B.P. is at an office with crooked Detective Lewis

B.P.: I called you here because I think we have trouble.
    Lewis: What is it now?
B.P.: Evan Peters is in town, he came in last night.
Lewis: The guy that shot you?
B.P.: That's the one. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, so I'm afraid that he'll some how blow the cover off of the operation.
Lewis: Did you tell him to leave?
B.P.: I explained to him how bad his being in town was, but I have no idea if he left. I can't lean on him too much, it's too risky.
Lewis: There's no way they can link him to you, after all you are "dead"
B.P.: I know that, but I still have this nagging feeling that something is about to go wrong before we can take care of Cody Donahue.
we've got to take care of Donahue tonight.

At the Donahue's Novi store, Wilkins walks in and approaches Cody as he's taking inventory in the electronics department.

Cody: I've been anxious to find out more about this lead you found.
Wilkins: This guy that bought the gun, his name is Evan Peters, he has ties to the mob in Detroit, running numbers.
One of my sources there was able to identify him from the description the gun shop clerk gave.
Cody: When you called last night, you said he was in town.
Wilkins: Right after I called you, I tracked him to a diner outside town, he was talking to a man who seemed to be trying to conceal himself.
Cody: You couldn't see what the other guy looked like?
Wilkins: It was kind of hard to see from where I was parked outside, but did take a few pictures.

He hands him a folder with pictures.

Cody: Not too good of a resolution.
Wilkins: It was very dark. I didn't have a chance to scan it into a computer and do more analysis.
Cody: Whoever it is may be in on it. How soon can you get the scanning done?
Wilkins: As soon as I get back to the office, my assistant can do it.
Cody: My break is almost up, so I've got to head back to work. Call me on my cell if you get any clues from the picture.
    Wilkins: Sure thing.

    Cody leaves.

Jim is at the CoffeeRoom at a table when Anna comes in.

    Anna: Hello, Jim.
    Jim: Anna.
    Anna: How have you been?
Jim: Not too good, considering that my wife and I aren't even living together right now.
Anna: That's what I want to talk to you about.
Jim: Let me guess, you place all the blame is on me.
Anna: No, placing blame isn't helpful and I want to help.
Jim: Look, I know you've never really liked me or wanted me married to your daughter, so why on earth would you help me?
Anna: I never said I didn't like you, I just had reservations about you at first and that was years ago when you two first got engaged.
Jim: All right, let's here your great advice.
Anna: I think you need to move back and sort things out. Lynette seems more than willing to try and get things back on track.
Jim: I still need more time to get my head together.
Anna: It's been weeks now, don't you think it's time to at least talk with her?
Jim: We talked a few nights ago and it didn't go well.
    Anna: What happened?
Jim: We had another argument, because neither one of us can see eye to eye. She keeps trying to push that shrink Greg on me and I've
told her more than once that I don't need psychoanalysis.
Anna: Sometimes you've got to make concessions in marriage, My marriage lasted a long time because we both had to give a little and take
    a little.
Jim: Well, there's only so much I can take.
Anna: To think, this all stems from Lynette getting a job because she needed more in her life. I don't see what as so terrible about that.
Jim: She's been happy with the way things were for quite awhile now, then all of the sudden she just up and decides she wants to change.
I was raised with the mindset that someone has to stay home and raise the kids.
Anna: In other words, the wife.
    Jim: I didn't say that.
Anna: It's obvious what you meant.
Jim: All right, so I'm old fashioned, is that a crime?
Anna: It's not worth ruining a marriage over.
Jim: Maybe sometime in the future Lynette and I can get it together, but right now it's not possible and then again it may never be possible.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile, at Lynette's house, Dr. Greg Roosevelt has come by to check on her

    Greg: Hi.
Lynette: Lynette, what brings you here?
Greg: You had scheduled an appointment for today, but you never showed up.
Lynette: I completely forgot about that, I'm so sorry.
    Greg: It's okay.
Lynette: I was just feeling so down right this morning, it slipped my mind.

Lynette sits on the couch and Greg sits next to her.

Greg: Let's talk, you seem upset
Lynette: I'm starting to think that Jim and I are going to make it.
Greg: You're only human, we all have our doubts.
Lynette: The thing is, I'm starting to think maybe I just want to give up.
Greg: Hold on a minute, what has happened to make you start thinking like that?
Lynette: Jim stopped by the house the other night and it's like nothing I say makes any difference to him. Everything with him is so
    negative.
Greg: Are you really sure you want to give up?
Lynette: I really want things to work out, but part of me just wants to let go. It's tearing me apart.

Lynette breaks down crying and Greg takes out his handkerchief and dries her eyes.

Greg: This is something you've got to figure out on your own.
Lynette: I know, but I feel terrible at thought of ending my marriage.
Greg: Listen to me, I'm saying this as your friend, not your therapist. You're not a terrible person, you just want to be appreciated.
Jim is wrong for treating you this way.
Lynette: I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have you, you're the only one who understands.
Greg: I'm right here for you.

Greg takes Lynette in his arms and embraces her. His expression makes it clear that he feels more for Lynette than just friendship.

Wilkins is at his office, with his assistant. His assistant is on the computer working on the photograph.

Wilkins: Linda, are you almost done with that photograph?
Linda: Just about, a few more tweaks and we should be able to see a face.

The picture on the computer monitor becomes clearer, it becomes obvious that it's B.P. in the picture.

Linda: Mr. Wilkins, come have a look at this.

Wilkins comes over and looks at the photo.

Wilkins: Am I seeing things or does that look like---
    Linda: B.P. Charles?
Wilkins: It couldn't be, it's not possible.

Of Wilkins baffled expression, fade to black.

PREVIEW: Next on Novi, an explosive double length episode.

Yvette feels more heat from the troublesome secret she's keeping
Cody comes face to face with danger.

    Delayed episode

Somewhere in the woods, a black SUV is driving up a the path to the gate. Once at the gate, one of the tinted windows of the
SUV rolls down and a hand reaches out and punches in a code on a small kiosk. The gate opens and the SUV rolls up a small road to a small
compound and parks right in front of it. A Man gets out of the SUV and goes inside the compound. B.P is waiting in the entry way.

B.P.: I take it you got your instructions?
    Man: Of course.
B.P.: Just do a good job and make a clean getaway.
    Man: Not a problem, sir.

Yvette is at her office at McGregor's corporate building. Chester comes in.

Yvette: What brings you here? You hardly ever come to my office. I'm working a little late tonight.
Chester: You came home from that mixer last night and barely said two words to me, you just conked right out.
Yvette: Yeah, I was really tired, that trip wore me out and on top of that, the mixer ran kind of long.
Chester: After all that, maybe you need a nice break. We could take a little vacation.
Yvette: What did you have in mind?
Chester: I don't know, say maybe Montreal?
    Yvette: Why there?
Chester: That's where you were the past couple of days, I figured you must like it up there.
    Yvette: Excuse me?
Chester: Oh, come one? don't try to play dumb with me, I found the receipt to the hotel you stayed in up there, you left it on the nightstand.
Yvette: Look, I only went up there to close a business deal, but it fell through.
Chester: Do you ever know when to tell the truth?
Yvette: Okay, the truth of it is, I didn't think it really concerned you.
Chester: (laughs) You know, you are a real trip. Every other time you've gone on a business trip, you've always told me where you'd be
    at.
    Yvette: This time was different.
Chester: It's obvious you were up to something that wasn't right.
Yvette: All right, all right, I'll tell you the truth. But none of what I say leaves this room.
    Chester: Sure thing.
Yvette: To make a long, drawn out story short, when I was in Montreal I found out my father was a bigamist and had a son.
    Chester: What?
Yvette: Yes, although he abandoned the other woman shortly after the birth of their son.
Chester: Well, how the heck did you find all this out?
Yvette; I was trying to find a way to get that mall proposal off the ground and this woman offered to help me. She said if I went to Montreal to help her find her nephew, she'd make sure I got control of the company. Turns out she was the other wife and her so-called nephew was the son.
Chester: How do you know any of this is true?
Yvette: I don't have any concrete evidence, but this woman seems so bitter I sensed she wasn't making any of this up.

    Chester shakes his head.

    Yvette: Don't start with me.
Chester: If you hadn't been scheming behind your mother's back in the first place, you wouldn't have this whole little situation. It was nothing but greed that led to this.
Yvette: I know I was wrong, but I can't stand around blaming myself. I have got to find a way to rectify this situation.
Chester: It seems apparent this woman is after something if she made you aware of all of this.
Yvette: I haven't told you the other part.
    Chester: There's more?
Yvette: The son is right here in town, he was at the mixer last night. He trying to get a contracting job for his firm, he was
face to face with my mother.
Chester: If that's the case, you need to tell your mother the truth right away.
Yvette: I can't do that, it would devastate her.
Chester: It would be better coming from you. It would be even more devastating if she found out another way.
    Yvette: I can't do it, I just can't.

George is in his suite at the athletic club, reading the newspaper when there's a knock at the door. He answered to find Cassandra at the other end.

    George: Hello, Mother.
Cassandra: Just came by to see how the little mixer went last night

    Cassandra comes inside.

George: I think I did pretty well myself.
Cassandra: Tell me all about it.
George: From the minute I showed Mrs. McGregor my portfolio, she seemed very impressed.
    Cassandra: That's marvelous.
George: But, I think there might be a little problem.
    Cassandra: Let me guess, Yvette?
George: Bingo. She told me to back off, but I told her that wasn't happening.
Cassandra: For now, just worry about Anna McGregor, she's the CEO and has the final say. Besides, Yvette's determined to keep the truth
about who you really are from her mother, there isn't a thing she can do stop us without exposing the secret.
George: I'm confident that this will all work out. I just hope I can get that contract, it's the key to everything.
Cassandra: Don't you worry about that, I've got that covered.
    George: How?
    Cassandra: You'll see.

    Cassandra leaves

Cody is at Wilkins office. He's looking at the enhanced picture of B.P.

Cody: This doesn't make any sense.
Wilkins: I said the same thing when I saw it.
Cody: And this is the guy you saw talking to Peters?
    Wilkins: Yes.
Cody: A resemblance that uncanny is impossible.
Wilkins: We both know it couldn't possibly by B.P. Charles, he's dead.
Cody: After seeing this, I'm not sure what to believe.
Wilkins: It isn't logical, but then again what is the explanation for the photo?
Cody: What if B.P. had survived that gunshot wound?
    Wilkins: That's quite a stretch.
Cody: Peters is the alleged shooter who framed me, now he's seen talking to someone who looks exactly like the man he shot.
Plus, he's back in the town where the crime was committed.
Wilkins: I know you are anxious to nail who framed you, but now you are talking crazy.
Cody: I realize that it sounds crazy, but in a way it all fits. The feds were after him before he was shot, "dying" was the perfect way to escape them and a warped way of getting revenge against me because of those bad bets I made.
Wilkins: You might have an angle there.
Cody: I think it's more than an angle.
Wilkins: Where would we look for clues? We don't even know where to start.
    Cody: I'm stumped too.
Wilkins: Listen, I'll make a few calls and see if I can come up with even the slightest clue, no guarantees I'll find anything.
It's all I can do for now.

    Frustrated, Cody leaves

Yvette is still in her office, when the phone buzzes.

Secretary: (over speaker phone) There's a Cassandra Lightner on the line for you.
Yvette: (sighs) Go ahead and put her through.

Yvette picks up the phone. Cassandra is on her cell in the lounge of the athletic club.

Yvette: Haven't you stirred up enough?
    Cassandra: Such civility.
Yvette: It was quite a surprise to see George at the mixer last night, he sure got to town quickly.
Cassandra: You met your brother, how quaint.
Yvette: Quaint indeed. But just to be clear, neither you or your son are going to get your hands on this company.
Cassandra: I've called you to discuss the matter of a little construction contract, taking over McGregor is no longer part of the equation.

    Cassandra crosses her fingers.

