and Milo back for when Epiphany died or whatever the recent Helena appearance was. Just a drive by to say hey for like five minutes.

  13. GH needs to memory hole or have a bomb go off and get rid of anyone under 18 not named Jake, Aidan, Leo, and Georgie. Donna too I guess given the real life connection.

those other kids of Maxie's, Charlotte, Esme's baby, Scout, Danny, Avery, Michael and Willow's kids, Violet, Rocco- bye!

Who at GH thought Maxie, Sam, and Willow all needed multiple [!@#$%^&*] kids?

I can't remember the exact circumstances, but I think it had something to do with Scully/Damian Smith sabotaging Deception cosmetic shipments.  Sonny, Luke et al knew this was happening and Lucy was some sort of decoy.  I think the whole operation got bungled and Lucy got taken hostage/kidnapped and it ended with Joe Scully's death.

You're right. It did involve Scully somehow too. Lucy was the decoy and they snatched her for some reason. I'd forgotten about Scully being part of all that lol. I'd blocked all that out.

There was also some mess involving Damian faking his death and framing Katherine at one point. I think that was yet another story that ended in hijinks with Lucy, Mac, Kevin, and Luke going to some hacienda spa to find him and bringing him back to Port Charles. Something in that vein. This was right before he died I think.

  15. I had totally forgotten there was a third Justus, whew. That was a bad recast. I'd welcome back the original actor still, even if he's a little weird in his beliefs.

Speaking of the Damian talk from before, didn't Damian kidnap Lucy? Someone like that. I swear I remember there being one of those stupid hijinks stories where Luke, Sonny, Mac, and Kevin had to go get Lucy cause Damian had snatched her from somewhere. Or maybe it was one of the mob bosses Sonny was involved with it during that era when Luke, Lucy, and Sonny owned that club together and were tight.

  16. Kind of long and not anything super new but interesting podcast where Terry Matalas talks more about how that Covid, money, and filming logistics kept them from using characters like Janeway, Soji, Kira, Harry Kim, Kestra, and Ro for a second time. Sounds like working with basically only four sets meant they had to go smaller than what they wanted and really think about whether some of those scenes would work and how to get those characters involved. When they realised most of them didn't make sense or they couldn't afford to build another set to make it work, the scenes got cut. Vibes with another interview I heard where he said they kept mentioning Janeway and Kestra because the audience and the story obviously needed those beats but held off mentioning other people so the audience didn't get bogged down in people they weren't going to see or didn't know. I know he mentioned in this somewhere else also, but it sounds though like they did try to get the second Ro appearance to happen but just couldn't figure it out money wise or get Michelle Forbes back.

Also this is from right before the finale, but a podcast where Jonathan Frakes sounds super optimistic about Legacy and seems to float the idea or assumes that cast would be Seven and Raffi with the TNG kids (other than Soji) with appearances from the TNG cast and characters from that era.

  17. I assume a lot of the stuff they never got around on this season will pop up on Legacy, if/when it happens. Maybe not the Ro stuff onscreen since that would have probably require more than what Michelle Forbes wants, but the rest for sure I could see happening. Shelby, whatever he had in mind with Kira, the Naomi and Seven reunion, Captain Harry Kim. That's all stuff I could definitely seeing being touched on. Still holding out though on Janeway getting her on thing hopefully.

Reading a lot of the finale interviews with the TNG actors. Most of them seem keen on the Legacy idea and them making one off appearances here and there. Frakes especially seems to really want his kid to be on the ship and for his idea of being the admiral they have to check in with every once in a while to be a thing lol, along with Deanna being there as the counselor they have to visit. I think that could be fun. I was surprised to see Brent Spiner floating the idea of having Data and Soji meeting onscreen at some point and that he was hoping for that to happen in the future. I know Soji wasn't anybody's favourite but I wouldn't mind a one off meeting onscreen at some point.

  18. Katherine was annoying and unneeded but she was mostly fine when she was scamming the Quartermaines. Again not that it was needed but I remember her and Lucy being fun when they'd fight. Her and Damian were sort of amusing when they were together and just being pests to Lucy, Kevin, Mac, and Felicia. Her and Lois fighting over Ned lead to some good stuff. Mac and her were ridiculous as a couple even though I remember her being nice to Robin and that being some good stuff for the both of them.

Things went off the deep end when she got involved in the Cassadine mess and started going off the parapet once a year. Since her best "relationship" was with Lucy and there was the Scott/Dominique/Serena connection, I always wondered why they didn't stick her over on Port Charles too. That would have been better in the long run than that mess with her, Stefan, and Alexis.

  19. Fair. I haven't watched Voyager in years, and want to do a rewatch soon, but I always remember enjoying them as kid even though it just seemed a budget version of Deanna and Riker lol. I'd probably have a somewhat different opinion as an adult. Yeah, I feel like the success of Picard and if the Michelle Yeoh movie hits, then that would open stuff up for a Janeway series or movie and definitely a DS9 movie. I know there'd be no Odo and I doubt Avery Brooks would appear, but I think the rest of them would be up for a movie.

Totally agreed. I think 13/14 episodes is a good sweet spot for stuff like this. There were definitely a few things in Picard this season that could have used an extra episode or two to breathe and some stuff they could have touched on more if they had a few more episodes.
