  1. KA seemed nice but how can anyone be surprised by this? The entire reason Hunter refused to return anymore, which she made clear on Twitter before she deleted her account, was because she said she was tired of what Taylor had been reduced to (a foil for Bridge with nothing outside of that) tired of the triangle and had zero faith a return would ever be different.

Brad recast the part, and changed nothing - he still made Taylor a speed bump basically on the road to boring Bridge and then had zero use for Taylor after that - the same lazy trash writing he has been giving the character for yearsssss.

So I've made it to this Eric/Taylor thing, and I'm curious, were people fans of this back then? Because I'm not lol

To me, Eric has just come off as creepy and obsessive the whole time. A vibe that I didn't really get when Eric/Brooke were becoming a thing.

It's probably the most vocal Hunter was about flat out hating a story. I mean, it goes nowhere and is abruptly dropped because she tells them she's leaving for Melrose in late 95'. They totally drop that story and promptly bring in Lauren to be a foil for Bridge (which IMO made them look terrible - Ridge making out with Taylor would be one thing as they were married and had history, but him being as tempted as he was by Lauren while he was with Brooke was a mess). But even all of that became a total waste of TEB's talent

B&B mentions in SOD Best and Worst during the Bill Bell years

    1987: Best Daytime Casting

1988: Worst Love Triangle, Best Enemies

1989: Best New Character, Best Imposters

1990: Most Daring Storyline, Best Scene-Stealer, Worst Death Scene, Worst Widower

    1991: No mentions

1992: Worst Heroine, Nastiest Character, Best Crossover, Best Wedding, Most Shocking Twist

1993: Best Triangle, Hottest Love Scenes

The write ups for 1987-1990 are posted here Classic Soap Opera Digest News on Tumblr - #Best & Worst

I couldn't find the 1992 and 1993 write ups anywhere but I got the lists from 12-22-92 Soap Opera Digest THE BEST & WORST of 1992 | Soap Opera World and 1-4-94 Soap Opera Digest The BEST & WORST of 1993 | Soap Opera World

I know in 1992 best crossover was Lauren/Sheila and Best Wedding was Taylor/Ridge

1993 I'm not sure what Best Triangle was (I don't think it was Brooke/Ridge/Taylor) but Hottest Love Scenes was Taylor/Ridge (that write up was posted on Twitter)

  4. I have a question, does anyone know WHY Jake slept with Lucy and the circumstances around Tom Hardy sleeping with Lucy?

Those are two instances I have never been able to find clips of or wrap my head around. Why did Tom sleep with Lucy while he was married to Simone? And how did Jake end up sleeping with Lucy? There didn't seem to be any sexual tension between them leading up to it or anything. I know it happened when they were on the run and hiding out in that house, but I've never understood how it actually happened.

I stopped watching in 1999 after the Jabot/Newman crossover ended. Bradley did not give us a scene with two of his father's greatest creations Victor and Stephanie. A Victor/Stephanie scene would have been so epic and EB and SF would have given us a master class in acting. SF herself even said in an interview it was a missed opportunity that Stephanie and Victor did not interact during that storyline.

Why waste time with EB and Flannery when we can have countless scenes of Brooke disrobing for Jack, standing around in lingerie and kissing Victor? That whole crossover was dumb and a complete waste.

I also hate that every single crossover seems to happen solely to help/prop B&B. It never does a thing for Y&R (going all the way back to 1992 and having Scott actually die on B&B instead of the show where he originated just to help their ratings).

I'm near 1999 and let me say...

Everything past Belief has been crap compared to the first 7 years.

I tried to make myself like it and even had moments when I wanted to believe it was back... but now watched...1994 to 1998...

The Titanic has sank and the band is Still playing.

I am still hopeful for 1999 to 2002...

    Because hope dies last.

But watching these first 7 seasons in dept made me just not like anything since. And I once watched all these seasons as a teenager and loved them.

    My main issues.

    1. Disgustingly bad dialogue and repeated scenes that make you want to vomit.

There are moments when there are 5 episodes in which the same scene is repeated. We also have flashbacks all the time.

    2. Taylor has been destroyed as a character. The smart interesting woman of 1990 to 1993 is gone and there is this pathetic crying all the time victim.

    3. The show looks and feels cheaper. The clothes look worse and sometimes I forget I an watching a show about fashion people.

The first 7 years were so glamorous and beautiful.

    4. Making Brooke the slut from the valley made the whole war between her and Stephanie a cartoon. The beginning... the first 7 years it was very high level quality conflict. Stephanie was not so cartoonish.

Overall I am thinking of re watching the first 1700 episodes and just never going pass that. But I will continue with 1999.