Cassandra: All I'm looking to do now is conduct legitimate business.
Yvette: Like I believe you. Didn't I make it clear that I'm not going to do anything to help you?
Cassandra: You know, I think the tabloids are looking for a nice headline. How horrific would it be for your dear mother to
see the truth about her husband at a supermarket check stand?
Yvette: Don't even try to bluff.
Cassandra: If Lightner Corp. doesn't get the contract, What makes you think I won't do it?

Cassandra hangs up and Yvette scoffs.

    Yvette: She wouldn't.

Yvette starts to look slightly worried.

Cody comes home to the Donahue house, it's dark.

    Cody: Anyone home?

No one answers, so Cody decides to go to the kitchen, but he notices the basement door is open and the light is on. He walks over and looks in.
Suddenly, B.P.'s hit man appears behind him and shoves him down the steps and jams the door. He then sneaks out the back door. Cody gets up and tries the door, but he can get it to budge.
Right then, Cody smells an odor of gas.

    Cody: Oh, god, gas!

Cody goes over to the water heater and struggles to shut it off the gas valve, but it's stuck. Eventually, Cody is overcome by the fumes and passes out.

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A little while later, Carol comes home. She's immediately hit by the strong smell of gas.

    Carol: Good lord!

She takes out her cell and dials emergency.

Carol: Emergency, I have a very strong smell of gas in my house, I'd like someone sent over right away to look at this right away.

Carol then remembers Cody's car was parked outside.

    Carol: Oh, no!
Emergency Operator: (over phone) Ma'am, are you all right? I'm sending help right away.

She drops her phone and begins running through the house looking for Cody. She comes to the basement door and struggles to open it.
She finally unblocks it and sees Cody lying on the floor.

    Carol: Oh, my god!

She struggles to drag Cody from the basement and into the hallway. The sound sirens approaching gets closer and closer. Once she has him in the hallway, she drag him to and out the front door, into air.
The fire truck and ambulance arrive on scene, EMT's and firefighters quickly rush to Cody, who is lying on the ground.

Firefighter: Ma'am, where is the gas leak?
Carol: It's in the basement, it's the first door before the kitchen.

The firefighter runs in the house.

EMT: We've got to get him transported to a hospital, it appears he inhaled a lot of the gas.
Carol: Well, is he going to be okay?
    EMT: I'm not sure.

    Carol is terrified.
    _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The hit man is driving on the highway, trying to make get out of town, when he sees a police car with it's sirens blaring behind him.

    Hit Man: Oh, crap.

He pulls over to the side of the road and rolls down his window. The officer walks up to the car window.

    Hit Man: What up?
    Officer: We have a problem.
    Hit Man: Okay.

The hit man starts to sweat.

Officer: You were doing 70 in a 45 zone.
Hit Man: I'm sorry I didn't even realize I was going so fast.
    Officer: What's the hurry?
    Hit Man: None.
    Officer: License and registration.

The hit man gives the officer his license and registration. The officer starts writing a ticket. He hands it to him back his license and registration, along with the ticket.

Officer: Don't let it happen again.
    Hit Man: No sir.

The officer gets back in his car and leaves. The hit man takes a deep breathe and then continues on his way.

Back at the Donahue house, Cody is being loaded into the ambulance.

Carol: I want to ride with my son.
    EMT: Of course.

Carol is crying as she gets into the ambulance. The EMT's close the door and the ambulance drives off. Fade to black.

Varied Lives (formerly Novi) will be returning from hiatus to gear up for an extended length Thanksgiving episode.

"As soaps have traditionally had holiday episodes, I've decided to do one for Varied Lives and really use it to advance some of the storylines further and introduce the next elements. The timeline will be moving forward just a bit to adjust for the hiatus and the lack of episodes I posted, but everything will be in order in terms of continuity and story consistency, all your favorite plots will still make sense."

The head writer also spilled these tidbits:

Anna's traditional family Thanksgiving celebration will get quite a surprise and some of the McGregors will not be happy about it.

As long promised, the rest of the Phelps Family will be introduced, on Wednesday the 26th. John's daughter, Teri comes to town for the holiday, but she has a surprise connection to some already in town.

The holiday doesn't make Leigh and Norm take a break from their scheme, look for them to put the final element of their plan against Edmund in place. What happens will really advance this storyline in a big way.

Plus, there are a couple of other surprises, but you'll have to wait and read. "Readers will not be disappointed" said the Head Writer.

    Casting News:

Varied Lives will have a special guest star on Nov. 26, 27 and 28th.

It's Thanksgiving and at the Donahue Ranch, Carol is just starting set the table when Cody comes in.

    Carol: Oh, good, you're here.

Cody: It's a bit early, don't the caterers usually serve the dinner later than this? They have in the past.
Carol: No caterers this year, this time around, I cooked.
    Cody: You cooked?
    Carol: Yes, is that surprising?
Cody: I've never seen you cook, we've always had a cook here and the holiday dinners have been catered.
Carol: I'm going for a little more of a family oriented touch this time, after the things that have happened in the past year, I think we should all start acting more like family.
Cody: Okay, I get that, but I just want to know if this dinner is edible.
Carol: You and your wisecracks. I have cooked before, when your father and I were first married, I used to cook dinner all the time.
    Cody: If you say so.
Carol: The dinner is fine, do you smell anything burning or see smoke?
Cody: I'll reserve my judgment until later.

Norm comes into the dining room.

Carol: You certainly are dressed to the nines.

Norm: I'm wondering if you wouldn't mind too much if I left dinner a bit early.
    Carol: Why?
Norm: I have a friend who can't make it home for Thanksgiving and I thought I'd spend some time with her so she wouldn't be alone.
Carol: So that's why you dressed up.
    Cody: Who is it?
    Norm: Leigh Elgin.
Carol: Edmund McGregor's ex-wife? When did you hook up with her?
Norm: You know we go way back. We reconnected recently and it's been good for me.
Carol: She was trouble then and she's probably trouble now.
Norm: It's not like I'm exactly a saint, so I can't judge whatever Leigh has done.
Carol: She always struck me as an opportunist looking for a rich husband. She got one with Edmund, do you want to be her second?
Norm: You don't know her like I do.
    Carol: Whatever, just be careful.
Norm: I know what I'm doing. If you'll excuse me, I'll have to go call Leigh and tell her that I'll be on my way soon.

Norm excuses himself to call Leigh.

Norm: Hey, glad I caught you.

Leigh: This better be about the plan, I'm getting restless.
Norm: Don't worry, it is. I've got a conference call later with someone who could seal this thing up.
Leigh: Are you serious? You can get something done on the holiday
Norm: Some of my people work around the clock
Norm: It could be the smoking gun, if it pans out, the judge will not look at Edmund favorably do to his associations.
    Leigh: I like this.
Norm: Meet me at my office in about an hour.
    Leigh: Of course.

Leigh hangs up and pumps her fist in excitement.

At the Athletic Club, Teri is just arriving at George's suite.

George: I'm quite surprised to see you, when you blew me off in the south of France last year, I thought we'd never see each other again.

Teri: We had a fling and it fizzled out because we were going in opposite directions.
George: So, what brings you here?
Teri: There's something you need to know.
George: I can't imagine what it is.
Teri: You remember that last night we spent together? We had way too much champagne and ended spending the night on that beach.
George: How could I forget that?
Teri: Well, now we both have a reminder. You're a Dad now.
    George: Excuse me?
    Teri: You've got a son.
    George: A son? I don't believe this.
Teri: It took me a while to get the courage to come here to tell you. I just want to say up front that this is not about money, it's about you knowing your son.
George: Where is he? I want to see him.
Teri: He's with his governess right now at my hotel.
George: I'd like to see him.
Teri: Of course. I was sort of shocked when I found out you were in Novi, this has been my family's home for a long time.
George: Wait, you wouldn't happen to be related to John Phelps, the SEC vet?
    Teri: Yes, he's my father.
    George: Oh, boy.
    Teri: What's wrong?
George: It's nothing important, let's just go see my son.

At the McGregor Estate, Anna is answering the kitchen door for Andrew.

    Anna: Come in.

    Andrew: You look wonderful.
Anna: Thank you, but we really need to talk.
    Andrew: Fine.
Anna: I don't like that you involved my aunt in this.
Andrew: I'm sorry, but it was my last resort. She's always been able to get you to see the upside of things and I needed someone else to plead my case.
Anna: Well, I haven't forgiven you yet, but I do think that our children deserve to know the truth and that should not hinge on rather or not we work things out.
Andrew: My children. It's been so long, so much has changed, I don't even know what to say.
Anna: You've got that right, I filled you in on the phone as best I could, so you should be able to connect on some level.

    Martha comes into the kitchen.

    Martha: Drew?
Andrew: Miss Martha, is so good to see you again. You know you're the only person who could ever get away with calling me Drew.
Martha: It's a miracle that you survived and came back.
Andrew: It sure is, I'm very thankful.
    Martha: I'm sure you are.
Andrew: Just so you know, Anna, Miss Martha chewed me out on the phone over my actions, she didn't just give me a free pass.
Martha: He's telling the truth, you know I never let anybody get by me without giving them a piece of my mind.

In the living room, The McGregor children are having conversation.

Yvette: Usually, I feel really cheery this time of year, but right now I'm not feeling it. Mom is so down, it

just makes me feel so awful.

Edmund: It's no wonder with this whole mess with Cassandra and George.

Joseph: I can't even figure that one out.
Edmund: Why would he do something like that?

    Lynette: Unfortunately, we'll never know.

Yvette: I was just saying yesterday that I wish that there was a way to understand it.
Joseph: No use worrying about it now, it's been done and we have to deal with the consequences.
Lynette: What did you all think of George? I haven't met him yet.
Joseph: Put simply, people like him are the reason the one finger salute exist.
Yvette: He's just a real piece of work, it's like Mother, like Son, he's almost exactly like his mother. Very bitter.
Edmund: I get that he's bitter, but why take it out on us, we're not the ones who hurt him and his mother.
Joseph: It's the blame game, somebody has always got to be blamed, rather they did anything wrong or not.
Lynette: He is our brother after all, perhaps we should give him a chance.
Yvette: At this point, it's up to him to decide rather or not he wants to reach out. He's put us through heck, so I'm not anxious to welcome him with open arms.
    Joseph: I second that.
Lynette: It sure is a messy situation.
Edmund: You know, this is the day we are supposed to be thankful, so we shouldn't be talking so negatively.
Yvette: You're right, let's all be thankful for the good things we have. All people like George have is their spite, let's try not to emulate that.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________
At the Town and Country Inn, George is holding his son.

    George: He's perfect.
Teri: That's what I say everyday.
    George: What's his name?
Teri: Jonathan George Lightner, I just call him Johnny for short though.
George: I've always wanted to be a father, but now that it's true, it's so unreal.
Teri: I guess all parents feel that way.
George: So, have you seen your family?
Teri: I'm going over there later, I would have gone there when I first got in town, but I wanted to get things squared with you.
George: You certainly lit up my day.
Teri: Speaking of my family When I told you who my father was, you acted odd, why?
George: It just had something to do with a business deal, he and I had some heated words. I just wondered how he would react finding out who the father of his grandson is.
Teri: Oh, my Dad doesn't hold grudges.
George: He thinks I'm a crook and he really doesn't like me for launching a hostile takeover against some of his good friends.
Teri: You know what? It's Thanksgiving and right now we should be thankful for good things. If you have no plans for Thanksgiving, why don't you come to my house and meet my father on a non-business basis?
George: I don't know, meeting the family dinners can be awkward, especially under my circumstances.
    Teri: There's nothing to fear.
    George: I'm not afraid.
    Teri: Then come with me.
George: I probably should do this, our families are going to be connected from now on because of this little guy.
    Teri: It'll be fine.
George: I don't want my son growing up knowing that his Father and Grandfather are arch-rivals, so it's worth a try.

    __________________________________________________________________________________________

Back at the McGregor House, the family is sitting down to just as Anna and Martha put the last dishes on the table.

