  1. I'm 29 today! I know I really don't show up here much anymore, but there are so many of you I care about so much, and I just wanted to you to know that today, and that I'm fine. :)

Happy birthday! Enjoy your final year in your 20's and look forward to a declining metabolism in your 30's! :)

      Happy bday!!!!!

      Happy Birthday!!

  2. RIP to The Cranberries' Dolores O'Riordan. What a great voice she had. :(

      I just loved them.

@YRfan23 A cause of death hasn't been revealed yet.

    4. YRBB

I gasped when I read the news earlier. What a beautiful voice. Heartbreaking.

  3. RIP, Rose Marie!

    1. DRW50

Sad to hear this. I kept forgetting she was still with us, but she was such a witty, fascinating person. I'll always love her work on DVDS.

    2. Khan

I'm sad as well.  Wasn't it just last week when she shared with the Hollywood Reporter that story about the producer who sexually harassed her?  IIRC, she not only stood up to that jerk, but she did it with everyone in the crew watching, too.  I think she said it cost her as far as screen time in the movie she was working on, but she was certainly brave to take a stand like she did, especially at that period in history.

  4. RIP, Jim Nabors! And for those who are wondering, we still have Betty Lynn (Thelma Lou), Maggie Peterson (Charlene Darling), Elinor Donahue, and of course Ron Howard left from TAGS. And Ken Berry and Buddy Foster from Mayberry, RFD, for that matter.

    1. DRW50

So sad to hear this. I'm glad he got to live his last years out and at peace.

I think this quote sums up his appeal (and says a lot about our corrosive modern culture): "In Mayberry, there was no illness. There was no war. There was no violence. There was no graffiti. We all had a good time, and we laughed a lot."

      Rip Jim Nabors.

My Dad loves watching the Andy Griffith Show and I was introduced to that show and Gomer Pyle because of him. I am glad that Mr. Nabors lived a long life and that many of the other actors from this show and spinoff are still alive.

@Shawn me too! Aunt Fern and her armadillo groom's cake is one of the BEST parts of that movie!

    3. DRW50

I'm always sorry so much of her AW and Somerset material is gone as Lahoma seems like such a groundbreaking character, and her popularity likely had a huge impact on AMC as well. I mostly remember her for her lovely performance in the Roseanne episode that Roseanne later pissed all over.

Lusty Lana was a hoot on TC.   I also loved her in SM and the show Filthy Rich. Her Bootsie was the bomb!

  5. RIP, Fats Domino!

    1. DramatistDreamer

He was the same age as Guillame, I believe. Double blow of two talented men.

    2. DRW50

Ashamed to admit I thought he'd passed quite a few years ago.

    3. MissLlanviewPA

I'm always surprised when you don't know when someone's still alive, Carl. You seem to have as much trivia memorized as I do. :)

  6. And Justin Timberlake gets the Super Bowl Halftime Show, because screw Janet Jackson, amirite?

She's on a big tour right now for her most recent album!

    3. DramatistDreamer

Supposedly, the NFL now claims that Janet Jackson is not banned.

Whatever, I won't be watching any of it.

    4. Nothin'ButAttitude

I'm not pleased either how Justin Timberlake was forgiven so easily, & Janet was tossed to the wolves. I won't be watching either.

    1. Taoboi

Longtime manager now confirming it...conflicting news reports be darned.

  7. RIP, Monty Hall.

    1. DRW50

I'd forgotten he was still alive. His wife passed a few months ago per the Intrawebs so that usually means the other half won't last long. I'd also forgotten Joanna Gleason was his daughter. My family used to love that show. RIP to him.

  8. Amber isn't finished yet. http://www.teenvogue.com/story/amber-tamblyn-open-letter-james-woods

  9. Amber Tamblyn rocks. (And yes, when she was 16, she was still on GH.)

  10. 40 years ago today without Elvis.

  11. RIP Glen Campbell!

    1. DRW50

Sad to hear this. Such a brilliant singer and performer. Sorry his last years were a struggle. At least he's at peace.

  12. RIP to long time DC news anchor Jim Vance. (Anyone else from the DC viewing area here?)

    1. Vee

I grew up in DC, I remember Jim Vance.

  13. RIP John Heard!

    1. DRW50

The dad in Home Alone. It's unfortunate my immediate memories of him were his problems with Melissa Leo.