I have never understood anyone who liked 94-96/97 it was AWFUL. Boring. 1994 really does highlight what a bad writer Brad Bell was. It was his first full year writing the show and just 5 or 6 months in we were having to watch Stephanie reduced to nothing but protecting boring Jessica's virtue, all of the Spectras basically backburned and the only person we ever saw at Spectra was Dylan...oh and Ivana in yet another story nobody cared about. Macy and Thorne's singing contract story was atrocious. Princess Leila went on entirely too long! Hunter returned in fall 1994 and Taylor did not reveal herself until almost summer of 1995 and then by like November it was announced Hunter had been cast on Melrose. So they wasted allllllll that time in Morocco instead of immediately getting the character back to LA. Ridge and Brooke were boring as all hell, doin nothing but having sex with zero conflict or even real conversations. 95 was also a big bunch of nothing (except entirely too much focus on the kids like it had suddenly morphed into a Nickelodeon show).

Eva I believe just wanted to keep the headhunter job and was afraid what clients would feel if they knew she was acting too. HOWEVER she was at Y&R and I could why some like EB could see that as degrading the show I feel he went overboard attacking her acting Although she seemed embarrassed that they showed a Y&R Clip

Ok if this is all she said then EB is being ridiculous and he needs to delete those tweets. She was clearly talking about being a headhunter and not wanting clients to know she was acting too because most people think actors in general aren't smart.

  8. So..I had no idea Shari Shattuck had a website and blog where she talks about Ronn Moss sometimes? Yikesssssss. Someone linked me to it. https://sharishattuck.com/

    Some excerpts:

Reminds me of when my ex sued to stop paying child support for the last year after he quit his job. This while I’m the only one of use paying for college. I still have one daughter with two years left at University and he still hasn’t contributed a dime. His wife followed me into the bathroom at the courthouse to mock me in baby talk, what was there to do but laugh? The way some people behave is so crazy, no one would believe it if I put it in a movie. She followed that kindergarten act up with shouting out things from the gallery during the hearing until the bailiff had to order her to be quiet. I kept my tongue then too, but it was hard not to laugh. I mean, it was hysterical!!

    Then this one:

My first two husbands didn’t bother to get me a ring. The first marriage was over in a year or so, and I was glad to be clear of it. An expensive ring wasn’t that important to me as a ‘thing’ to own, but as time went on with husband number two and I gave up career opportunities to grow, deliver, and raise two beautiful girls, I realized that it would have been nice for their father to have taken the trouble to maybe make me feel like he noticed the imbalance of that equation with an effort at making me feel appreciated. It didn’t have to be anything expensive, even though he could easily have afforded it, just having him put the thought into trying to make me happy would have been nice.

This is most likely a very unpopular opinion, but I think back then if HT wasn't willing to commit long term, they should have just let her go and recast permanently

The longest commitment she gave the show was 97 - 2002. There were still rumors in there she would leave but she never did (I think partly because she had the Spelling court case during that early period). Apparently Bill Bell wouldn't even entertain the thought of recasting. Someone from Twitter posted an old interview with HT where she said a part of what the issue in 2002 was that she had always dealt with Bill and not Brad when it came to having outs or being able to explore other things but by that time Bill already had early onset Alzheimers so she dealt solely with Brad.

It's interesting that even Brad ended up calling and asking her Back

s why my memory of Grant's introduction was off. I agree that Hunter Tylo being so in and out from 1994-1998 derailed alot of storylines

Looking back you didn't miss much. There was wayyyyy wayyyyy too much focus on Rick and Bridget, good God, those kids ate the show and dominated nearly every story. Also trying to put Brooke in a domestic role and turn Lauren into Brooke did not work at all.

As far as Tylo was concerned, it was a bit crazy that Bill Bell allowed that. I was just looking because I was trying to establish a timeline for some B&B stuff and this is an article from The Washington Post:

She was playing psychiatrist Taylor Forrester on a daytime soap opera, "The Bold and the Beautiful," when, in late 1995, she joined the "Melrose Place" cast in the role of Taylor McBride. The popular evening soap, serialized on the Fox network, tracks the intricately interwoven lives of the uniformly sexy inhabitants of an apartment building in Southern California. A melange of skin, deceit and improbabilities, the program is the brainchild of Aaron Spelling, a producer legendary for his frothy, racy touch.

According to attorney Goldberg, Tylo told the "Melrose Place" producers that she was pregnant in March 1996, when she was only a month along. It was her third child; the baby, Isabella, was born in November 1996.

The producers decided to fire her "within five or 10 minutes," Goldberg said, and informed her by letter on April 10, 1996.

So they knew in late 1995 that Hunter was going to leave B&B a few months later in 1996 (seemingly for good). She had barely been back a year from her last exit!

  11. I was always a Taylor fan but watching the show back now it is kind of unfathomable to me how often they let Hunter come and go. I mean, I feel like stories from 94-96 are nearly completely derailed because of her being so in and out.

-94 she leaves to film a miniseries

-Late 94 she returns (but apparently stayed away longer than anticipated- though they always knew she was coming back)

-Early 96 she leaves for Melrose Place

-Late 96 she returns (only for a few weeks though because she immediately goes on maternity leave)

Prior to the 94 exit it seemed like there was an obvious set up for Taylor to get pregnant and be unsure of who the father was (she and Ridge had been trying to get pregnant non-stop and she slept with James at Big Bear). They were clearly tting up a very messy quadrangle.