Anna: You know, I always give a little speech before we say grace and then eat. I'm going to do that now, but what I have to say is a little different than usual. We can be thankful for all of us being here in good health and thankful for all the other blessings we have. I don't know quite how to say this.
    Yvette: Mom, what is it?
Anna: Even though it's going to be hard to understand, but we have something else we can be thankful for this year.

Andrew walks out of the kitchen and everyone at the table is stunned.

(to allow for more regular episodes, Varied Lives will be posted on weekends mostly)

This episode was Co-written by S.T.E.A.M'S ML Cooks

Anna and Andrew are at a resort in Italy.

Andrew: This is working out better than I thought it would.

Anna: Yes, I feel like we are getting back to normal. As normal as is possible after everything that has happened.

Andrew: I know I keep apologizing, but I really am sorry for all those years that I wasn't around.

Anna: I'm trying not to dwell on that. At this point in our lives, we can't afford to be caught in the past.

Andrew: I know, it seems like that's all we were doing before we came here.

Anna: I just want to be sure that this is the right thing for the both of us.

Andrew: Which is why you haven't answered my question.

Anna: I really need time to think about it.

Andrew: Our first marriage was not valid because of all the mess with Cassandra and not filing the correct papers. I want to make that right.

Anna: And so do I, but before that can happen, we have to make sure the issue we have are settled.

Andrew: What it's going to take to do that?

Anna: We are almost there. When you first came back, I wanted nothing to do with you. Now, we are on a vacation and really talking things out.

Andrew: You know, you made me wait before you accepted my first proposal too.

    Anna: Yes.

Andrew: I recall you saying that you had to be sure it was exactly the right thing for the both of us. Not just you, the both of us. It wasn't a selfish thing.

Anna: Marriage is a bond, you've got to take your time.

Andrew: And I respect you for that.

    Anna: Thank you.

Andrew: I'm also very patient and can wait it out.

Anna: Oh, I know that well.

Andrew: Any chance we can work this out before we head home?

Anna: I think we need a little more time than that.

Andrew: I only say that because you know that we are going to probably have a lot of family issues to deal with.

Anna: Yes, there is never a quiet moment back home sometimes. I've learned to juggle, though. Over the years, I had to set aside time for me, while also being there for the family.

Andrew: If you can do that, so can I.

Anna: Hopefully, we'll have no drama when we get back.

    WNOV Television Studios

Cassandra walks onto a news desk like set as make up people, hairstylist, and reporters all bombard her. Sterling walks up to her.

Sterling: Well Look at you. You are doing the big time now.

Cassandra: Oh Shut up Hart. This is not what I had in mind.

Sterling: In the end it will be all worth it. So are you ready for your big debut? The new WNOV?”

    Cassandra: Most Certainly.

Director: Ok People, off the set. Get into position. We have the two minute warning.

Cassandra reviews some of her cue cards. Some topics she is going to cover are the McGregors. She sits back and relishes in the fact that she is about to unleash her soft power to launch an attack on the McGregor’s. She then thinks back on the scene she had with her son a few days earlier. She remembers telling her son that she would not interfere with the McGregor’s.

    She thinks to herself

“I’m not interfering. I’m just reporting on the issue. Big difference. George should be ok with that.

    _______________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile at McGregor, the Exucutive office.

Yvette and Joseph take a seat at a table and turns on the TV.

    Yvette

“Ok remind me again what we are watching that is so important that couldn’t wait until our business crisis is over?”

    Joe

“Relax. We have to be in the know of business here in the city and Michigan. Rumor mill has it that someone bought the old WNOV and they are debuting their new programming today. It’s a new business show. I want to see if we make the cut.”

Joe turns the TV on and they are stunned to see Cassandra on the screen

    Yvette

“I don’t believe this. Cassandra? Really come on. You better hope McGregor doesn’t make the cut. It’s no telling what that woman will say.”

    Joe

“I just hope mother and father aren't watching this mess.” He turn the TV up.

Back in Italy, Anna is addressing some postcards, when the phone rings.

Anna: Hello? Yes, this is Mrs. McGregor.

Leonard: Yes, this is Leonard Underwood.

Anna: Leonard, I'm surprised to hear from you. Is something wrong?

Leonard: I would not have called you on your vacation if it wasn't urgent, but as a board member of McGregor, I'm very concerned about some of the things I've heard.

    Anna: Like what?

Leonard: There seem to be some very big problems at McGregor and yesterday, we found out about them at the board meeting.

Anna: Yvette was supposed to keep me apprised of anything serious that was happening.

Leonard: I'm sure that she just didn't want to bother you on your vacation, but I felt I had to tell you.

Anna: Of course, thank you very much for calling, Leonard.

    Leonard: It's no problem.

Andrew walks in as she hangs up.

    Andrew: Is everything all right.

Anna: No, apparently there are some big problems at McGregor and no one was going to bother to tell me.

Andrew: You know that they probably didn't want to disturb us.
Anna: When I handed over control, I specifically told them to keep me up to date. I'm not CEO anymore, but I've got a lot of assets tied up in the company.

    Anna boots up her laptop.

Andrew: Remember, we are supposed to be relaxing.

Anna: I'll relax when I see if the business media has picked up on this.

Anna does a Google News search for McGregor and a link to Cassandra's new station pops up as the first result.

    Anna: What in the world?

    Andrew: What is it?

Anna: You will not believe who bought the old WNOV station.

    WNOVI

Cassandra is sitting behind the news desk reading from the teleprompter.

“Hello Novi. Thank you for joining us today. I am Cassandra Lightner. Some of you may know me from the Lightner Corporation. I want to welcome you to Novi’s newest local access channel owned by me of course. And we are going to start things off by talking about local businesses. One in particular. It seems that things are not what they seem. I have all the latest details and gossip about... wait for it….( A Graphic come up with the McGregor office building with the text being McGregor being in big red letters so no one can miss it) Cassandra continues reading her script

“That’s right Novians. McGregor. They are spinning lies and I got the latest. Stay tuned and after our short message from our sponsors I’ll tell you who’s been sleeping on the job.”

    Director

    “Ok fade out! And Cut.”

Makeup and Hair people bombard Cassandra one more time. Sterling walks over to her as well

    “You’re doing great babe.”

    Cassandra

“I know. That’s what I do Hart. Great things.”

    Sterling

“Well you keep delivering your brash delivery and the McGregor’s won’t know what them, again.”
Anna is watching a web stream of Cassandra's show.

    Anna: This looks very bad.

Andrew: Cassandra's always been sneaky, that's never changed I see.

Anna: And she still isn't done trying to make problems for the company.

    Yvette

“How in the hell does she know inside information here at McGregor!?”

    Joe

“It seems we have a mole.”

    Yvette

“It couldn’t be George. We hardly give him the time of day.”

    Joe

“We have to do something. I’m going to call our attorney and see if I can order a cease and desist order.”

    __________________________________________________________

    WNOV

    Director

“STAND BY! And were back in 3, 2 1-“

    Cassandra

“Before the break I told you I had some inside information for you about McGregor.

Well it seems someone at McGregor actually was asleep on the job as a major error was found on the balance sheets. Now the company has to go public and are in the process of selling soft assets to raise capital. Since new owners Yvette and Joe took over a year ago from the found parent duo, Anna and Andrew, turmoil and upheavals has followed the next generation of owners. It seems McGregor is in serious trouble and is in danger of going in the red. Even possibly default to creditors and loans and there are now whispers of bankruptcy. Investors and Creditors beware; McGregor is hiding the truth from you.”

    _______________________________________________________________

    McGregor

In a rage, Joe throws the TV onto the floor.

“This is war. She is going to pay for doing this. That snake just black listed us and exposed our dire financial straits.”

    Yvette

“The better question is, how did she know all of this info? She has to have an insider.”

    Then their secretary runs in

“Excuse me guys, the phone lines are blowing up with investors and creditors wanting out. What shall I tell them?”

    Yvette

“We are about to lose McGregor.”

    Joe

“Never. Call a company meeting immediately. We have to find out who this mole is.”

Cassandra steps off set to a phone call waiting for her.

Cassandra: I'm so glad you called. I really want to thank you for everything you are doing, it's a big help. You just keep up the good work and you'll be rewarded.

    Cassandra hangs up.

Cassandra: The McGregors do not know just what has hit them.

At Number 37, Joseph is sitting at the bar when Henry comes in and takes a seat at the bar as well.

    Henry: Hello, Joseph.
    Joseph: Henry.
Henry: You called me, what did you want to talk about?
Joseph: I hope you'll reconsider that job offer in Minnesota, you're immensely qualified.
Henry: Like I said, I'm not ready to pack up and start over in a new place.
Joseph: You may not have a choice, we're having trouble finding qualified candidates and if you want to stay with this corporation, you'll have to step up.
Henry: Why don't you come out and say the real reason you want me gone? It's because of Trish.
Joseph: It has nothing to do with her, this is about business.
    Henry: Sure it is.
Joseph: This company is too important for me to play games over petty personal problems.
Henry: First it was your mother, now it's you, you people just don't let up?
Joseph: You know, paranoia is not a good thing.
Henry: I'm not paranoid, I know exactly what's going on.
Joseph: I could care less about you and Trish, it's not my business and I don't concern myself with other people's lives.
Henry: That's laughable, but one thing you did say was right, it is none of your business.
Joseph: If you want to keep the job you already have, I suggest you watch what you say.
Henry: Or what? You'll fire me?

    JC walks into the bar

    JC: What's going on here?
Joseph: Just a business discussion, Henry was just leaving.

Henry storms out of the bar.

JC: That couldn't have been about business.
Joseph: It wasn't. He thinks because the company has offered him a job in Minnesota, it has something to do with him and Trish.
JC: You mean him and mom are--
Joseph: They've always been close, they've known each other since college.
JC: Oh, I knew they were close, but I never imagined they'd get together.
Joseph: Well, they did. (downs drink)
JC: Are you sure there isn't some truth to what he was saying? You were married to Mom for 20 years, you don't just let go of all that.
Joseph: I've moved on and I don't regret it.

At Number 37, the mixer is under way and Anna and George are talking at the bar.

George: My company is prepared to offer you renovations at a reasonable price.
Anna: I always keep an eye out for a good bargain, but quality is first and foremost.
George: Oh, Lightner Corp. only has the highest standards of quality. We also have a long list of clients who have found our work more than satisfactory.

    Yvette comes in.

Anna: Excuse me for a second.

Anna gets up and goes over to Yvette.

    Yvette: Hello, Mother.
Anna: Yvette, I didn't expect to see you here, I thought you'd still be away.
Yvette: I got back in earlier.
Anna: I'm glad you were able to make it for the party.
Yvette: Yes, well I'm going to go over there to get a drink.
Anna: I was just about to go back over there and finish talking with a potential contractor.

They go over to the bar and sit down.

Anna: I'm back. George, this is my daughter Yvette. Yvette, this is Mr. George Lightner, his company wants to renovate some of our stores.

Hearing the name, a look of shock comes over Yvette's face.

Anna: Well, Yvette, what's a matter? you look like you've seen a ghost.
Yvette: Um, I'm fine, I just thought I thought had heard Mr. Lightner's name somewhere before, but I don't believe I have.
George: It's a pleasure to meet you.
    Yvette: Charmed.

Yvette (thinking): What am I going to do?

Anna: So, George, tell me more about your company's record.
George: I can do better than that, I have samples of the work we've done.

He hands Anna a folder with pictures.

    Anna: This is very nice.

    Edmund comes over to Anna.

Edmund: Mom, these investors over insisted on talking to you.
Anna: All right. George, Yvette excuse me for a second.

Anna and Edmund go across the room where the investors are.

    Yvette looks at George.

Yvette: Your mother wouldn't happen to be Cassandra Lightner?
George: I don't know anyone by that name.
Yvette: Don't try to play dumb, I know what you are up to.
George: All I'm here for is to try and snag a lucrative contract.
Yvette: There's no use putting on a facade, I know everything.
George: I haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.
Yvette: Don't think that I won't put a stop to this, because I will.
George: You need to back off.
Yvette: I'm afraid that's not going to happen.

