  1. On this day 20 years ago thousands of people had their lives stolen. As a nation we have to continue to wrap our arms around the families who still grieve the losses of their loved ones.

  2. Somebody hung a noose at the bus stop that I use nearly every day. The police was looking for information and asked me, but the day it was put up I had used another bus stop. Something told me to use the other bus stop that day and I'm glad I followed my intuition. Lord knows what could have happened had I came upon whoever put it up.

I am so sorry you had to experience this. Don’t you live in the D.C. area? I hadn’t heard about this and it deserves news coverage.

I'm in California just outside Los Angeles.

  3. A chocolate penis was sent to the home of my local county supervisor who is facing a recall election. The right-wing Trumpsters are so out of control.

  4. At the BET Awards the camera panned to Cynthia Erivo giving Jennifer Hudson the evil eye at Jennifer talked about the movie Respect.

  5. I covered Mighty Real by Sylvester for a virtual talent show for Pride and I won first prize. It was such a surprise seeing that in my email this morning. I am still floored.

      Congrats!

  6. The Verzuz between Xscape and SWV was good. SWV was low energy in the first half but they came in strong in the second half.

I didn't watch because I don't know where to find it and neither group is a fave (SWV has some crazy vocals tho and one of the Scotts from Escape is really good) but it was so nice to see Twitter so lit and having fun with it.  It's been a while.

  7. A character masturbating and flicking the sperm on somebody is not a scene that I ever thought I'd see on a TV show, but Tyler Perry went there. How he comes up with these ideas I'll never understand.

I've never seen Silence of the Lambs, but I'd expect that in a movie like that. I do know that he quoted the "Hello, Clarice" line in one of his plays.

Wait, so this happened on a Tyler Perry show?

Yes, it happened on this week's episode of The Oval. It was just nasty.

  8. Cynthia Erivo looks ridiculous playing Aretha Franklin. That was incredibly poor casting and it shows even in the promo.

I'll wait for Jennifer Hudson's version.

  9. I saw a TikTok where a lady said her hair has been stuck in the same style for a month because she used Gorilla Glue spray to set her hair.

  10. Joe Exotic's people had a limo waiting outside the prison because he was sure he'd get a Trump pardon. Lol.

  11. I just saw a woman in her bra and underwear on the street corner flopping her booty at the traffic passing by, lol. How is your day going?

  12. Rest in Peace, Natalie Desselle Reid. This one really hurts me because I loved her in B*A*P*S.

We loved that movie so much as kids! Whenever the cousins on my mom's side got together, we would watch it. RIP to her - I didn't realize she'd been in so many other things, too.

  13. Interesting update.

  14. On Tuesday there will be a re-imagined rendition of the Golden Girls with Tracee Ellis Ross, Regina King, Sanaa Lathan and Alfre Woodard. It requires a sign-up, but the show is free. https://www.mobilize.us/zoomwhereithappens/event/315913/

Look, they're idiots, but they're also adults.  If they want to ingest disinfectants, that's their business.  Just don't ask me to feel sorry for them when it goes horribly wrong.  ;)

Is it wrong that I heard a laugh track while listening to the clip of Jessica Savitch? That aside, Jessica did at least still look neat while being a mess. Pirro was broadcasting from home which explains a lot.

  18. Debbie Allen did a free dance class today on Instagram. I followed along and felt like I was going to collapse, lol.

  19. Was in the store earlier and saw that just about all of the cleanser was sold out. Hand sanitizer and hand soap was all sold out at the Dollar Tree. It's like people just figured out the cleaning your house and washing your hands is a good idea.

  20. Happy Valentine's Day weekend, SON.

  21. Rest in Peace, Paula Kelly. She was a tremendously talented triple threat https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Broadway-and-Film-Actress-Paula-Kelly-Dies-at-76-20200209

Jackée Harry recently tweeted this clip from The Women of Brewster Place and it exemplifies how versatile Kelly was in her talent, she had such easy chemistry with Lonette McKee. Everyone in that miniseries was excellent, yes, including Robin Givens.

The Women of Brewster Place was one of the first movies I ever saw as a child and every performance was striking because they embodied the character's perfectly. When she goes from laughing to breaking down she transitioned so effortlessly. It's not easy to play a character that is tough and vulnerable, but Paula did it.

  22. I will not spoil it, but Tyler Perry's A Fall from Grace is well worth the watch. If you have Netflix please watch the movie.

You see, it's b.s. like this that keeps me from becoming a TP fan.  (Okay, you say you don't need other writers in the room.  That's your joint, so roll with it.  But, blaming them for the drop in ratings, and not your own inability to keep an audience interested in your crap?  If I ever wanted to collaborate with that man, I certainly would change my mind after reading this article.)

At least he acknowledges the main argument is giving other folks opportunity in the writers room and being a showrunner. I'm guessing he's afraid of someone being better than he is.

    4. Khan

      Khan

Either that, @KMan101, or as @ChitHappens suggests, Tyler is "too damn cheap" to hire other writers.  (Plus, if he were to hire others to write his shows, he'd have to pay according to WGA guidelines, and we know how Tyler feels about unions.)
