From what I understand, TPTB felt like Dane's acting wasn't up to snuff. Mark Arnold was coming off a 3-year run at The Edge of Night, so I can see where they felt he brought more acting experience and possibly a following to the table. But to me, it's an example of this paradox I've noticed in soaps where you can sense that the recast is a more experienced actor than the person they replaced, yet at the same time, the choices they make with the character make it less likable. Like I feel like Mark Arnold was frequently overanimated and yapping in people's faces about something or other, so to me the character became more obnoxious and Shouty McYellerson. And the fact that they killed Joe off less than six months later when in the beginning he was one of THE major characters would indicate they felt this new take wasn't working either.

It's other soaps too. Another example that comes to mind is when Chrystee Pharris took over Simone on Passions. She was clearly a more experienced actress than Lena Cardwell, but Simone went from being sympathetic to a self-righteous harpy. I have similar thoughts about Gina Gallego as Santana on here. Definitely a more experienced actress than Ava Lazar and Margaret Michaels, but whether it was the writing or her choices or both, her Santana to me frequently came across as annoying and an argument waiting to happen. And even though she was probably the greenest as an actress, to me the character never popped off the screen again as a major character the way she did when Ava Lazar played her.

In hindsight, maybe they'd have best been served to get a strong acting coach for Dane and Ava first before jumping to recasting!

Dane Witherspoon was fired following a disagreement with producers not his acting.

What does it have to do with cleaning up or not cleaning up stories? It's not my favorite idea but it is an entirely new development. I still don't think Dex is long for the canvas and/or the world.

If anything, this is a potential story to allow for more time to either find him a place in-canvas (out of Josslyn's world) or to simply write the character out.

I remember people praising this girl to the high heavens a year or two ago. It's a pity she's too young for say, Lulu on GH.

Had they not aged Lulu she would've been age appropriate. Lulu was introduced in 1994, and Lanier was born in 1990. And, technically, her birth year was retconned to 1988, so Lanier is only two-years younger than that. Both Berman & Rylan were meant to be playing younger than they are in-real-life.

If Martha was a little older you could (and I would) pass her off as a recast of Liz's scheming mother Carolyn on GH, unfortunately I don't know that it's quite plausible although she has visibly aged and Becky Herbst hasn't. (Especially if you reintroduced Sarah as an older sister, then it gets tricky if you cast someone like Tognoni who is only four years younger than MB lol) Yes, Martha played Andrea Floyd for 10 mins but who cares.

I try not to think about the QAnon-adjacent path her situation with her husband seems to be going down.

My goal casting would have been Robert Newman & Kim Zimmer as Elizabeth's parents. Seeing Zimmer vs. Laura Wright's Carly would've been a HOOT! And yeah, I try to not think about Byrne's personal life in that regard because it's disappointing.

Since you brought up casting....if Nicholas Chavez doesn't return as Spencer. Might I suggest Mick Hazen who played Parker on ATWT. He's older that Chavez but eh...lol

Hazen is happy living on the east coast; won't be happening.

I heard two things online and wonder if anyone here can confirm or deny them.

    1. I heard that NAC gave an interview in which he trashed GH.

    2. I heard that Roger Howarth was fired by ABC executives and that it was over Frank Valentini's head.

    1. No.
    2. Anyone who knows the answer knows they probably shouldn't confirm or deny it, unless from a press media site (which would likely never confirm/deny such things).

The stuff we saw last night with Mia and G is what Robyn and Juan should have given us. Had they been real and raw like that, she'd have saved her job. Instead she put up a front and gave us nothing. The focus will be on Mia now bc Robyn fumbled to make the show about her (and she had all the tools to do that). Robyn has little to nothing left to offer and she has herself to blame

Mia sucks and should've been canned during her first season. Period. Point blank. And Wendy can go, too.

I'm surprised and not surprised. Candiace was giving me grumpy 'I'd rather be anywhere but here' vibes, not just this season but last season. too. 'Late-stage Nene vibes' as someone on social media put it. This may be for the best, but it does leave Wendy almost completely without allies. This may be a season where half the cast goes (Candiace, Ashley, Wendy), or where some people's jobs are saved (hey, Robyn) because production fears enacting a bloodbath. And speaking of production, it needs to be replaced, too.

Shame. Now, if only Mia & Wendy could follow her, then we'd be the right direction!

  8. Some should be careful, because things they try to keep secret come to light in a moment of laziness. And it won't bode well for them or those you try to "protect." And acting high and mighty isn't a cute look, especially when you're not entitled to the respect and admiration you seem to believe you have.
