  1. For some reason I woke up reminded of Katie Holmes' masterful ploy that got full custody of her daughter away from Tom Cruise and the CoS in a lightspeed divorce. Quietly keeping an apt in NYC and taking work that filmed there, and doing it all in record time before he knew what hit him. If you told me Katie fuckin' Holmes would be the woman to outwit Scientology I'd never have believed you. A move worthy of the soaps.

I heard that GH has its 2-bit cult story but somehow I think that they lack the imagination or creativity to write something akin to the Katie Holmes story. That story is more classic daytime soap (i.e. 30 years ago).  Maybe a good primetime soap on AMC, Netflix, Amazon or Hulu.

  2. Not quite a reboot but I loved this!

Robin Thede (who briefly had a late-night BET show) played Sondra.  I heard Jackée loved it!

      No problem @Khan

Sorry if I made you feel obliged to respond, Khan.  With so many status posts, I admit, I jumped on the first one I saw, lol. My bad.

Chinese characters, I'm pretty sure, which makes sense considering that China, as well as Russia and the U.S. are countries that have become known for producing hefty amounts of spam and malware.

"When you see something, say something" as the phrase goes.  Every single time you see it.  Yes, it's a chore but it's what has to be done, there has to be a proven pattern of consistency of disruptive and poor behavior in order for removal action to be taken so report it as soon as you see it, and don't wait for someone else to do it, even if you think someone else has done it, the more board members who press the "Report" link, the more impact it will have.

I'm at the point where I'm not even ranting publicly in the threads anymore (it gives trolls more oxygen to persist because they feel gratification from annoying folks), I just use the "Report" link and keep it moving.

And a  lot of those Third World countries (hate that term, by the way), particularly Latin America and the Caribbean, don't manufacture guns-- the guns are being smuggled in from the U.S.  So the U.S. is actually exporting gun violence to other countries.

      You're welcome @Khan.

In terms of what happened at that Brooklyn block party and the aftermath, the Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams, a former police officer himself made an interesting comment about community policing and anti-violence programs.  He said that, while in other neighborhoods, community policing is actually encouraged, in neighborhoods like Brownsville (where the shooting took place) community input is actually seen as an insult to many members of the police department.  He also stated that local anti-violence programs are poorly funded by the city.  The staff, who often risk their lives in some of the city's grittiest corners, are severely lacking in resources because so little money has to be stretched across so many departments in various locations. While these programs have shown success, their reach is restricted due to financial limitations.

Just read this article, which was interesting, especially when the Rev. states that

"I also think there is lots to learn about white Americans’ obsession with guns and how that is impacting the violence in communities of color. It is our responsibility, as a mostly white church, to be actively engaged in dismantling white supremacy and creating racial equity."

I know it's The NYT but, in spite of this, it is a timely article.

America (including the unfortunate mainstream media) likes to paint many other countries as chaotic and unstable but have any of them tried really looking at the mess that's happening in the U.S. every single day??!  Can't celebrate "Old Timers' Day" in peace.  Can't go out to a food festival without putting your life at risk.  SMH.

Anyone looking at the U.S. from the outside must wonder how this country hasn't erupted into mass protests at the state of things!

  14. Anyone following this craziness with men's swimming?  I'm sorry I missed out on the actual competitive races but apparently Chinese swimmer Sun Yang and his fellow competitors do not get along!  I'm reading about it all now but I'm going to go to YouTube later on to see if I can get some video footage, lol, because this drama I want to see!

I read that Sun allegedly smash a vial of his blood that anti-doping testers had just collected from him before they could leave with it! :o  Apparently, the testers did not show proper I.D. before asking to take the sample but whoa, what an extreme reaction!  Why not just contact WADA?

  16. So sad to hear about Charles Levin. I used to have a crush on him when he played Vera's husband on Alice. He helped make the last few seasons less empty. Sad to know he and Beth Howland are gone now.

Just read about this very sad story.  He was a very talented character actor and television seemed to be the medium that was best suited to his talents.

In regards to the character of Coco on The Golden Girls, from what I read, writers/producers decided that Four was the magic number in terms of characters living in the house and they wanted scenarios where the "Girls" would interact with each other in the house in an organic way and thought that the kitchen, cooking would be an organic way for scenes and dialogue to flow between the four women--if there was a cook, they believed that there might be a slight barrier to those interactions between the four women.

I think the difference between Anthony of DW and Coco is that Anthony never lived in the house, in fact, most of the women on DW didn't live together, which was a big part of the dynamic between the women on GC.

Oh, the Battle of the Stars done another way, LOL.

Just earlier this week, I was remembering the time I heard about that story Holly Robinson (before she became Peete) told about punching Robin Givens in the face when they were teenagers, LOL.

It's what Kelly deserves.  Hopefully the young ladies who are still under his influenced can be rescued.

Jeffrey Epstein needs to face a similar fate and Weinstein needs to face some serious punishment as well.

A good HD antenna will bring in about 30 stations for me, so I'm good with that and a shared Netflix account and some free online TV/movie sites. I can barely keep up with streaming/viewing as it is.
