Trump supporters will turn a blind eye to these allegations, just like how Hillary supporters turned a blind eye to the private server and Benghazi allegations.

There are no Benghazi allegations, and there never were.   Hillary was never accused of actually doing anything and time after time a congressional committee cleared her of all wrong doing, and time after time republicans then decided to have another committee.

And even if there was some moral responsibility for Benghazi, how do the four deaths rate compared to the 241 deaths Reagan is therefore responsible for when he got the marines killed in Lebanon?  Or the 3000 deaths GWB caused on 9/11?  Also, you might ask yourself, but probably won't, why after Reagan killed those marines using Benghazi logic, why did the democrats in congress hold a hearing, decide better security was needed, and then move on?   Answer:  because in the 1980s congress didn't use national security and congressional committees as electoral weapons.

I'm still completely disgusted.  I have to find a way to let go of the anger I feel about what's happening.

I have no problerm with the son-in-law.   Franklin had Eleanor, JFK had Bobby,  Bill had Hillary...the guy is said to be bright.  Yeah, he has business deals but he is said to be divesting.    Plus he is from NY and he is Jewish.  Enough with the southern christians already.   Finally someone in government who won't pretend he listens to country music on his way to church on sunday with a rifle in his pick up.   And he is not railing against the gays while adopting a wide stance somewhere.   This guy looks better then just about every elected republican.

Oh yes I know plenty of white progressives. I'm surrounded by white progressives ......They may not have said it was about race .....

You are paranoid and clearly don't like white people.  Once again, "these white people..." betrays your actual hate based opinion on this race topic.   The fact that the queen of "I hate whitey" signs in to say she agrees with you pretty much tells me everything I need to know.

Seriously. This election had nothing to do with economic anxiety or national security. It was about Obama. These white people saw an increasingly black government making decisions about their lives and they began to realize what it means to be a minority. It doesn't matter that he wanted to create economic opportunity for them or that he didn't want them to go bankrupt because they got sick. They experienced for a few years what it's like to have people who don't look like you making the decisions and they lost their [!@#$%^&*] minds. This is the same thing that Bernie or busters did. All these white progressives got pissed when black and brown people didn't think he was the bestest thing ever so lot of them stayed home or voted for Trump out of revenge. Somebody on another board reminded me that when MLK Day became a holiday white racists couldn't bring themselves to honor a black man even if it got them a day off from work.

This narrative is just too convenient for the "lets blame white people!" that  this forum is wont to do.   So every other election was about the economy, taxes, and whatever, but this one had nothing to do with it?   Well of course it had nothing to do with if the theory is "racism now, racism always" and then we have to make sure all facts fit that convenient and fun theory where one can blame everyone else except the people they want to be blameless.

I personally know women--puerto rican women--who voted for Trump because they hated Obamacare.   And have you talked to white progressives and discussed with them how pissed they are that black people didn't like Bernie?   Do you even know any white progressives?   The Bernie or bust people I know who refused to vote for Hillary never mentioned  race once.   They talked about Hillary, wars, wall street, and lying.

And frankly, if I were to include the phrase "these black people" in any context--even the most naive and innocent one--there would be 4500 posts on this forum calling me a racist.     Keep talking in the echo chamber.

What a mess this is - even after the most blatant anti-Semetic campaign in the lifetimes of many Americans, it's the Democrats who are tearing themselves to pieces over the issue and talking about how they will lose the Jewish vote because of not being pro-Israel enough.

    http://www.politico.com/states/florida/story/2016/12/israel-palestine-tensions-ripple-through-democratic-party-chair-races-108212

Trump was pro Israel though, and this is a deal breaker for many jews and with good reason.   If the DNC wants to install a pro-Palestine muslim then  let them knock themselves out and have a party, but there shouldn't be such a shock when the old jewish ladies in FL go looking for a new home.    Knowing this is an issue for a large constituency in an all-important state, I am not sure why the party wants to nominate people who will upset that applecart.   Where is the upside?

The Cubans in FL have their big issue, the jews have their big issue...everybody has an issue dear to them.   That's just the way it is.

  6. Republicans cornered the market on religion through branding I guess.   This all started 40 years ago but remember it was Jerry Falwell (whose departure from this mortal coil made the world a better place) who had the so-called "moral majority" as if to not be with them meant somehow you were not moral.   And then there is the whole ridiculous label of "values voters" which the media signs off on.   Is there anyone anywhere who doesn't vote with their values in mind?   I voted my values:  I voted against the guy who the KKK supported.

Forty years of branding takes hold, but this year the religious crowd showed themselves to be the hypocritical, values-free, cynical charlatans they always were when the family first crowd voted for the guy who kicks all his wives to the curb when they get too old, rather than vote for the woman who despite her earlier dismissal of Tammy Wynette did indeed stand by her man for 40 years.    I truly find all conservative christians to be the most odious people in America--up and down the line.   My radar is up the moment I hear people mention that politics are being discussed among church goers, because that means somewhere in that discussion is a crooked minister trying to sway his flock to do what he says.

  7. The democrats need to do something.   They somehow ceded all the downticket races to the republicans.   Those state legislatures all mattered and now the republicans have rigged it so it is nearly impossible for the democrats to retake the house.  And we see what those state houses are doing right now in NC.   Populism is fun, and I agree with a lot of what Bernie says, but populism long term never seems to work.   It is emotionally satisfying but doesn't seem to be any way to run a country.  I guess you gotta fight fire with fire maybe.

