  1. I stumbled upon an old episode on YouTube that I hadn't watched since it first aired. Susan Lucci and Eva LaRue deliver remarkable performances in the scenes where Erica pressures Maria into confessing about her one-night stand with Dimitri, just before Maria unexpectedly goes into labor. It's incredibly intense! Kudos to Lorraine Broderick for penning this storyline.

  2. I remember Katie Kennicott and the triangle between Joey and Emily Ann. Greta Lind, who played Katie, wasn't the strongest actress and I think that hampered the character growth of Katie.

It would have been nice to see a new generation of Kennicotts in the 2000s.

  3. By the end of the show, Jamie Lunar transformed into a reminiscent version of past Liza. Despite the age gap between Jamie Lunar and Michael E. Knight (as well as Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams), I didn't find it a big deal, unlike some fans and the press. Throughout her previous roles, Jamie Lunar consistently portrayed characters who seemed older than her actual age.

  4. Speaking of delusional... I went down a rabbit hole and pulled some quotes from a moment in time I think we all want to forget. But reading all of this back is hysterically funny.

    Cady on Dixie’s return (2005)

"I am thrilled to be returning to a show where I have such a long and beautiful history. It is an especially excellent cast, and I am looking forward to working with some new and very talented actors, as well as revisiting with some dear old friends," McClain said in a statement. "I hope the audience will enjoy the incredibly thrilling storyline Megan McTavish has created as much as I am going to enjoy playing it...."

Julie Carruthers on Dixie’s death by pancakes (2007)

"You have to understand that it can affect anybody, you know? It's not just the girls in Fusion who you only see once a week. It's people who are pivotal to the environment, as well. I'm trying to say this in a way that doesn't undercut what the Fusion girls have meant to the canvas, particularly those three characters who've been attacked [simone, Erin and Danielle], but a character with as much history as Dixie.... It shows that nothing is sacred and nothing is safe.

Cady on the writer who penned Dixie's death by pancakes (2020)

“I was asking the writer [to include a] scene where Tad and Dixie take their kids aside to make sure they know that their [dad] killing someone was wrong,” she shared. “I thought this would be OK. Turns out it was a bad day for an ‘ask!'”

Danny Cosgrove was one of the actors marked as going places early in his AMC run. He was part of the hunk invasion all over the soap mags (Tanner, Jake, and new Scotty). Though his character was basically a side player on AMC, it’s positioned him to get a few teen movie roles and the 90210 gig, back when an Aaron Spelling placement still meant something! Of course, he bounced back to Guiding Light, and had consistent daytime work. I think his days run was so underrated, except for the dumb move of making him a villain when he really had great long term appeal with Hope

Daytime's version of Ted McGinley. Just kidding... sort of.

  6. I've been re-watching 1980s episodes and can't help but feel disappointed that Mark Dalton's character didn't stick around after 1989. It would have been beneficial for Erica to have another non-child relative. Mark LaMura's performance was truly impressive.

Not really, no. Tad was supposedly constantly away on various P.I. investigations, straining his marriage to Dixie who the show began testing with the widowed Dr. Anders. But Tad has a voice cameo in the season finale as Jesse calls him to come home and help with a situation - I think hunting down Cassandra's Russian traffickers - and says 'I'm on my way' or something, which I think is the last line of the series. I believe Tad appears in shadow onscreen in that sequence while on the phone, but it's anyone's guess if that was MEK.

Thanks for the reminder. I wonder if the show pulled MEK's audio from an old episode or if that was a fresh voiceover.

This article mentioned that Michael E. Knight appeared in the Prospect Park reboot, but I don't think that's correct. I know the show referenced Tad a lot and was building towards him coming back to the show had it returned for a second season. But I don't believe MEK ever made it on screen. Am I wrong?

  9. It was great to see Jill Larson on Live with Andy and Mark. Despite that fact that Mark forgot the name of Eva's character in the previous episode, Mark (as well as Kelly) do have a strong affection for All My Children to this day.