    Anna comes back.

Anna: Okay, I'm back, now where were we?
Yvette: I believe Mr. Lightner was showing you some samples.
    Anna: Oh, yes.

As Anna and George start looking through the portfolio again, Yvette looks at George angrily.

At the Donahue estate, Cody is in the living room reading articles about the mob on his laptop. Carol comes in and sits on the couch next to him.

Carol: Honey, we need to have talk.
    Cody: Sure, Mom.
Carol: I talked to Norm and he told me how you are bent on persuing who might have framed you.
Cody: He thinks I should let it drop and you probably agree with him.
Carol: As a matter of fact I do.
    Cody: I knew it.
Carol: I'm just afraid that you could put yourself in danger.
Cody: I know how to protect myself.

Cody's phone rings, he answers it.

Cody (into phone): Hello? That's fantastic, what else do you know? Great, thanks, Wilkins.

    He hangs up.

Cody: That was Wilkins, he got an anonymous tip about the case.
    Carol: Any progress?
Cody: He got the name of the guy who bought the gun and he thinks that it's probable he's the one who shot B.P., since he had a previous firearm charge on his record
    Carol: That's good news.
Cody: And get this, he's just took a bus into Novi.
Carol: What? I'm not sure I like that sound of that.
    Cody: I'm not afraid.
Carol: Something just does not feel right about this. If he was the one shot B.P., then why would he come back to town? It would be too risky.
Cody: I don't know, but Wilkins said that he's going to start watching this guy.
    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

Later on, at a diner, B.P. is disguised in shades and a hat. He's meeting with a man.

B.P.: You should not have come here, you could have blown my whole operation.
Man: I want reassurance that I'm not going to go down in all of this.
B.P.: I told you would be in the clear. The D.A. knows I'm alive and he's probably not going to pursue this case any further in order to save his career.
Man: They dropped the charges against the chump you wanted to pin it on, what if somebody else catches on and comes looking for me now?
B.P.: You listen to me, you idiot. The Donahues have some nosy private detective snooping around and they already have a description of you.
    Man: What?
B.P.: Yes and he's been around asking questions about some of my connections that could lead to you.
    Man: Damn it.
B.P.: You better pray that he hasn't been following you.

B.P. races out of the diner.

Outside the diner, Wilkins is parked in a car with tinted windows. Fade to black.

The next day, Lynette is sitting in her kitchen drinking tea when she thinks back to his kiss with Greg the night before.
She's snapped out of her thoughts by the doorbell. She answers the door and finds Jim on the other side.

Jim: I think we should talk.

Lynette sighs and looks a little nervous.

    Jim: Can I come in?
    Lynette: Um, yes of course.

    Jim comes inside.

Jim: Your mother had a little talk with me yesterday.
Lynette: Well, I didn't put her up to it.
Jim: No, I know you didn't do that. I'm here because what she said made me think.
    Lynette: Really?
Jim: She made me realize that we need to discuss some things, open up the dialogue a little more.

Lynette keeps her back turned to Jim and won't look him in the eye.

Jim: Are you all right? You seem nervous.
Lynette: Nervous? No, I'm fine, I'm just trying to take in what you are saying.

He puts his hands on her shoulders.

Jim: You know I love you, don't you?
    Lynette: Yes.
Jim: All of this has been so hard for me, I don't know how to sort my feelings out.
Lynette: I guess you just need your space.
Jim: It's just that I'm afraid that things might not work out, you know.

    Lynette continues to look nervous.

Lynette: (thinking) What am I going to do?

At Lightner headquarters in Detroit, Cassandra comes into her office and finds Yvette waiting for her.

Cassandra: What are you doing here?
Yvette: If you're going to make threats, do it to my face. Don't be a coward and do it over the phone.
Cassandra: I simply made you an offer.
Yvette: Listen, I don't have any control over the building contract, that's up to the joint board of directors for the project, which
    I do not sit on.
Cassandra: You're still on the inside, surely you can find a way to improve the odds of Lightner succeeding.
Yvette: I have no desire to help your company do anything, I just wish you would back off.
Cassandra: I'm afraid that's not going to happen.
Yvette: What do you get out of this? Does any of this change what my father did? No.
Cassandra: I've spotted an opportunity and I'm taking. This project could help this company make the Fortune 300.
This is just business as usual and I have a really good bargaining chip.
Yvette: If this is all about business, I can find you a contract with another company. I have connections, all over the country.
Cassandra: I want this contract and you need to help me get it.
Yvette: I will not be blackmailed by you.
Cassandra: Oh, but what about your precious family? The premiere retailers of the Midwest and Eastern Seaboard, a golden dynasty
that can't in any way afford one tarnish.
Yvette: Would you listen to yourself? You are so bitter and full of resentment.
Cassandra: No, dear, the only thing I've full of is ambition.
Yvette: Ambition doesn't mean playing games that could hurt people.
Cassandra: I learned a long time ago to only look out for me.
Yvette: Well, maybe I'll start playing some games of my own, maybe something to make you rethink this stunt you're pulling.
Cassandra: You're out of your league, dear.
Yvette: That's what you think. Didn't I tell you before not to underestimate me? Good day.

    Yvette leaves.

At the courthouse, the custody ruling is about to get underway, Edmund, Stephen, Leigh and Leigh's lawyer, Ben are present. Anna is sitting in the spectator area, behind Edmund.

Anna: (whispering) Have faith, you're not going to lose those kids.
    Edmund: Thanks, Mom.

The judge enters the courtroom and gavels the hearing in.

Judge Becker: I take it that both parties involved and their counsel are present?

    Stephen: Yes, your honor.

    Ben: Present, your honor.

Judge Becker: All right, then lets get down to business. After carefully reviewing the case, I have come to a ruling that I think is best for the children. Based on testimony given by various character witnesses, even some from the petitioner's own family, I have ruled that Mr. McGregor should retain custody of the children.

    Leigh: (whispering) Damn it.

Ben: (whispering to Leigh) We can appeal.

Judge Becker: The children are in a very stable environment right now and I see no reason to uproot them.
    Leigh: (whispering) This is unbelievable.
Judge Becker: The children's mother, the former Mrs. McGregor will be granted visitation rights, the terms of which will be discussed at a later date.
    Edmund: Thank you, your honor.

The judge gavel's out and leaves. Leigh immediately walks over to Edmund.

Leigh: You can bet that I am going to appeal this travesty.
Edmund: Please, would you just let bygones be bygones here. No more fighting.
Leigh: I don't want my sons raised by you to have them turn into holier than thou hypocrites like you.
Edmund: I've offered you a truce for the good of our kids, if you cared about them you'd take it.
Leigh: I want what's good for my kids and being raised by me is what is good for them.
Edmund: Be truthful here, isn't the only reason you want full custody is so you can stick it to me?
Leigh: Oh, yeah, it's always "me, me, me" with you.
    Edmund: Tell me the truth.
Leigh: Frankly, I don't waste that much time thinking about you. You might be basking in the glow of victory now, but when all is said
and done, we'll see who has custody of those kids and believe me, I will make sure that it's me.

Leigh walks out, Ben goes behind her.

Yvette is at McGregor's Novi Store, looking for someone. She finally finds Teddy taking inventory.

    Teddy: Mrs. Browne.
Yvette: Just call me Yvette, I never really cared for all that formal title stuff.
Teddy: Okay, Yvette. What can I do for you?
Yvette: I've heard that you are pretty good digging up dirt on people.
Teddy: I don't exactly go around bragging about it, but yeah.
Yvette: I need your help finding information on someone.
    Teddy: Who is it?
Yvette: It's a woman who is becoming a real thorne in my side.
    Teddy: I don't come cheap.
Yvette: I'll pay you well, I'm prepared to give you an advance. You'll get the rest when the job is done.

Yvette shows him an envelope filled with cash.

    Teddy: Looks good.
    Yvette: So you'll do it?
    Teddy: I'll do it.

Yvette hands him the envelope and he puts it inside his jacket.

Carol and Trish come running into Cody's hospital room, where Dr. Claiborne is.

    Carol: Dr. Claiborne, what's wrong?

Dr. Claiborne: Your son is regaining consciousness. I'm still checking his vital signs.
    Carol: Oh, thank god.

    Cody: Mom?
    Carol: I'm right here.
Dr. Claiborne: His vital signs seem okay as of now. I'm still waitiyng on a test result, I'm going to go get it.
Carol: Thank you very much, Doctor.

    Doctor Claiborne leaves.

Carol: You've given us quite a scare.
Cody: I've hope this isn't the beginning of a series of very unfortunate events.
Carol: Please, no jokes right now.
    Cody: Sorry.

    Trish: How do you feel?

Cody: My head is in a bit of fog.
Carol: Dr. Claiborne has been taking good care of you, you inhaled so much of that gas.
    Cody: Gas?
Carol: That's how you ended up here, there was a gas leak at the house.
Cody: That's right, I remember smelling the gas and going down to turn it off and (pauses)
    Carol: What?
Cody: I seem to remember feeling someone pushing me.
    Carol: Pushing you?
Cody: Yes, someone pushed me down the steps. Then the door was jammed and I couldn't open it.
    Trish: My god.
Carol: Okay, now this is getting even more scary.

At Wilkins' office, there is a knock at the door. Wilkins opens it to find Norm on the other side.

    Wilkins: Norm, come on in.

    Norm comes inside.

Norm: You said that Peters guy who tried to frame Cody was here in town?
Wilkins: Well, I'm not sure if he's still here, but he was a couple of day ago.
Norm: There was a gas leak last night and Cody got caught in it, he's in the hospital now.
    Wilkins: Good lord.
Norm: And when I was at the house this morning, the investigators told me there was some sort of bonding agent on the gas valve that
    stopped it from moving.
Wilkins: You think that Evan Peters was behind it?
Norm: I don't know, but it's clear now that this wasn't an accident.
Wilkins: Um, this might explain some of my findings.
    Norm: What findings?
Wilkins: I tracked Peters a couple of nights ago and I saw him meeting with some man.
I snapped a few shots and I blew them up.

Wilkins hands Norm the folder with the pictures.

Norm: These are pictures of B.P. Charles.
Wilkins: That's what it looks like.
Norm: He's dead though, how can this be possible?
Wilkins: Your guess is as good as mine. As crazy as it seems, B.P. Charles could be alive and trying to get revenge on Cody.
Norm: I need to track down this Evan Peters, he could be the key to everything.
Wilkins: Wait a minute, you could be playing with fire here.
Norm: My brother is in the hospital right now, if someone tried to kill him, I want to go after them.
Wilkins: Peters has mob connections, you'd be crazy to try to lean on him.
Norm: Just tell me where Peters is.
Wilkins: You're mother already has one son in a hospital, she doesn't need something to happen to another. I'm a good friend
of hers, I don't want to be responsible for anything that happens.
Norm: You won't be, I'm the one doing this. Please, just help me out, my family could be in more danger.

    Wilkins thinks for a second

Wilkins: All right, but I'm going with you. I know more about these type of people than you do.
Norm: Whatever, I just want to get to the bottom of this.
    Wilkins: Let's go.

Wilkins grabs his keys and both of them leave.

    At the hospital

Carol: You're absolutely sure you felt someone push you?

Cody: Yes, there's no doubt. That photograph makes sense now.

    Trish: What photograph?
Cody: I've got to get a hold of Wilkins.
Carol: What was in this photograph?
Cody: If I told you, you'd think I was crazy. I just need to get in touch with Wilkins.

Cody tries to get up, but starts coughing.

Carol: You need to stay right where you are, you aren't strong enough.
Cody: Somebody tried to kill me, I can't just sit around!

Wilkins and Norm return to Wilkins' office

Wilkins: I figured Peters had already skipped town.

Norm: It was worth a try.

    Linda: He didn't skip town.

