  1. With things so unbelievable on the show I expect that Ben's record will somehow be explained away as someone else using his body to commit the crimes or something else crazy.

This is just speculation, but I'll cloak it as a spoiler just in case it does actually happen

I think Gina murdered Jordan and framed Ben so that Ciara would be occupied defending him and be distracted from the fact that Hope clearly has a different personality

  2. Even without a conviction possible it really was impossible for House Democrats to not move forward with impeachment because Trump clearly violated the law and it would have been a dereliction of duty to overlook that. Politically they would have received backlash for not holding Trump accountable and the last thing needed is to give voters a reason to stay home.

No one should be surprised by something like this, and in Mississippi, it's pretty much par for the course.

This is going to be a new trick in a lot of places. Republicans floated the idea of overturning the Kentucky gubernatorial results, but backed off when it was clear Mitch McConnell would not get on board. With this particular case in Mississippi the racial factor is clearly at play since Republicans are always accusing black people of committing voter fraud.

Clinton was probably aware that women are held to much higher standards than their male counterparts.  Much of the electorate will applaud a man who is vocal and can trade insults but when a woman does it, she is seen as arrogant and deserving of being put in her place.

Had Hillary went into a full-throated verbal assault on Trump, I just don't believe it would've went over well.  I don't have that much faith in the American public to give a woman the same space as a man in many aspects in life, including presidential politics.

It's not so much of a verbal assault she should have done, but more so a better job of defining him in basic standards. He defined himself as being for the regular person so much to the point that there are people who believe he came from nothing and worked his way up into being wealthy. Trump defined himself and that is part of why he won. So many races are decided on how a candidate is defined.

I think the main mistake Hillary made was in taking for granted she would have more support because of how awful Trump was. People heard all about how terrible Trump was for a year or more, in ads from her, super PACs from the Democrats and from Republicans during the primaries, etc. Ultimately enough of them still went with Trump because they became numb to the attacks and because they decided it was still worth the risk to have a loudmouth and a piece of trash they could say at least was out there in the open and wouldn't be more of the same.

Unfortunately, unless the economy crashes between now and November, I think a lot of them may make the same mistake again.

Having expectations of people not voting for Trump because of his terrible behavior was definitely something that the campaign relied on to much. The difference in 2020 will be that Trump has an actual political record to scrutinize and he can't run as outsider. Plus, a lot of people are more alert about the election than in 2016. There are new states in play that weren't in play last time and those states are more educated.

  5. Democrats took the high road in 2016 and it didn't work. Clinton's biggest mistake was not nuking Trump on the airwaves in swing states early. She could have framed him as a fraud easily by highlighting him not paying people, his bankruptcies, charitable fraud and so much more. She also should have ran an ad in Detroit, Milwaukee and Philadelphia reminding people of how he took out an ad calling for the death penalty for the Central Park Five, because if there was anything that could have gotten black voters to the polls it was that. Whoever is the nominee is in 2020 has to run against Trump's record and character, because the election is an indictment on Trump.

Back when Ben was "reformed" and looking for work, I thought Carlivati missed a golden opportunity to capitalize on RSW's physical attributes by not having Ben get a job as an "exotic dancer."  Carlivati could've even had Ben's new boss, your garden-variety sleazy club owner (who is later revealed to be back-from-the-dead D.J. Craig), force him to exploit his notoriety as the "Necktie Killer," kind of like how Dr. Sam Sheppard billed himself as "Killer" Sam Sheppard in his post-trial professional wrestling career.

Ben could've come out onstage, always acting as if he's getting ready to strangle his next victim, when the music changes and he goes into his dance instead.  Then, as he collects the dollar bills being stuffed down his pants (or whatever), he drops neckties everywhere as a sort of calling card.  In fact, that's how Ciara could've figured out why Ben was flushed with cash all-of-a-sudden: she sees in another woman's possession a necktie that she earlier spotted Ben buying from a store at Horton Town Square.

Seriously, if I could come up with this [!@#$%^&*], what's Carlivati's problem!?

That is way too well thought out for any soap writers to come up with. It is surprising to me that DJ Craig has never been resurrected, but if any of the writing team reads this board he might show up at some point.

I'd love it, though, if Ciara was to find out about Ben and Will and lose her damn mind.  In fact, she should find out right before she finds out her mother has been brainwashed again.  That way, in exchange for keeping silent about Princess Gina, she could extract a promise from "Hope" to get revenge on Ben for breaking her heart.

I absolutely think Ron Carlivati is beyond sick for having a gay man fall in love with the man who (tried to) kill him.

But -- oh, hell -- why not?

That is one of her best songs. That aside, Carlivati's motivation for redeeming Ben is probably looks motivated and nothing more. He tweeted a shirtless picture of Ben yesterday saying "caption this".

  8. Rather than try and have Stefano live on forever they really should have another DiMera take over as the patriarch or matriarch of the family. This whole occupying another body is too much of a stretch even for a soap opera.

Will doing all the whining was ridiculous. He's not that bulky in stature, but he should have been able to fight off a senior citizen who isn't that bulky either. Of course it was written that way so Ben could save him and gain more redemption points.

See, that's what I think it was, too.  Well, that, and Ron Carlivati basically hitting the same storytelling wall that all HW's hit with this show.  (By the way, @ReddFoxx, I hope I didn't come across too strongly in my last reply.  I was worried I might've put you on the proverbial spot without meaning to.)

Your post was fine, I didn't take it the wrong way.

He isn't phased by Jennifer's being in a coma for so long, b/c he isn't really J.J.  He's Michael Evans, the Militant Midget, in a J.J. mask.

"Like Kool-Aid over the ice cubes, so are the 'Good Times of Our Lives'."

Don't post things like that because the writer might be reading this board for ideas. Now Ralph Carter might show up as Abe's half brother Gabe.

  11. I was coming to post about her running into the wall. That was a scene that requires oxygen to watch, because that was hilarious. Tyler Perry comes up with the craziest ideas.

Of course, that's probably what Melania Trump does when he husband takes off his clothes.

It's ridiculous that JJ went over the deep end and started doping again because of her instead of his mom who was in a coma.

Now that you mention it that is pretty ridiculous. They could have at least written it as being a combination.

How did Hayley die?? And why is Will in jail becoming best friends with the guy who killed him?

So far we haven't heard the exact details, but supposedly Kristen murdered her.

  13. I'd want to play a villain that was part of one of the sanctimonious families. I would be Leonard Carver, the son of one Jonah and Lexie who comes to Salem full of rage and a need for revenge after being left in the foster care system for his entire childhood. He'd be the creator of that app that Gabi used to control Julie's heart and would push his way into DiMera by blackmailing Gabi with his knowledge of how she used the app. Then he'd work his way on to the city council and be a foil for Abe at every turn.
