  1. Weren't some of us recently discussing the John Landis Twilight Zone Movie tragedy?  Apparently Eddie Murphy's comments about Landis have resurfaced and are getting a second look.

Amazingly, none of that stopped Landis and Murphy from working together again on "Beverly Hills Cop III" -- although, judging from how that film turned out, maybe it should've.

Oh, the Battle of the Stars done another way, LOL.

Just earlier this week, I was remembering the time I heard about that story Holly Robinson (before she became Peete) told about punching Robin Givens in the face when they were teenagers, LOL.

  2. The Lion King is still likely to make a sh*t ton of $$$ despite the reviews that are currently coming in.

    1. ReddFoxx

      ReddFoxx

Just being The Lion King alone is enough to bring in money and Beyonce being in the voice cast will bring in even more dollars. What they did to "Be Prepared" was incredibly disappointing and makes me want to wait for the DVD.

    2. YRBB

      YRBB

One of the reviews I saw gave it a D (!!) and now to hear they effed up "Be Prepared"? Sigh. I'm still going to watch, but I'll temper my expectations.

I'll admit that I was highly surprised when I heard a remake was being done as I believed a remake to be totally unnecessary.

  3. Why does anyone need HBO Max?

A good HD antenna will bring in about 30 stations for me, so I'm good with that and a shared Netflix account and some free online TV/movie sites. I can barely keep up with streaming/viewing as it is.

@ReddFoxx meanwhile the best we can do with the shows we love is grainy YouTube video. They need to gtf over themselves!

@All My Shadows Seriously, if SoapClassics could resurrect their website and start streaming P&G classics again, I'd be as happy as a clam!

  4. When you want to post a soap topic for discussion but you don't because you just know the trolls are going to want to post in the topic thread.

Yep. Every thread I post in has been derailed by the one troll. If you don't agree with their crazy opinions (which most people don't), get ready for 5 pages of the thread being derailed.

      DramatistDreamer

What I don't understand is why are folks still replying and quoting troll.  That goes a long way to keeping him/them engaged.  That troll has tried to bait me by quoting me and I've ignored them.  I feel like if others were truly bothered, they'd do the same but when I often look in threads, that's not what I see.

    4. Vee

People had to learn with J*NNY the first time and apparently some people want to learn all over again to make sure people know how cool they are by telling a troll off over and over and over and over.

  5. The Atlantic provides a deep-dive analysis of what likely happened to Malaysian flight MH370 and even though the conclusion made about the pilot was what I suspected from the beginning, it is nonetheless a chilling account.

It does seem very...brief, to say the least.  The one aspect that both men appear to agree on is that Malaysian authorities appear to have been less than forthcoming in the aftermath.

It just seems emotion based and outraged. The rebuttal is weak.

    4. DramatistDreamer

      DramatistDreamer

Yeah, I definitely sense some professional rivalry and defensiveness in that rebuttal post.  Even after reading the first piece, it did occur to me that it seems unlikely that we'll ever truly definitively know what went on in the mind of that pilot, we can only really surmise what could he have been thinking of.

      DramatistDreamer,

Unfortunately, I do think that the story about Larry King is true. TMZ has often been right about things like that. I hope he ends up having a good recovery and will be okay. But that is definitely another scary situation.

It's bad enough that 2019 claimed James Ingram -- now it's coming after Peabo!

I just hope Lionel Richie and Jeffrey Osborne are doing okay.

Wow @Vee you're making me want to see this film all over again- it's been many years. Gentrification is happening in earnest in Oakland these days.

  13. Looks as if film director John Singleton suffered a mild stroke.  I think the silver lining in this is that because it was mild, he was able to check himself into the hospital because he was aware of the signs.

  14. For years I've been saying that a revamped Capitol would not be out of place in today's political environment.  This definitely goes with the times.⬇️

      LOL!!

But seriously, if not a CAPITOL reboot, then a new, political-themed soap certainly would be successful.

Glad to see a soap meme coming out of this mess. Politics is a soap opera right now and the material for adaptation is almost endless.

It's an older post (well, not that old, from a few weeks ago) that includes a picture of her an Bette Midler where she recounts her on again off again relationship with Rob Lowe.  Nothing really new but it's funny that she casually mentioned Rob's cheating with Princess Stephanie of Monaco which caused a temporary breakup before they got engaged.  They were at some event featuring Prince when Midler randomly asks her something like "So, Princess Stephanie...what the hell was that?" and Melissa Gilbert laughs and flashes her engagement ring.  What's hilarious to me is that she tagged Rob Lowe in addition to tagging Bette.

Well, at least she's not gossiping behind his back.  And I guess after he tried to drag her in his first memoir, she's more than entitled to return the favor, lol.

  18. Am I the only one who didn't know that Jada Pinkett-Smith was named after her mother's favorite soap opera actress Jada Rowland? I'd love to see Ms. Rowland as a guest on Jada Pinkett-Smith's Red Table Talk series as I honestly don't know much about her (Ms. Rowland).

    1. DRW50

      DRW50

I didn't know that either. Wow. I would love to see her interviewed. I have some old '70s interviews but that's about it.

I wonder if anyone has told Jada Pinkett about the Doctors reruns with Jada currently airing.

    2. DramatistDreamer

      DramatistDreamer

I wonder if they ever met.  From what I read Ms. Rowland is an artist, a painter.  I'm not a member of Facebook so unfortunately I can't post there.  Somebody should mention it though, lol.

I only heard that recently. I doubt that Jada and Jada ever met, so it would be interesting.

  19. Happy International Women's Day and OMG!

  20. I was Today Years Old when I found out that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' current girlfriend Lauren Sanchez' ex-husband is the brother of soap writer, Christopher Whitesell.  Apparently, Patrick Whitesell is one of the most powerful "figures" in Hollywood.  Draw you own conclusions as to Christopher Whitesell's viability in the industry and the reasons behind it.

I don't think so.  It appears that Patrick Whitesell was only ever married to Lauren Sanchez (they have three kids) who now dates Jeff Bezos.  According to IMDB, Evans was married to a guy named Robert Eth before her current husband, an actor.

    3. YurSoakinginit

      YurSoakinginit

Their other brother, television director John Whitesell, was EP of Another World and Search for Tomorrow in the mid-late 1980's. He also worked as a producer on Guiding Light and Texas.

Their late brother Sean - an actor / writer himself, was married to Sanchez's former KTTV Fox 11 news colleague Maria Quiban, until his death in 2015.

Chris and John's work in soaps / TV in general started before Patrick's career really took off.

With the possible exception of his time under Marland, Chris Whitesell's work on ATWT was not good.

Apparently, he had been pleading with the Homeowners Association to remove it and they kept telling him they'd look into it.  I can't blame him for wanting to tear it down.  Don't think I could live in a place that calls itself a Plantation.

I was looking for a new house early last year. My white realtors asked me about "Kelly plantation" subdivision. I told them me and my daughter can't live on a plantation. They got quiet lol