    Wilkins: What do you mean?
Linda: The police picked him up in Detroit at the airport on some charges, big charges related to fraud.
    Norm: Well, this is interesting.
    Wilkins: What?
Norm: If he's in jail on big charges, he might start talking. He's going to need a lawyer
Wilkins: You're going to represent the guy who tried frame your brother?
Norm: Right now, all I'm concerned about is finding out who tried to kill Cody and I think Peters is
my only chance at getting the whole story.
    Wilkins: Perhaps.
Norm: I'm going to get over to the police station, if there's anything new, call me on my cell.
    Wilkins: Sure.

    Norm leaves.

At B.P.'s compound, B.P. is in his office when Detective Lewis come rushing in.

    B.P.: What going on?

Lewis: Peters was nabbed, he's in jail right now.

    B.P.: Nabbed for what?
    Lewis: Something about fraud.
    B.P.: Damn.
Lewis: He could easily dime you out.
B.P.: And he could do the same to you.
Lewis: No one can trace my involvement in all this, I've made sure of that. I've got a family, I can't afford to go down.
B.P.: I don't think so, If I go down, everyone goes down.
    Lewis: You can't do that.
B.P.: Oh, I can. You should have made sure Peters got out of town without being caught, you knew he could be a problem.
Lewis: What was I supposed to do?
B.P.: Never mind, you just make sure that I can get out of here with no trouble.
    Lewis: What about Donahue?
    B.P.: Well, he's not a problem anymore.
    Lewis: You didn't hear?
    B.P.: What?
Lewis: He survived that little accident you set up for him.
B.P.: This day just keeps getting worse and worse.
Lewis: What are you going to do now?
B.P.: I can't worry about that now, I've got to get out of the country.

At Greg's office, Lynette has just walked in.

Greg: I wouldn't have called you if I didn't think there was something you needed to know.

Lynette: This sounds sort of serious.
Greg: I'm not sure, but it could turn out to be that way.
Lynette: I need to hear this, please just tell me.
Greg: Jim came to my office the other day and he was asking a lot of questions. When he left, I got
the feeling that he might have sensed something about us.
Lynette: Why do you think that?
Greg: He wanted to know why you were switching doctors and I don't think he's buying the explanation.
    Lynette: Oh, no.
Greg: I'm not for sure that he sensed something, it was just the expression on his face that made me think that he did.
Lynette: He asked me questions too, I didn't know what to say to him.
Greg: I'm so sorry, I feel like this is my fault.
Lynette: Don't blame yourself. We don't even know if he really knows anything.
Greg: But if he does, it could spell trouble your marriage.
Lynette: That's what I'm afraid of. If Jim was to find out anything about this, it would hurt him so bad.
He could start- I don't even want to think about it
    Greg: He could start what?
Lynette: Awhile back, Jim's mother told me he had very serious drinking problem when he was a teenager and could
be prone to relapse if he suffered any sort of emotional pain.
    Greg: My god.
Lynette: All I can do is pray that Jim doesn't find anything out.

At the McGregor Estate, Anna is looking at her wedding album, when the doorbell rings. She answers the door to find Jim on the

Anna: Jim, what brings you here? Come in.

Jim: I'm sorry to just show up like this, Mrs. McGregor, but I needed to talk to you about something.
    Anna: What is it?
Jim: It's about Lynette. I told her I was ready to move back in, but she acted a little odd, like something is wrong.
Anna: Maybe she's still trying to deal with everything that's been going on her life the past few months.
Jim: I came over her, because I know she talks to you sometimes, did she tell you anything about her reason for changing doctors?
Anna: This is the first I've heard of it.
Jim: I don't understand any of it, it's all so sudden. And on top of that, Dr. Roosevelt was acting very nervous when I asked him about Lynette.

Anna thinks back to when Lynette told her about she and Greg's kiss.

Anna: I honestly don't know what to tell you.
Jim: It's strange, the way those two are acting, it's almost seems like something is going on between them.

    Anna starts to look nervous.

    Jim: Are you all right?
Anna: Yes, I'm fine. I'm just dealing with something else right now and it been sort of hard on me.
Jim: I'll go then, I don't want to be any trouble.
Anna: No, you're not any trouble. You can talk to me anytime.
    Jim: Thank you, Mrs. McGregor.

Jim leaves. Anna picks up the phone and calls Lynette's cell.

Anna:(into phone) Lynette, I'm glad you picked up. Jim was just here and he's figuring out what's really up between you and Dr. Roosevelt. No, I didn't tell him anything, it wasn't my place. My advice would be to tell the truth, before Jim finds out in the wrong way.

    Anna hangs up.

Stephen: Your client told mine that she's dropping the appeal.
Ben: Dropping it? This is the first I've heard.
Stephen: Really? She hasn't discussed this with you?
Ben: No, I know nothing about it.

    Norm: Long time, no see.

Leigh: It's so great to you again.

    She hugs him.

Norm: I was surprised when I got your call, we haven't talked in ages.
Leigh: I found your name in an old address book and I thought I'd look you up.
Norm: How come you never called me more often? We were pretty close awhile back.
Leigh: I've lost track of a lot of people from my past.
Norm: Well, I guess that happens to everybody.
Leigh: I see the ranch is still looking nice as ever.
Norm: Yeah, I like to come out here once and awhile to clear my head. It's peaceful.
Leigh: How has your family been?
Norm: We've had a rough time the past few months, but I think things will be looking up. The family's closer than it's been in a long time.
    Leigh: That's great.
Norm: On the phone you said you needed help with something?
Leigh: Oh, yes. You see, I'm divorced and I'm going through a very intense custody battle.
Norm: I sorry to hear that.
Leigh: I can handle the marriage breaking up, I just can't handle not raising my kids.
    Norm: How can I help?
Leigh: Two things, one you can help me get a job. Edmund gave me a divorce settlement, but that won't last forever and I figure getting a good job will help me look better in the eyes of the court.
Norm: For you, I can certainly do that.
Leigh: And second, you've always been good at one upping you enemy, I was wondering if you could help me find a way to, make Edmund's character less squeaky clean, maybe dig up some dirt.
Norm: You know every squeaky clean character can be tarnished in no time.
Leigh: That's the kind of talk that I like.
Norm: I'll see what I can come up with.
Leigh: Thank you so much, this is my last resort.

    She hugs him.

John: You've been a good friend and business partner in the past, it's no problem.
Anna: Come on in, I have lunch on the patio.

They go onto the living room and sit down.

Anna: So, how is everything with you and your family?
John: Not bad at all, Denny and Hoover have their jobs at the dealership and Teri's in Europe modeling, but she's coming back to town soon though.
Anna: I'm so glad to hear that, you've always had a lovely family.
John: So I heard about this whole thing with the hostile takeover? What's that about?
Anna: It's a messy story, but bottom line, we're about to lose control of the company and I didn't know where else to turn.
You've always been a brilliant corporate raider and litigator, so I thought you could help me find some sort of loophole.
John: I'm assuming that the provocation for this takeover must have been something big.
Anna: It's purely personal, the result of long held resentment.
John: You're going to have to clue me in some more.
Anna: Andrew was a bigamist and had a child with his other wife.
    John: Seriously?
    Anna: Unfortunately, yes.
John: I'm sorry to hear that. It really surprises me, Andrew always seemed like a stand up kind of guy.
Anna: Everyone thought that. Now I'm left to deal with the situation he created because of his dishonesty. His son and his other wife are
taking all this frustration out of me and my family.
John: Any way that I can help you, you know I'll do it.
Anna: My attorneys are looking over this, but can't seem to find anyway out. I was hoping you could assist them.
    John: Will do.
Anna: Thank you, I really need all the help I can get right now. Everything has been so stressful.

Christina: I was going to call you, just thought I'd get settled first.
Edmund: I was just about to have lunch, would you like to join me?
    Christina: sure.
    Edmund: Waiter, table for two.

The waiter leads them to a table and they sit down.

Edmund: So, what brings you back to Novi?
    Christina: Uhm, business.
    Edmund: What? No pleasure?
    Christina: That depends.
Edmund: From what I remember, you don't go anywhere without haven't a little bit of fun.
Christina: I've changed some, although not too much.
Edmund: So how have things been with you?
    Christina: I've been doing well.
Edmund: Wish I could say the same.
    Christina: Trouble in paradise?
Edmund: Yep. Nasty divorce, custody battle, the whole nine yards.
Christina: So sorry to hear that.
Edmund: I'm getting by, but it's been so rough on me.
Christina: Precisely why I never got married.
Edmund: I sometimes think I shouldn't have gotten married, but when I look at my kids and I don't regret it.
I just wish I had married someone better.
Christina: Everyone makes the wrong decisions now and again, doesn't mean we can't recover from them.
Edmund: I suppose. If you don't mind me asking, how long are you staying in town?
Christina: Well, my plans aren't quite set yet, I had a few things that needed to get done here, but
I've been looking to stay in one place for awhile.
Edmund: Good, it'd be nice to have an old friend around again.

In Flint, Jim has just woken up and slowly walks into the kitchen where is parents are at.

    Eleanor: Good Afternoon.

    Jim: Afternoon?
    Elliot: It's 12:30.
    Jim: I slept that long?
    Eleanor: Yes, you did.
Jim: I just had so much on my mind, I guess it made me oversleep.
    Eleanor: I guess so.
Jim: I'm going to take a walk for some air, I need to clear my head.

    Jim goes outside.

Eleanor: I don't like this, I don't like it at all.

Elliot: After what happened, it's not surprising he's in such a state.
Eleanor: I haven't seen him like this in years, not since--.
Elliot: Since he was drinking? You don't think?
Eleanor: Look at him, that isn't the state of someone who is just depressed.
Elliot: I pray that it isn't that.
Eleanor: I do too, but it doesn't look good.
Elliot: Let's try not to think negative.
Eleanor: It scares me, he barely made it through the first time, what's going to happen

Elliot puts him arm around her and looks concerned. Meanwhile, Jim is at a bar down the road. He's sitting at the bar, when a woman sits down next to

Woman: You look like you got a lot on your mind.
    Jim: That's an understatement.
Woman: Most folks who stop in here have all sorts of problems, what's yours?
Jim: I usually don't tell my business to strangers.
Woman: Suit yourself, I just thought you could use an ear.
Jim: Then again, I've lost everything, telling you isn't really going to hurt me.
    Woman: Let's hear it.
Jim: Long story short, I just found out my wife cheated on me.
Woman: That's rough, I've heard a lot of those stories.

The bartender slides Jim a beer.

Woman: Seeing what you're going through and how it seems to have effected you, you need something a bit stronger than that.
    Jim: Like what?

The woman reaches into her pocket and pulls out a bottle of valium.

Jim: I don't go that far.
Woman: Come on, what have you got to lose? It's better than feeling so down.

Jim looks at the pill bottle and contemplates taking the woman up on her offer. Fade to black.

It's the night before Thanksgiving and Anna is baking pies. Yvette comes in.

    Yvette: Evening.

    Anna: Hello, Yvette.
Yvette: I came over to see if there was anything I could help with for the dinner.
Anna: Thanks, but I can handle everything, I do this every year. Besides, I need to stay occupied, I've got a lot on my mind.
Yvette: You've seemed really stressed the past few weeks.
Anna: I've just been scrambling to finalize the plans for the spring collection and that's always very stressful.
Yvette: But I've never seen you this stressed before in all the years you've handled the seasonal collections. I understand this whole situation with Cassandra and finding out that Dad was married to her has been a burden, maybe you need some time off from work to heal.
Anna: Work keeps me going, if I'm not working, then I get even more depressed.
Yvette: I'm used to seeing you so upbeat around the holiday time, it's odd seeing you so down.
Anna: Well, things don't stay the same all the time.
Yvette: And to think, I started this whole mess because I thought Cassandra could help me finance a shopping
mall. I really am sorry, I should have used better judgment.
Anna: We're past that now, I'm not angry at you. I'm angry at your Father's lies. And besides, I'm sort of glad I found out, secrets like that should never stay hidden.
Yvette: It's more disbelief for me. I just wish there was chance to ask him why he did what he did. I guess we'll be wondering forever.

Anna has flashback of when Andrew showing up at the door.