    2. MissLlanviewPA

He also had a great role as Geraldine Page's son in A Trip to Bountiful.

    3. AdelaideCate007

Sad. The AFN and diplomatic satellite stations when I was a child played The Trip to Bountiful at least once a week so that's what I always think of him from (even though Home Alone is a the better movie, sorry not sorry).

  14. Welp, I found out how small JDP's role on GH was, and now I'm not sure I should even bother watching. I should have known I would never get nice things. Thanks for putting with me being so annoying over the years though, guys. It meant a lot to know how many of you thought of me when he was cast. That really did touch me a lot. :)

    1. DRW50

The good thing is it puts his name back out there and shows people he's still working. There's so much TV being made today he might get something.

  15. Happy 50th Birthday Pamela Anderson (shut up, I love her), and Happy 101st Birthday, Olivia de Havilland!

Princess Diana would've been 56 today. I heard her sons William and Harry are commemorating her with a statue.

    3. DaytimeFan

      I love Pamela too - a great looking 50.

    4. MissLlanviewPA

Sorry, @Bright Eyes! All my love to Canada. :) And yes, I'll admit that Pam and Dame Olivia are weird to mention together, but I love them both. And yes, Princess Diana, too. I can't believe her death was almost 20 years ago.

  16. An old clip of GH in 1984, featuring a guy I like a lot. ;)

  17. No more free boobies on Ocean City, MD beaches! This town in my fair state put a quick stop to that.

  18. So much for Taylor Swift's stance for "protecting music". When it comes to taking attention away from her rival, she'll throw her "principles" (lol sure Jan) right under the bus! And some people out there STILL believe her America's Sweetheart act. What an overgrown toddler. YOU'RE NEARLY 30 GODDAMN YEARS OLD, BITCH. http://jezebel.com/taylor-swifts-music-slithers-back-onto-streaming-servic-1795955742

I meant that Swish Swish song. Chained to the Rhythm is a decent song (aside from some lyrical laziness and the rap break). Bon Appetit was a decent song too (if you take out Migos). Swish Swish...eh.

    3. BetterForgotten

This "feud" seems very manufactured to me...

    4. Vee

I'm sure Swift is no saint but when the tone of the online discussion becomes (h/t the exhausted folks at Vulture) "Katy doesn’t really want to talk about it, because women should be for women first, but she totally will if you make her" - I think it pretty much sums up the pop-eyed flopsweat bandwagoning that has defined her entire post-church career and from that to Left Shark it's all of a piece about why I'd rather listen to literally anybody else drag Taylor Swift

  19. God Bless my home state. I fully expect a new sign that reads, "Welcome to Maryland: We Greet You Tits First!" http://jezebel.com/you-are-now-free-to-bare-your-boobs-on-this-maryland-be-1795939184

  20. My favorite daytime actor is returning to soaps, and it might be the best news of 2017 to me at this point, Eh, I'll take it! :D

    1. marceline

You were the first person I thought of when I saw the news. I hold a thought that they'll find a way to bring on Fiona just for you.

    2. KMan101

Thought of you as well. I'm very happy he's going to be back on daytime.

  21. I have been so impressed with Ariana Grande these last few weeks, and yesterday's One Love Manchester concert only cemented that more. Whatever she has done in the past (the donut stuff, etc.), she has made up for by about a billion percent. I know she will be hurting for a long time after this, but the way she has kept the focus on the concertgoers who were there that night (dead or alive now), and brought this concert together in such a short period of time...just amazing. Incredible. I commend her so much.

And it's clear she and Miley love each other so much, too.

      I Am A Swede

I agree. I didn't know all that much about her before all of this, but the way she has risen to the occasion is admirable. Putting together a massive concert like this in such a short time is phenomenal.

    3. marceline

Agreed. She's handled this with a level of grace and kindness that has been really amazing to see.

    4. dragonflies

This I feel is the real Ariana that's always been there, not the persona she's adopted for awhile now. I've been very impressed with her through all of this.

  22. RIP to the Midnight Rider, Southern Rock pioneer Gregg Allman!

    1. DRW50

I couldn't help thinking of the tragedy of that movie when I heard this. I know he was known for far more.

Allman Brothers concert in the late 90s was one of my favorite concerts ever!   :-(
