and you see what a thoughtful writing and direction can do?

I'm still marveling at how much better some actors seem after they leave the show.

I didnt mind him on Y&R. I recall alot of folks bashing him because they didn't like his looks because he didn't look like their Ken Doll fantasy and that like that non actor who played Kyle before him.

Lindsay Hartley came off as an immature airhead and really difficult on Queens of Drama. There was something about how she interacted with that guy she was dating that seemed like she'd be hell to deal with - really dramatic fights and lots of whining.

I was in The Gap in Vancouver when Justin was filming Smallville and he was with Lindsay and their daughter. They made an attractive couple (he was super tall in comparison to her, and she's tiny)...it's a shame when marriages don't work out, but at the same time...his reaction speaks volumes.

Smallville fans said she was really rude and obnoxious at their events

Yes, of course, I was talking about the past. Now, it's a definite that he will need intensive mental health.

What I have gleaned from others who have dealt with mental illness is that having a structured life often helped many of them feel like they were functional, as opposed to being at loose ends.

His character hasn't had much purpose for awhile now.

I wasn't proposing that he get better storyline now, he has critical health issues to contend with, it's life or death (not job) right now.

    I meant in the past.

I understand the need for stability but sometimes his job can be very emotionally taxing. And some of the themes probably hit close to home.

Hopefully he takes some time off to just be with his family and get treatment.

How very unfortunate. I hope he gets the mental help and support that he needs. His daughters, I'm sure want and need him to be there with them.

I remember reading about it on his Twitter feed sometime last year, I think.  This is why when some were calling for his character to be written off, I was silent because people are entitled to their opinions but I wondered whether maybe his job on Y&R might be one of the few things he felt he had.

You just never know what another person is going through.

I didn't know it had gotten this dire for him though.

It's probably better for him to step back from Y&R  and take some mental health time.

  5. Young and The Restless' star Kristoff St. John was hospitalized and placed under psychiatric evaluation after allegedly threatening to kill himself with a gun.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Kristoff's ex-wife, Mia, called cops Thursday evening and told them Kristoff had been sending her photos showing the soap star holding a gun to his head.

When cops arrived, they confiscated 2 guns and placed Kristoff under a 72-hour hold for mental evaluation. Sources close to Kristoff tell us the 2-year anniversary of his son Julian's suicide is fast approaching -- November 23 -- and that had him very, very upset.

Kristoff's ex set up the "El Saber es Poder" ("Knowledge is Power") Foundation to battle mental illness following Julian's death

Fred Grandy as a priest? Some of the LAMEST acting I’ve seen on soaps. It’s stunt casting at its worst, because he’s terrible.

Speaking of terrible.....Parker and Kristina. Please STAY GONE. There is NO chemistry between them, and the storyline has been crap from the beginning. I’m not against May/December relationships, but this one doesn’t work.

Lexi Ainsworth May be in her 20s, but she acts like an immature teenager. Ashley Jones acts less like a professor than any professor in America. Actually, I couldn’t stop watching their scenes because they were so damn AWFUL.

    GH is a suckfest.

Also, Y & R wasn't about a close knit community in its day.  There were characters that hardly ever interacted on the show, so DM's main element to his writing was the everyone knowing everyone else's business wouldn't work on Y & R.

However, some of his rules could work nowadays, but I do agree that the 6 month rule doesn't work in this day and age.  I think writing characters out that don't work, or have outlived their stay, is sometimes the way to go (i.e. Kevin has outstayed his welcome)

And soaps don't have a year to make new characters likable. Soaps are on 5 days a week most weeks of the year. Viewers decide pretty quickly if they like a new character or not. Writers don't need to shove them down people's throats but can't build at a snail's pace either. It should not take a year for the audience to like a new character on a show that's on daily.

The genius. His set of writing rules should be up in every daytime studio.

A good writer doesn't follow the rules of others. Not all his rules apply for 2017. Like don't fire anyone for 6 months. Nah in this current soap climate they need to can alot of people. And read the fan mail. The dedicated stans are the one voicing their opinions the loudest.

They need to just cut the crap and admit they: 1. Never had any true intentions for Parker/Kristina. Like all LGBTQ couples on daytime, they are used to generate some press coverage. 2. They don't plan on bringing them back b/c they've stupidly lost both actresses instead of locking them down into contracts.

GH is so abysmal to the point I want them to pull the plug.

They didn't lose either actress. Neither has a contract with any show. Major Crimes is on its last season and LA already finished filming her stint. I think the show wrapped filming completely. People said AJ is hoping for a GH return. The got a recurring role thing is just an excuse. Neither one is a great actress and both characters are horrible so its not like they needed to lock them down into contracts. They arent in high demand.

B&B - Brooke's Pose Pose (like Oliver/Brooke wouldn't know difference) quickly followed up by 'spiked' berries on deserted island

That was one of the worst moments on B&B. They really expected me to believe Oliver couldn't recognize the difference between Brooke's old worn ass and Hope.