Yvette: Mom, are you all right?
Anna: What? Oh, yes, I'm fine.
Yvette: You seemed to be in another world for a second there.
Anna: Just lost in thoughts again.
Yvette: You're going to get through this, Mom. It won't be easy, but you're strong and I know you can do it.
Anna: That's easier said than done.

Anna sits down and looks pensively out the window.

Andrew: Obviously, I changed my plans.
Aaron: So is it truth telling time?
    Andrew: Already done.
    Aaron: And?
Andrew: Anna wants nothing to do with me.
Aaron: But at least the truth is out and perhaps she'll forgive you in time.
Andrew: I don't know if she should. First off, I lied about my first marriage and that turned her life upside down and then I come back alive, years after letting her grieve.
Aaron: I told you a long time ago that you should have contacted Anna, you were able to get in touch with me
after the Philippine Military rescued you from the ocean, you could have reached your wife too.
Andrew: You know I didn't want to go back in the condition I was in.
Aaron: And in the end, that pride cost you a lot.
Andrew: It hasn't cost me anything, I'm going to fight for my marriage and my family.
Aaron: You've got a lot to sort out, including fixing things with the son you haven't seen since he was an infant.
Andrew: I've fought my way through tougher situations.
Aaron: Man, I would not want to be in your shoes right now.
Andrew: My family is the most important thing to me, so I'm willing to endure whatever I have too in order get things back on track.
Aaron: I'm glad you finally decided to face the music.
Andrew: I never thought my little brother would be the one to talk sense into me.
Aaron: I suppose stranger things have happened before. So how do you plan on fixing this? It's not going to

    be easy.
Andrew: I've come up with a plan, I don't know if it will work, but it's worth a try.

    Jim: Thanks.

Jim goes to the office and takes the call.

    Jim: Hello?

Lynette: Jim, you sound a lot better than you did when we last talked.
Jim: I'm making a bit of progress.
Lynette: I'm thrilled to hear that. The kids ask about you all the time, they miss you.
    Jim: I miss them too.
Lynette: I was calling because your lawyer dropped off the final divorce papers and said that you requested that things still be expedited.
Jim: Yes, I did request that.
Lynette: I just wanted to call you and make sure that this wasn't going to effect your progress, a divorce is painful on it's own, but during rehab? Are you sure you don't want to wait to do this after you've finished the program?
Jim: I appreciate your concern, but having this over quickly is what is best.
Lynette: I do agree with that, but I don't want anything to jeopardize your progress.
Jim: If anything, it's helping me further ahead. If I'm going to get better, I have to let go of all the anger and regrets I have inside me. My counselor and I have talked here and she agrees that in my case, this
is what I have to do.
Lynette: You seem to know what you are doing.
Jim: I'm getting a lot of my good judgment back, something that I lost a long time ago.
Lynette: I know I keep apologizing, but-
Jim: Don't, we both made mistakes and casting blame now is pointless. We had a good thing for awhile, but now it's over and I've got to accept that.
Lynette: I still feel bad though.
Jim: Another reason why I'm doing this is because I care about you enough to let go. I know how that shrink feels about you and you seem pretty hung up on him, I can't stand in the way of that.
Lynette: You're being far more decent to me than you should be. I know how hard this is.
Jim: It certainly is hard, but like I said, it's the right thing.
    Lynette: I'm pulling for you.
Jim: Thank you, that means a lot. I better get off the phone now, don't want to tie up the office for too long.
    Lynette: Take care.

    They hang up.

At Lightner in Detroit, a woman walks into George's office looking for him, but finds Cassandra.

    Cassandra: Can I help you?

Woman: I'm looking for George Lightner.
Cassandra: He's not in right now, but perhaps I can help you. I'm Cassandra Lightner, Co-CEO.
Woman: Pleased to meet you. Anyway, I've been trying to get ahold of George for days, so could you please

tell him to get in touch with me, my name is Teri, I'll write down my number.

Teri writes down the number on a piece of paper.

Cassandra: If this is about a business matter, I might be able to resolve it.
    Teri: It's not business.
Cassandra: Okay, well I will tell him you were here.
Teri: Thank you, I appreciate that. It's very important.

Teri leaves. Cassandra wonders what could be going on with George.

Later on, at the Phelps House, John and his sons Den and Harry are at in his office discussing the family business.

John: Now that I've both of you here for Thanksgiving, we should talk about Phelps Motors.

Den: Are you coming back from your leave of absence?
John: Actually, I'm not coming back.

    Harry: What? Why?
John: Although I enjoy selling cars, my first love is corporate law and working on the situation on M.I. made me realize just how much I missed it. The SEC liked my work and they offered me a job.
    Den: Is it in DC?
John: No, it's in Detroit, so I won't have to move.
    Harry: Congratulations.
Den: Yeah, I can see why the SEC would want you on their team.
John: Thank you. But all that aside, we need to figure out what the structure will be at Phelps Motors from
now on. Now, Den, you've been running things since my leave of absence, so I'd like you to be in charge and I'd like your brother to assist you.
    Den: Sounds fine to me.
John: Harry, what do you think?
    Harry: No complaints here.
John: And I do want to keep a position open for your sister. I know she's in Europe modeling, but sometimes those jobs can dry up and I want her to have something to fall back on.
Den: Teri's such a rebel, I doubt she'd take that even if all her gigs dried up.
John: Nevertheless, I'm leaving a door open for her.
Harry: Didn't she say she was coming for Thanksgiving?
John: She said she'd try to make it and you know with her, you can never tell what she's going to do.

Back at the McGregor Mansion, Alma is arriving she and Alma's Aunt, Martha.

Alma: Anna, look who I found at the airport.

    Anna comes downstairs.

    Anna: What's going on?

Anna pauses when she sees Martha.

    Anna: Aunt Martha?

    Martha: It's me.
Anna: Why didn't you tell anyone you were coming?
Martha: No point, I just get up and go. And besides, it was an excuse for me to visit so we could talk about that whole mess about your husband.
Anna: We talked about that on the phone weeks ago
Martha: It's not the same as talking in person, this kind of thing requires a face to face talk.
Anna: I'm so talked out about it.
Martha: We still need to talk, there's something else I've got to say to you. Alma, could you give us a minute.
Alma: Sure, I'll just go make some tea for us while you talk.

    Alma goes to the kitchen.

Anna: I don't know what else that could possibly be said about the situation.
Martha: You could try forgiving your husband and letting go of all the angry.
Anna: I'm not angry, I'm hurt.
Martha: Sure, he made a mistake, but you've got a good husband and you can't let him slip away.
Anna: What are you talking about slip away? Andrew died a long time ago.
Martha: Don't try to pull that on me, I know he's not dead.
    Anna: What?
Martha: Unless I was dreaming, Andrew called me and begged me to help him get your forgiveness.
Anna: Oh, I cannot believe he would involve you.
Martha: He did it because I'm the only person who can talk sense into you sometimes.
Anna: I've got plenty of sense. You might be like a mother to me and everything, but that doesn't mean you can pass judgment on my decisions.
Martha: Look, I'm not saying you have to just forget about what he did, but you had a good life with him and had children, I just don't want you to throw away your second chance without at least thinking about it.
Anna: The man didn't even have the decency to tell me he was alive right away, he waited years. Plus, there's the other thing about our invalid marriage.
Martha: You remember back at the funeral how upset you were and you wished you had another chance to say a
lot of things you never got to say to Andrew? This is your chance.
Anna: Don't you think there's a part of me that just wants to take him back and live the life we had? It can't happen though, there are too many issues.
Martha: At least give him a chance to try and make up for it.
Anna: Maybe I can in time, but not now.
Martha: If it's one thing I learned in my life, there are times that you can't waste time, you have to grab opportunity and work out the kinks later.
    Anna: Where is Andrew?
Martha: He's still in town, I've got the number and address of where he's staying.
Anna: I'll probably regret it, but let me have the number.

After a very long hiatus, Varied Lives will be returning to SON and SONOP.

"November is going to be a good month for Varied Lives and the stories are going to make up for the long hiatus." says the head writer.

So what can we expect to see? The head writer didn't drop many hints, other than that some characters that have been on the back burner will be moving to the front. "We'll be seeing some new character interactions, new friendships and of course, new rivalries."

And same as last year, Varied Lives will have a Thanksgiving Special that is a can't miss for viewers. Head Writer Phillip Connelly says, "This year, the special is going to be very character driven, but stories will be progressing greatly."

Varied Lives returns later on today. Get Ready.
  16. ReddFoxx
After a very long hiatus, Varied Lives is back and better than before. Head Writer Phillip Connelly had this to say.

“The show will be coming from a fresher perspective. I am adhering to a single vision theory and letting the characters drive the story rather than the plot from now on. The progress of the stories will be in real time, meaning that the show's time line will pick up about one year from when the last episode aired. The show is definitely going to be more sleek, but still maintain the modern edge.”

When asked about specifics, the head writer had this to say.

Cassandra: “Cassandra is still trying to regain George's trust, as George is still trying to get over the fact that she lied about his father. Cassandra decides to take a new career path, which makes for more tension.”

Yvette: “Yvette is running McGregor Inc. now that Anna stepped aside to work on her relationship with Andrew. Yvette's approach to running the company is tough and unwavering, which will be a key element that makes the character a strong lead.”

Donahue Family: “Carol wants to take her family's business to the next level, but struggles with a slow moving economy. An unlikely alliance will form and that will take the rivalry with the McGregors to another level. Carol's children will also be involved in some entanglements of their own.”

George: “George is still trying to fit in with his new found family, but is still finding it difficult. His business practices may also take a turn, proving that he's more like his mother than he would like to admit. He'll also have to deal with other problems to deal with.”

Phelps Family: “Teri will be entangled with George mostly, but a new character will play a part in the story for added tension. The rest of the Phelps Family will be involved in a storyline that is to say the least, very shocking. Dark secrets will come to light and shake up the family.”

    Other news:

The show is now two episodes a week, maybe more if storyline dictates it. The head writer said, "I'm aiming for basic storytelling with very character driven stories, I feel I can better do that with a short week."

There have been some recasts. The head writer stated that some roles were recast to coincide with the relaunch. “Some of the casting was never quite how I wanted it, now I am more satisfied.

    Casting:

Phylicia Rashad joins the cast taking over the lead role of matriarch Anna McGregor. Other additions to the cast include Jada Pinkett-Smith as Trish Donahue-Dutcher and Daphne Duplaix as Lynette McGregor. Bow Wow is also joining the cast in the role of Hoover Phelps.

Carol is in the waiting room of the hospital, when Norm comes in.

Norm: Mom, I rushed over here as soon as I got your message.

He goes over to Carol and hugs her.

Norm: Has the doctor told you anything about Cody yet?
Carol: Not yet. I can't believe that this is happening.
    Norm: What exactly happened?
Carol: I came home and the house smelled of gas. I found Cody passed out in the basement, it looked like he was trying to turn the gas off.
    Norm: My god.
Carol: They took him back there an hour ago, what is taking them so long to tell me something?
Norm: Hopefully they'll tell us something soon.

Just then the doctor comes out.

    Dr. Claiborne: Mrs. Donahue?

    Carol stands up

Dr. Claiborne: I'm Dr. Claiborne, I've been treating your son.
Carol: How bad is it, Doctor?
Dr. Claiborne: He is breathing on his own, but he hasn't regained consciousness yet.
Carol: Do you know when he might wake up?
Dr. Claiborne: It's too early to tell when he might regain consciousness. And we're still running tests to see what effects the gas may have had.
Carol: If there is any change, please make sure I know right away.
Dr. Claiborne: Of course, ma'am. And rest assured, we're doing all we can for your son.
    Carol: Thank you, Doctor.

Dr. Claiborne goes back into the ICU.

At Stephen's law office, Stephen is going over Edmund's custody case with him.

