  1. Bad Boys For Life veers from calculated, crowd-pleasing antics to laughable attempts at serious drama so often, I thought I was watching a Rocky sequel.

  2.  Joker sucked, in case anyone was wondering. Forgive the spoiler, but did we really need another depiction of the Waynes' night out at the movies? Also, I'm gonna say it again, some people seem to think best = most when it comes to acting.

@DramatistDreamer I was sitting in the last row of my theater. There was less than 20 of us. For the first 15 or so minutes, we kept the door open. I can't speak for everybody, but I sure wasn't going to get up and shut it, just in case. Finally, some late arrivals did when they entered.

@DRW50 Seriously. And it's not like the type of thing where you can put a fresh spin on it. I will admit that the idea of Thomas Wayne being a self-serving, empathy-lacking rich guy (but still not completely Trumpish) was interesting. Having De Niro as a Johnny Carson-type played better than I expected. And Frances Conroy is always compelling in material that's not worth her.

That sounds nerve-wracking @Franko I don't think I could take anything in, in terms of plot or what was going on in the movie if I was worried that I'd have to make a run for it. I'm curious as to whether the box office will reflect any of that unease (and also the fact that the movie seems pretty bad).

It's an unpleasant movie to begin with, and that didn't help matters, @DramatistDreamer. It's predicted to make $90 million this weekend (but who knows?). Given trends, it could break into the top 10 and ultimately gross more than Us but less than It Chapter 2. The Disney and/or Marvel block is going to be too hard to break.

  3. The rumors are true -- Bill Hader is excellent in It. There's a moment late in the film that just about gutted me.

Yes, very true, especially about the heartbreaking aspect and his expressive eyes. I do hope to watch Barry and Skeleton Twins (always so much on my viewing list).

It is one messy film but I enjoyed it a lot. He did great

Agreed, @Vee. I was surprised at how much I still enjoyed it.

  4. Decided it was time to finally have a profile photo.

      I'm a friend of Marcia's.

  5. I started watching season six of A Different World, @j swift. I'm only three episodes in (since my computer was being slow). The quintet of underclassmen (and Jenifer Lewis) are the most interesting people at the moment.

It's a shame that only season 1 was released on DVD.

@DRW50-- I wish it would have happened sooner. Once they ended up opposite The Simpsons, ADW's fate was sealed. I'm not looking forward to Whitley's downward mobility.

@j swift-- Jada started in the previous season. She and Gina are sophomores now. Whitley moved from the dorm directors office (where Freddie and Kim now live) to her place with Dwayne. No, this is the Boyz II Men intro (which some long overdue updates in vignettes). Amazon Prime.

It's streaming on Prime last I knew

  6. Michelle Pfeiffer in Ant Man and the Wasp, Nicole Kidman in Aquaman, Annette Bening in Captain Marvel ... Kim Basinger waits by her phone.

  7. I'm not 100 percent sure, but some audio from DOOL might be in The Incredibles II. There's a bit where Jack Jack is watching TV, and it sounds like Marlena is talking to Josh Taylor's Roman. If that wasn't odd enough, the scene's taking place at night.

  8. So, I was just thinking. You know how in soap opera love scenes, they'll usually cut to the couple's feet to imply someone's naked. You think that's led to a generation of foot fetishes?

Exactly. And going back on what was barely an apology to begin with is the icing on the cake.

Yeah, I didn't find anything wrong with what he said. The internet likes to be upset but that doesn't mean Renner should apologize to professional upsetees

If it was just Internet outrage the studio wouldn't have asked them to apologize in the first place. He's a hypocrite. He gave a half-assed apology he tried to walk back to look cool on TV, as his acting sure isn't going to do it.
