      • Is this issue now working? I made no changes to the system since the upgrade just to be clear.

damn. I havent kept up with it. Just know that people have been making a big deal about it here and all we had was a little rain with no signs of a big storm, yet

  7. #BasketofDeplorables is such an apt catchphrase that looks to have staying power. :D

  8. The fact that the earthquake that happened in Italy occurred between 3-4 am, at that intensity is frightening. So many wouldn't have known what hit them.

  9. Paul Manafort, Trump Campaign chairman, resigned, not that this will change much. That campaign has been a revolving door of staff lately.

  10. The sad fact of the matter is that Lochte & Co. believed that the poor reputation of the Brazilian police and goverment would give them a free pass to lie about the vandalism they committed in their public drunkeness.

Wishing someone jail time seems harsh, but what they did was wrong. I feel they do deserve some minor jail time. Everyone involved with this lie deserves some consequence for it, not just one.

  11. Spamming y'all again but 103 episodes of 21Jumpstreet are up on Yahoo!

  12. If Season One of Melrose Place didn't do it for you (some of you told me so-LOL:lol:), Yahoo! has now uploaded a few more episodes from other classic shows on their site, including the Mary Tyler Moore show (which I admit to not viewing many episodes of this show).

Of course @Cheap21:lol: never stop.  Yahoo! really seems to need those page clicks, their site is a total mess and they've just been acquired by AOL, of all companies. (the 90s are back y'all!).

I don't know if they'll ever be desperate enough to start putting up any daytime soaps but hey AOL did it once, maybe AOL could use Yahoo! to do it again?

I actually like season one lol. Once Jo arrived it was REALLY good and that's the only season Jo was entertaining. Season two was mostly a snooze IMO. Season three is when it really got good.

I liked the original idea behind Melrose Place. Pre-L.A. Complex at that.

I like season one, too! Yes, the first dozen or so episodes are hit or miss (mostly miss), but once they started finding their groove with Allison, adding on Jo, and then of course the intro of Amanda, it was early-90's awesome! :)

  14. I've heard some gleeful mentions of the fact that both George Zimmerman and Dylann Roof got punched out today, which also happens to be President Obama's Birthday.  I'm sure someone conspiracy theorist will find a way to blame him but for now, I'll just meditate on the aspect of Karma!

Lol @DRW50 Carl I though of both of Penelope Keith's TWO characters as well! The Good Life/Good Neighbours was fun, but To the Manor Born was likeable but always felt so pretentious.

I can't wait for the market to open, so I can scrape my pennies together and buy. I always follow Warren Buffet's advice and buy when the market is panicking. A billionaire AMC fan can't be wrong.

I had been re-watching a whole lotta 80s ATWT then early 90s.  I started watching mid 90s recently and some of it is good, some of it is not, so my attention has kind of drifted away.  I don't feel that urge to watch/binge on 90s episodes like I did with the 80s.

I've been watching Santa Barbara from 1984. It was a work in progress but compared to present day soaps it's masterpiece theater. Also watching ATWT from 1999. It's a mixed bag but still better than what we are offered now.

  19. Ali was a complex man, a man who could slay in the boxing ring and slay you with the words that came from his mouth.  He could taunt cruelly and be give of himself so completely that it hurt him.  He could exalt himself in all his vainglorious-ness while simultaneously lifting the cause of others and putting attention on the needs of others.  His charm and ease in use of words could put the listener at ease yet at times his words managed to unsettle many.  Loved, then despised and loved again by some.  Admired by many, inspired many to imitate him in words or deeds, never will there be another of his making.  RIP Ali.

Reading about him all weekend, the thing he did wrong was his treatment of Joe Frazier.  Apparently Frazier never forgave Ali for receiving the Ali treatment when it was Frazier who helped him during the banned years (even loaing him money) and lobbied for his reinstatement.  Ali turned him into a foil he made fun.

    3. DramatistDreamer

      DramatistDreamer

@DRW50, thanks.  I wrote it in kind of a stream of consciousness type flurry of words.  I realize there are a few minor grammatical errors but oh well.

Yes, Joe Frazier was hurt by Ali's words and I'm not sure Ali recognized the seriousness of how deeply his taunts wounded Joe.  Also, Ali expressed regret at how he turned his back on his friend/mentor Malcolm X and was unable to make it up to him before Malcolm  was assassinated.  He once told Malcolm's eldest daughter that he somehow, he hoped that Malcolm would know how deeply Ali loved him.

Ali was a great man and a great spokesman for Black people, Muslims and the marginalized but he was also a human being capable of pettiness and meaness, like the rest of us.  He was flawed but the good overwhelming the bad.  Joe Frazier also was human and unfortunately flawed, in that, unlike people who have been able to forgive the seemingly unforgivable, he could never find it within his heart to be open to forgiveness.  Sad, really.

  21. Watching CSPAN livestream of the White House Correspondents' Dinner Red Carpet and one of the commentators mentions Will and Jada Pinkett Smith as the camera closes in on Carmelo Anthony and LaLa.

      DramatistDreamer

@ReddFoxx, the commentator tried to cover for the cameraman who went to the wrong couple, the commentator was like "they're over there, there they are" before the cameraman caught on and finally zoomed in on Jada and Will.

I thought the President was funnier than Larry Wilmore tonight.

I loved that Wilmore skewered MSNBC, CNN, Morning Joe, Trump et al. but his timing lagged a bit.   The best part for me was how uncomfortable he made his audience.

I had those same thoughts about W. Bush before he got elected.  I probably just should've gone, especially seeing as I actually have relatives in Canada (lol).  My finances really suffered under Bush, I don't want to ever go through that again :/  So I'm definitely thinking the same.

  24. Is TV too "bloated"?  What do you think of this article?

Forget Too Much TV. It's Too Big TV We Should Worry About

    1. DRW50

      DRW50

It reads like typical NYT navel-gazing to me. There has regularly been overextended season and series premieres and finales. NBC was infamous for it in the "supersize" era, draining every penny of advertising dollars they could for a few more minutes of Friends. That they actually think this is new reminds me again of how oddly dated much of their television coverage is.