Edmund: What's the plan of action if the judge doesn't rule in my favor?
Stephen: If it he doesn't, we can appeal to a higher court.
Edmund: And what are the chances there?
Stephen: I'd say you'd have a 50-50 chance of getting the ruling overturned.
Edmund: I still don't understand how the judge could even consider giving Leigh custody, she left those kids without a second thought.
Stephen: At the hearing, you played right into Leigh's hands, she wanted to make you appear as confrontational and irrational. With her testimony, she goaded you into losing your cool and mouthing off every 2 seconds. It didn't exactly make you look like father of the year.
Edmund: But, everyone knows that I've been nothing but a good father to my children. Numerous people testified to that.
Stephen: You know, what the judge saw with his own eyes is going to reflect most on you. The judge may intepret your antics in court as an example of your parenting skills.
Edmund: I was just so frustrated, I couldn't take listening to all those blatant lies she was telling.
Stephen: Right now, there isn't much else that can be done, except prepare for a potential appeal.

Edmund rubs his forehead and then looks at a photo of his children in his wallet.

I figured you didn't feel like cooking.
Lynette: Oh, that was very thoughtful of you, thanks. It's just me though, the kids are at a sleepover at one of their friend's house.

    Greg hands her the bag.

Lynette: Why don't you come on in? I don't really feel like having dinner alone tonight and I'd really like to try and get my mind off things.
    Greg: All right.

    Greg comes inside.

Greg: You know, most people don't really like seeing their shrink twice in one day.

Leigh: You ready for court tomorrow?
Edmund: Worry about your own preparedness, don't worry about mine.
Leigh: (laughs) You just love to snap back at everything.
Edmund: Lately, you've been putting out a lot for me to snap back at.
Leigh: When we were first married, you were so carefree, now you are just so, cynical.
Edmund: Not cynical, I just grew up, something you failed to do along the way.
Leigh: If you consider yourself the definition of grown up, you're really sadly mistaken.
Edmund: Look, I don't want to argue with you, I just want all of this mess you've started to be over.
Leigh: It will be over when I have my children.
    Edmund: We'll see about that.
Leigh: You're not going to keep them away from me.
Edmund: I have no desire to, you can see them anytime you like, but as far as full custody goes, I don't think that's a good idea.
Leigh: I just needed some time for myself, but I came back. I didn't just abandon them and the court doesn't see it that way.
Edmund: You left without notice and were gone for months, the kids kept asking me where you were and I didn't know what to say to them. You split because you couldn't handle being a wife and a mother anymore. After that, I don't want those kids to be put through anything else.

    Edmund storms out.

Carol: I just lost your father last year, I can't lose one of my children too.
Norm: Mom, don't think like that, Cody is going to pull through this.
Carol: You're right, I can't think negatively about this. But I'm still scared.
    Norm: I'm scared too.
Carol: I forgot to ask, did you get a hold of your sister?
Norm: She was in Chicago, she's making her way back here now.
    Carol: Good.

    Carol gets up.

    Norm: Where are you going?
Carol: Outside, I need some air.
Norm: You want me to come with you?

Lynette: It was nice to be able to take my mind off my problems for a little while.
Greg: You know, I've never done this for a patient before.
    Lynette: I had guessed that.
Greg: I shouldn't even get this close to a patient, but--
Lynette: You're just doing what you think is right and I'm glad you are.

Norm: I'm a lawyer, Norm Donahue.

Evan: But I didn't call any lawyer.
Norm: I know, but I have my reasons for being here.
Evan: Did you say your name was Donahue?
    Norm: Yep.
Evan: You wouldn't happen to be related to--
Norm: Cody is my brother, the one you framed.
Evan: Then why do you want to help me?
Norm: To be clear, I am not doing any of this for your benefit.
I'm trying to get information on who tried to kill my brother.
Evan: I'm going to say this up front, I didn't have anything to do
with what happened to your brother. I admit that I bought that gun in his name, but that was it.
Norm: With the charges you're facing, rubber checks and money laundering, I'm guessing you will get some serious time.
    Evan: I figured that.
Norm: But, if you tell me everything you know about B.P. Charles, I can try and arrange a plea deal.
Evan: What's there to know, he's dead.

Norm pulls the photographs of B.P. out and puts them on the table.

    Greg: We need to talk.

Lynette: I got few minutes before I have to leave, so sure.

Greg: It's about what happened last night.
Lynette: You've been thinking about it?
Greg: Yeah, I didn't get any sleep at all. When we kissed it felt so right, but at the same time I knew it was so wrong.
    Lynette: Me too.
Greg: I'm starting to think I shouldn't counsel you anymore. I mean, as I doctor I'm obligated not to get involved with a patient.
Lynette: The kiss was just an impulse.
Greg: I think we both felt something. Besides, it's not just the kiss, I feel that we are connected on an emotion level
that is not appropriate for a doctor and patient.
Lynette: I can't deal with this right now, especially since Jim has told me he wants to try and fix things.
Greg: That's great and it's all the more reason that I think I should refer you to another therapist.
Lynette: If you think it's for the best.
Greg: I'm positive it is. I care about you too much to cause you any more strain.
Lynette: You haven't caused me any strain, you've been a friend and helped me through a very difficult time.
Greg: I've crossed a line I shouldn't have. I'm supposed to help fix marriage, not break them.
Lynette: When we kissed it was mutual, you aren't the only one to blame.
    Greg: I know.
Lynette: Then you shouldn't beat yourself up about it.
Greg: Like I said, it's more than that. It's the way I feel. I don't think it's right that I feel this way about a married woman.
Lynette: We can't control what's in our hearts.
Greg: But we can keep ourselves from doing the wrong thing.

    Greg hands her a card.

Greg: That's the number to very good marriage counselor. She been practicing for years and is very good.
She can definitely help get your marriage back on track.

Evan: I'm not sure about ratting on anyone.
Norm: I'd guess you'd prefer years in prison then.
Evan: How soon can we get a deal?
Norm: As soon as you tell me what you know about B.P. Charles.

    Evan hesitates for few seconds

Evan: Is it a sure thing I'll get a reduced sentence?
Norm: I think it's a sure thing, the federal prosecutor has cut deals with others in exchange for testimony.

Evan hesitates again, but eventually starts to ta

Evan: Fine. I bet on a lot of horses in Detroit, I ended up on a huge streak, thought was unbeatable.
Until I made a huge bet, over $20,000 because I was so sure I was gonna win. The horse ending up losing and B.P. Charles came after me.
He said the only way he would excuse my debt is if I bought a gun in Cody Donahue's name.
    Norm: Then what happened?
Evan: I did it and brought the gun to him. Then, he told me what the other part of his plan was.
    Norm: What was that?
Evan: He wanted me to shoot him. I told him that it was insane and that I wouldn't do it. He then decided to bring my family
into the equation and threaten them.
    Norm: So you did it?
    Evan: I didn't feel I had a choice, I didn't want risk my family's safety.
Norm: Let's get to the rest of the story.
Evan: Well, after he was shot, I don't know much of what happened, all I know is he survived.
Norm: So he is alive? Do you know where he's at?
Evan: My guess is that he's somewhere in the mountains, he was drove off i a sport vehicle after he met with me.
Norm: Is that all you know?
    Evan: Yep.

Norm: Yes, he said that B.P. survived the shooting.
    Wilkins: How?
Norm: Never mind that now, we've got to find out where B.P. is right now.
Peters said he could be in the mountains.
Wilkins: Of course, there's a route that leads up there, it's where people go when they don't want to be bothered.
Norm: How soon can we get there?
Wilkins: Right a way, but there's a chance he might already be gone.

At the Athletic Club, Leigh is meeting with her lawyer.

Leigh: I hope you have come up with a plan how to get my kids back, I was very disappointed with the outcome of the hearing.

Ben: Look, I did everything I could. In these kind of cases, the individual has to demonstrate they are person of character.
Leigh: I thought that's what I was doing.
Ben: All you've been doing is trying to make your ex-husband out to be the bad guy.
Leigh: I didn't try to make him out to be a bad person, I just wanted to point his value, which I think are the wrong ones
    to teach my children.
Ben: What you need to focus on now is getting yourself together, you need to show the court that you are a stable parent.
Leigh: I thought I showed them that.
Ben: In court, You didn't give them any reason why you should get custody, other than Edmund has the wrong values. I tried
to warn you, but you didn't listen.
Leigh: Okay, I get what you are saying, but how am I supposed to go about this? I need more advice.
Ben: Well, first off, you need to start being a little more civil with Edmund. For your children's sake, this shouldn't remain a bitter custody battle.
Leigh: I'll do whatever it takes to raise my children, so if that's what it takes, so be it.
Ben: And remember, you'll have to have some patience, appeals take awhile and nothing changes overnight.
Leigh: Good, I need all the time I can get, I need to be able to plot of my move. I think I might have a good idea now of what I'm going to do.
Ben: I'm advising you now, if you are planning on coming up with some sort of scheme, don't do it, it could blow up in your face.
Leigh: I gotta get myself a little leverage, you haven't come up with anything surefire yet.
Ben: If you ruin your chances, don't say I didn't warn you.
Leigh: I'm about to find a way to make the court view me in the best light possible, the last thing I'd do is ruin my chance.

Anna is in her office with Yvette. Anna has learned the truth about Andrew from Cassandra.

Anna: Please tell me that none of what that woman said was true.

Yvette: I wish I could, but I'm afraid it is.
Anna: When I met with George, I felt there was just something about him that was familiar.
I didn't say anything, because it was just a feeling. Now I know why.
    Yvette: I'm so sorry.
Anna: How could he have done something like this? I mean, if the story is that way that Cassandra told it, that means
he married me while he was still legally married to her.
Yvette: I know all of this is upsetting, but try to remember all that you and Dad built. You raised 4 children, you started a successful corporation and you had a strong relationship.
Anna: Yes and it was all based on lies.
Yvette: I never wanted you to find out.
Anna: How exactly did you come into contact with this woman anyway?
Yvette: Well, it's a long story.
Anna: I'd like to hear it.
Yvette: I thought she could help me build that shopping center I've been planning.
Anna: The one you wanted to build on the conservation property your father set aside in his will?
    Yvette: Yes.
Anna: You know that I was against that when you proposed it months ago. So you just went behind my back?
Yvette: It was the wrong decision and I realize that now.
Anna: I can't believe this, I really can't. All of this because you just had to have your way.
Yvette: Mother, you've got to believe me. I never intended for anyone to get hurt, I just used bad judgment.
Anna: Well, the damage is already done. It couldn't possibly get any worse.

Carol is in her office, the telephone rings.

    Carol: (into phone) Carol Donahue.

George is on the other end.

George: Mrs. Donahue, this is George Lightner from Lighter Corporation.

Carol: I've heard of your company before. You're a construction company, right?
    George: That's correct.
Carol: Well, Donahue isn't seeking a building contractor right now, so why are you calling?
George: I think we could serve each others business interests very well.
    Carol: How so?
George: I'm looking to acquire a new holding and that holding just happens to be your competition.
    Carol: You're talking about McGregor?
    George: Exactly.
Carol: That's a big corporation to try and acquire, seems rather lofty to even think about it. How is it even possible?
    George: Are you interested?
Carol: I don't know, sounds risky, but I do like the idea of bringing McGregor down.
George: I'll fax you my game plan and you can look it over.
Carol: I'll check it out, but I'm not making any commitments.
George: Of course, no pressure. I think you're gonna like what I have come up with.
    Carol: We'll see.
George: Thanks for taking my call.

    George hangs up.

George: Plan B, set it motion

    Edmund: They're upstairs.
Leigh: I also wanted to talk to you about something.
    Edmund: Sure
Leigh: I want to work out the arrangements for visitation.
Edmund: I figured you'd be wanting to talk about that soon.
Leigh: I think we can work out fair arrangements, without all the lawyers and stuf.
    Edmund: Really?
Leigh: Yeah, I figure it will be better that way.
Edmund: I certainly would prefer to do this quietly.
    Leigh: Me too.
Edmund: You know, you seem a bit different than before. You're nicer.
Leigh: I'm trying to be more civil.
Edmund: Well, I'm glad to hear that.
Leigh: I also wanted to tell you, that I'm appeal the custody ruling.
Edmund: You're not? I'm kind of surprised to hear that.
Leigh: I don't see that point in getting into a long drawn out fight.
Edmund: You've done a complete 180 on all of this, why?
Leigh: Let's just say, I realized there is a better way of doing things.
Edmund: Hey, I'm not complaining, I never wanted to do this the hard way.
Leigh: I'm going to go on upstairs and see the boys.
    Edmund: Sure.