I am not a fan of going to the middle because all that happens then if <-x------y-> that is the spectrum and you are where the x is and you go the middle all that happens is the people at Y move an equal distance further away from the middle:  <----x----y->  never happens, but <-----x-----------y-> does forcing x to move even further to get to the middle that never seems to materialize.   Just look at how the extreme of the extreme Mike Pence is now called mainstream, and even though many people agreed with Bernie he was called extreme left.   And Mitt who was "severely conservative" just four years ago is now considered basically a RINO in the middle, the favorite of all liberals and moderates.

I think the only way I might be in tune with our country's zeitgeist is in thinking that we need to stay out of other people's wars.

But that is what conservatives said in 1939, leaving England to fight alone by 1940.  Roosevelt did an end run around public opinion  and the world was better for it.   Being the USA can suck because the weight of the world is on the president's shoulders, but as they say in spider-man "with great power comes great responsibility".

  9. I like Bernie, always will.   He's a cranky old jewish guy who talks with his hands.  I'd vote for him just on that basis alone.

So now that his presidency is just about over, I think history will show Obama dropped the ball on Syria, especially when there is now video preserved forever of desperate Syrians begging for help and chronicling their own massacre.  I don't know what Obama could have done given that the country was worn out after 10 years of Iraq and Afganistan, but  the US encouraged revolt when it started and sort of just abandoned them when the going got tough.

  10. It's pretty cool they cast her, but I wish I didn't know because it will make her inevitable death on TWD expected.  This will probably be a better role considering her TWD role is pretty marginal.  If it is truly to be set in the era of The Cage then I hope they use that esthetic with the bright costumes and goofy phasers and stuff.   They probably won't but it would be cool if they did.    I just wish this show wasn't going to be on some out of left field streaming service because I don't feel like paying per month to watch just one show.

Had people really gone by the actual evidence, and not been willing to believe lies and prejudices, we'd have an utterly different outcome today.

I am not sure.   It seems people were willing to say to themselves "blah blah blah, I am voting for Trump anyway".  If tapes surface of Trump bragging about how because he is famous he can grab women by the crotch, and that didn't cost him the election, then what actual evidence would have?

She lost because of all the reasons combined I guess.  The FBI, the women thing, racism towards Obama and the mexicans, the Russians...but the main reason she lost is because her campaign decided to not campaign for white people, opting instead to maker he entire reason for being elected "I am not Trump".    She got more votes than Trump it's true, but why didn't she have a message for the fired guys in the great lakes area?    She didn't even try to compete for them to keep Trump's numbers down.   Whatever happened to "The economy, stupid"?

  13. Good bye the worst stretch of episodes in TWD history.   I know I am not alone in thinking the show has tanked, as ratings are down 25%.

This episode was the best of the bunch but only for the last few minutes.   Before that it was yet another neverending Negan monologue episode, but this time they were at least smart enough to cut in other characters.   Carol?   How nice she appeared for only the second time this year.   How undramatic that she still is in Garbo mode.  Oh well, at least she stopped crying.   Daryl escaping saved the entire episode and his coming home scene just turned another dud episode into something resembling satisfying.   Hopefully the show has been reading its bad reviews and watching its tumbling ratings and will do some course correction.   Jeffrey Dean Morgan is not all that they think he is, and he and his character need to be on a lot less.   The show can also use some other stories.   Stop showing people nobody knows really, start showing the stars of the show, and develop some of the B listers like Aaron and Jesus.    That soldier guy crying in his cabin?   who cares?

Hello there!  I'm new to the board.  MAJOR Dynasty fan.  Watched Season 6-9 and The Colbys as they aired when I was in high school and have bought all of the DVDs are rewatched in my adulthood.  That final season of the show is one of my very favorites. It seems to be quite controversial on the board though!  Yes, the budget is clearly gone and Alexis and Krystle are missing for most of the season, but the storytelling gets back on point, and it has Stephanie Beacham.  Love it!!

Hi adr, welcome to the board.

Yeah, I am not a fan of the final season.   Even the credits look chintzy.   My favorite will forever be season 2, then season 3.

I wasn't expecting a Tara centric episode to appeal to me, but I actually thought it wasn't bad.

It was the best episode this season so far.   And this episode was different than all the others in that a certain monotonous villain and his cookie cutter evil henchmen weren't on.   Perhaps there is a connection.

You should check it out Carl. My issue isn't with Tara, I like her too. I'm just frustrated with the bubbles people are in and the show's inability to focus on more than one local at a time. If you don't take issue with that, then I think you would enjoy the episode.

I had forgotten all about Tara, but this episode did a good job of fleshing her out and now I think she can be a going concern as a major member of the cast.   I wish she pointed out to that group that if they kill every man they come in contact with that the long term prospects of the group surviving more than a generation is pretty nil.   That notion was mentioned on Battlestar Galactica:  after almost the entire population is wiped out the president tells the admiral he needs to forget about war and think about that the people left need to start making babies, and later the admiral jokes that it eventually might come to a military order that people start making babies.   Those women tonight will have a tough time replacing people when the oldest start to die out if they intend on killing everyone they meet.

Wall Street at record highs as techs, energy stocks rally

    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-stocks-idUSKBN13G198

While all the three major indexes have rallied since the U.S. election, technology stocks had held back the S&P and Nasdaq as investors poured money into sectors such as financials, industrials and energy, which are seen benefiting from President-elect Donald Trump's policies.

There is no denying that the Trump favored industries have seen their stocks rise, and I imagine if he keeps his adminstration halfway sane everyone else on wall street will be soothed and stocks might even hit 20,000.   What makes me laugh though is Obama took wall street from 8000 to 18000  and no republican wants to admit that.