Leigh goes upstairs. Edmund starts to look a little suspicious about Leigh's new attitude.

Edmund: What is she up to now?

Yvette is sitting in her living room drinking coffee. Chester comes in the front door.

Yvette: I'm glad to see you. I didn't expect you to get back until tomorrow.

Chester: The project I was working on got stalled, I have to go back in a day or two when it gets
    back on track.
Yvette: I really needed someone to talk to.
    Chester: Is something wrong?
Yvette: Everything. I was up half the night at the office trying to settle the construction contract issue with the board. We finally settled on Greenwood.
Chester: I thought your Mother was in charge of that?
Yvette: She is, I just had to temporarily step in and mediate the situation, she wasn't really up to it.
Chester: Is she feeling all right?
Yvette: She's not ill, just upset.
    Chester: Why?
Yvette: I tried to call Cassandra's bluff and it didn't work out to well.
    Chester: Uh-oh.
Yvette: She came storming into my office yesterday and we got into a big argument.
My mother heard us arguing and came to see what was going on and Cassandra
just dumped the whole truth out right there.
    Chester: Oh, no.
Yvette: My mother is a so upset right now and I am so angry with myself for opening
    up this whole situation.
Chester: Does anyone else in your family know?
    Yvette: Not yet.
Chester: I imagine your mother would like to keep it that way.
Yvette: She's always been steadfastly against secrets, so I wouldn't be surprised if she clued
    the others in soon.
Chester: I guess this Cassandra won't be bothering you anymore now that the truth is out.
Yvette: She's not giving up, she's up to something and I know it.
Chester: Just hold out hope she isn't.
Yvette: She desperately wants to get her hands on my family's company, so it's
a slim to none that she's done causing havoc.
Chester: She certainly sounds like no joke.
Yvette: And I'm sure her son isn't either.

George and Carol are at the Athletic Club

George: I want to thank you for inviting me to lunch, I'm sure your schedule is very busy.

Carol: Of course, but I felt I had to make time for this.
George: I take it you reviewed the proposal I faxed to you.
Carol: I did, it looks really good. Seems very airtight.
George: Took me a long time to put it together, the biggest worry was the funding.
Carol: Your company has specialized primarily in construction, so what made you want
    to start acquiring department stores?
George: My intention is to move this company up in the Fortune 500 and expanding
our holdings retail was the best way to do so. Construction alone wasn't cutting it.
Carol: The retail business isn't easy, Mr. Lightner, it involves a lot of elements that require
    multi-tasking and clear vision.
George: I've tested the waters a little bit by acquiring a couple of retail stores out west, I'm steadily
    getting the hang of it.
Carol: Interesting, I didn't see those stores in the? list of current holdings you provided.
George: I acquired them under a different business name.
    Carol: Care to say why?
George: I didn't want my competition to catch on to my plans right away.
Carol: Smart. So what would our first move be, if I decided to come on board?
George: Make McGregor's shareholders restless, even more so than they are now. The whole
expansion deal McGregor is planning with Carter has made already them sort of nervous.
Carol: Add a little fuel to the fire, so to speak.
    George: Exactly.
    Carol: I like it.
George: Does that mean you are on board?
Carol: Airtight as it is, it still could fail.
George: But it could be successful. I know what a long and bitter history your company has had with McGregor. Why not settle
    the score like this?
Carol: My animosity with the McGregors goes beyond business, but we won't get into that.
George: Well, sounds like all the more reason to get on board.

George reaches to shakes Carol's hand. Carol hesitates for a second and then shakes his hand.

Carol: You've got yourself a partner.

Stephen: I was just about to go to lunch, but I can wait a few minutes.
    Edmund: Thanks.

Edmund: She even says she's going to drop the appeal.
    Stephen: What?
Edmund: It wasn't that long ago that she was determined to get the kids from me, now she's changing. I think she's up to something.
Stephen: Her lawyer, Benjamin Bonoff is one of the strongest thinkers in family law, it's possible he told her to change her strategy.
    Edmund: I believe it.
Stephen: But on the other hand, she might really want to settle things quietly.
Edmund: If you knew Leigh like I do, you'd know that she doesn't back down that easily.
Stephen: Wait this one out, see what happens. If she's bluffing, it will become clear soon enough.
Edmund: Maybe you're right, I might be thinking too negatively.

Anna, Yvette and Joseph walk into the boardroom at McGregor, one of the shareholders is waiting for them.

Man: I've been waiting for you. I'm Sterling Brooks, I represent the group of shareholders who have expressed concern over the leadership of this corporation.

    Anna: What's the problem?
Sterling: We believe that this joint venture with the Carter Company isn't solid and could lead to losses.

Joseph: This is a very solid business plan, we would have never gone through with it if it wasn't.
Sterling: A lot of us have a tremendous of money in this company, we feel that this deal needs to be reworked
    to avoid loss.
Anna: Our numbers have been crunched over and over again, we project a profit within six months.
Sterling: There is also a risk. You are taking over a chain of stores that haven't done business for years, what
makes you think they will do business under a new name?

Yvette: I suggest you take another look at our business plan.
Joseph: Yes, this project was approved nearly a year ago and there were no objections. Why the sudden change?
Sterling: As you know, Mr. McGregor, the economy isn't doing so well right now. It's just not the right time for
    such an expansion.
Joseph: I think somebody put you up to this.
Yvette: And I've got a pretty good idea as to who it was.
    Sterling: Let's not be absurd.
Joseph: I think you've already crossed that line.
Anna: Mr. Brooks, I think you should know that we have no intention of abandoning this plan, we've
put to much time and money in it.
Sterling: Then the shareholders vote will continue as scheduled. Good day.

    Sterling leaves.

Yvette: We are going to fight this.
Anna: That could be hard, we don't know exactly how many
shareholders are in on this yet.
Joseph: One thing I know is that we don't have much time
    to stop this.
Yvette: No matter what, we cannot let them get their hands on this company.

Carol is with George and Cassandra at Lightner in Detroit.

George: I think it's time we discussed logistics, it won't be
long before we are in control of McGregor.

Carol: McGregor is notoriously well structured, it always has been. That's a positive for us.

Cassandra: We should hold off making any plans until
we have everything in our control.
George: Mother, we have the votes, stop worrying.
Cassandra: Just being realistic. I'm sure Yvette has already
made it abundantly clear to her family that we want control. They're going to know where this is coming from and stop at nothing to thwart it.
George: So what? Even if they do, they can't stop it, because it's all legal. The truth coming out probably was for the best.
    Carol: What truth?
    George: It's a long story.
Cassandra: That I never get tired of telling to anyone who will listen.
Carol: I'm really curious to hear about this.
Cassandra: I was married to Andrew McGregor years ago and George is my son with him. One day, he just dissapeared
and I didn't know what happened to him until I saw him in a society page and found out he was married to another woman.
Carol: So Andrew was a bigamist? I bet that must have come as quite a shock to Miss Anna. I knew Andrew was an oily
character, but I didn't think he was that low.
Cassandra: When I married him, he seemed like a catch, but I was proven wrong.
Carol: So all this you two are doing is a bit of revenge for what Andrew did?
Cassandra: Revenge is such an ugly word, I prefer to say consulation.
Carol: Interesting way of putting it.
George: Now that we've heard that, can we get back to discussing business?
    Carol: Of course.
George: As far as I know some of the voting is taking place right now, but my proxy solicitor is still suring up votes
    just to be safe.
Carol: Sounds like it's too early to pop the champagne, but I think we should at least start chilling it.

Elliot: Lynette is a good woman, I'm sure she won't hold it against you.
Jim: I think it's too late, it feels like we are drifting further apart.
Elliot: Your mother and I have had our share of problems, but we've always worked them out. Your problem doesn't

Jim: I don't know, Dad, it just seems like things aren't going to work out.
Elliot: That's just fear, once you step up and do your best to set things straight, it'll all work out.

be saved, because I'm in love with someone else.
Greg: You really are making this hard on me.
Lynette: I'm sorry, but I have to start being truthful, for my own sake. I can't keep trying to hide how I really feel.
Greg: Part of me is glad to hear you say that and another part of me feels like I'm responsible.
Lynette: Jim and I were having problems before I even met you, it's not your fault. Maybe this is the way it was meant to be, maybe we
    were meant to be together.
    Greg: Maybe.

Lynette kisses Greg and slowly starts to undo his buttons.

Sterling: Myself and some other shareholders felt the board was getting dangerously
    close to mismanagement.
John: That's what I don't get, the company has done well the past few quarters and the
projected revenue for the next quarter is unprecedented.
Sterling: Private study of M.I's plan for expansion proved that it could lead to loss.
John: Why hasn't anyone been made privy to that study?
    Sterling: Shareholders have obtained copies.
John: But shouldn't the board of M.I. at least been given the chance to review said study, just
so they would know why they were being voted out?
Sterling: It was a simple miscommunication that prevented M.I. from reviewing the study.
John: I would like to have a look at it, do you have a copy I could review?
Sterling: Uh, not with me, but I can fax one to you later.

Cassandra: Good, just as long as we are clear on everything we will be just fine.
    Sterling: Perfect.
Cassandra: Now you're sure you covered your tracks on that fake study?
Sterling: You and I have the only discs that could incriminate us.

    Edmund is at Stephen's office.

Edmund: I want to thank you again for helping draw up the custody agreement, it's really the one that works best.

Stephen: I was glad to do it, but I called you over here to give you a little advice.
    Edmund: Sure.
Stephen: You ought to be cautious of Leigh, her sudden change of heart seems a little suspect to me.
Edmund: I think she just finally realized that dragging the boys through a long custody battle wouldn't
    do them any good.
Stephen: Perhaps, but I'd still be careful.
Edmund: I'm trying to keep positive, things are finally going my way.
Stephen: I've taken a lot of custody cases in my time and I've never seen a person have such a
    quick reversal in attitude.
Edmund: I know you are concerned, but I'm taking this one step at a time, I'm sick of worrying.
Stephen: That's fine, but you're treading a little close to rose-colored glasses territory.
Edmund: Look, I'm not naive, I know Leigh has schemed in the past. This time I'm hoping she's really
    turned over a new leaf.
Stephen: I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but this all seems too good to be true.
    Edmund: You really think so?
Stephen: I'm just saying be careful and don't let your guard down. The minute you do it leaves you
    open to a strike.

Aaron and Andrew are in the back towncar.

Andrew: Did you speak with Anna?
Aaron: She wasn't there, I spoke with Yvette.
Andrew: Yvette. She was always most like me, so I know she took right to the plan.
Aaron: She was very open to it.
Andrew: That's great. Did you see anybody else?
    Aaron: Nope.
Andrew: I'd really like to know how the others are doing
Aaron: I think all of this would be better if you were doing it.
Andrew: Let's not start that again.
Aaron: All right, I was just saying.
Andrew: My family is a mess right now. One son is trying to take the company from my wife and my other children.
And to think, all this drama stems from me being a fool when I was young.
Aaron: What's done is done, all you can do now is live for today.
Andrew: Anyway, what did Yvette say?
Aaron: She said I should talk with John Phelps, he's some sort of litigator.
Andrew: I remember him, he was a good friend of ours some years back.
Aaron: I'll give him a ring later then, see if I can get a meeting.

As they stop at an intersection, Cassandra is in the lane next to them, she glances over and sees Andrew.

    Cassandra: Andrew? It can't be.

Before she can get a good look, the light turns green and traffic begins moving again. As Cassandra continues driving, she looks puzzled.

    Cassandra: How could it be?