When Hunter returned in 94, it felt like the show was not sure how long she would stick around (with good reason) so they stuck her in a nothing romance with Eric that never went anywhere and they never even had sex.

Then it seems like they get somewhat confident Tylo is going to stick around so they cast Charles Grant as an ex-lover who wants another chance only for Tylo to actually leave shortly after and they pivot to that very lazy Grant/Brooke/Ridge whatever.

Then Tylo returns in 96 and in one of the most nonsensical moments ever on the show accepts Ridge's marriage proposal even though they barely had 5 conversations since her return. Then she disappears to go on maternity leave.

I don't like mid 94-96 of the show very much and I think its partly because you can see them stopping and starting stories and doing all these strange pivots because of this.

Also I will always wonder what the original point was of the letter Taylor wrote confessing to Ridge. Was that Bill's idea that Bradley didn't like so he just dropped it? Stephanie took it and never gave it to Ridge but it makes no sense to me that they didn't use it as part of Taylor's 94 return when they KNEW that Hunter was coming back. It was just a very bizarre and dumb choice? I heard they brought it up again in 2005 and I couldn't care less about that or anything after 2002, but I really don't get having a story where she sleeps with James, writes a letter confessing, Stephanie intercepts and then NEVER addressing it again in 94, 95 or 96 when she returned.

There were hints that Grant shared a past with Taylor but then it was changed that they were college classmates and that was it. Somehow I don't think Bradley original plan was for Grant to make Brooke question her decade-long obsession with Ridge.

It wasn't just hinted at. Grant's very first scenes on the show, Eric is taking him around the Forrester offices and he meets Taylor and there is a definite spark there but they act like they don't know each other. Later on he goes to Taylor's office, they start kissing and she says "what took you so long." Then it is revealed they went to college together and were an item then. They definitely position Taylor as "the one that got away" for Grant and while he is sort of having no strings attached sex with Sheila he is chasing Taylor. It was pretty clear they were the plan but Tylo left for Melrose Place and it all got completely derailed. They pulled her back into Ridge's orbit to get some Tridge scenes in before she exits the show.

Agree.  IMO, that's why Victor and Nikki's relationship has always been an on-again, off-again kind of thing.  For Victor, the initial challenge was remaking Nikki, a stripper from the wrong side of the tracks, into a "lady."  Once that was accomplished, he got bored.

I don't actually agree with this. I don't believe Victor ever got bored with Nikki, I actually think the opposite is true and I wish they would address the elephant which is that Nikki is significantly younger than Victor and was constantly and consistently turning to younger men for comfort and sex. She would get tired of sitting in that ranch, fluffing flowers, see some young stud and get all hot for them - even her gynecologist (Josh) or the boring writer living in the horse stable (Cole).

Besides the affair with Ashley in 1985, the person who has done the vast majority of the cheating in the Nikki and Victor relationship was Nikki.

Just think about it, Nikki had an affair with Brad in 1999 because Victor was spending all his time at Newman and she wanted attention. She almost slept with Bobby in 2005 and then she DID cheat on Victor with David Chow...then again with Deacon all the way up to her affair with Arturo and in almost all those situations Nikki stepped out or had the affair before Victor slept with anyone else. Even when Victor did cheat, we never saw it. Him and that prison guard Alicia he supposedly had sex with was never shown, we never saw him in bed with Genevieve but saw Nikki and Jack in bed all the time even when Jack was in a wheelchair, we saw Nikki and Deacon in bed constantly, even saw her making out with Arturo on several occasions but never saw Victor even kiss that Helen lady.

I always consider Nikki the original Real Housewife - someone who had very little ambition or desire to work and loved the life that her much older husband provided but couldn't help herself when some young stud showed her an ounce of attention (especially when her husband worked all the time). EB would never allow it but there was a time when I wished they would just say Victor was her life partner and she loved him but he did not satisfy her sexually anymore because it seemed clear that is what the show was implying (especially during that Arturo and "open marriage" story).

  14. Does anyone know the circumstances surrounding Lucy sleeping with Tom Hardy? Simone went out of town, but had Tom and Lucy been flirting before that? What led up to it? I have never seen the scenes but saw the fight where Simone called her a slut and they got into a catfight.

  15. When and how did the original Jack and Nikki affair happen? I didn't realize it had gotten so far that they were living together. She found out that Ashley and Victor were having an affair and then started sleeping with Jack?

Also I am surprised at how much I like the chemistry between Terry Lester and MTS in these 1986 episodes

  16. So are Carly and Drew going to get together and Nina and Sonny finally sleep together? Is that the new quad coming our way this Spring?

Also ugh, I think this show is going to try to tell us that Esme is Ryan and Felicia's daughter somehow and that's why KW is back on contract.

Speaking of children and vets, I do not understand why Sofia Mattsson was not just made Serena or Christina Baldwin. Everytime I see a pic or scene with her and Lynn Herring it just reminds me of how dumb it is that she isn't playing Lucy's kid.

I haven't seen it in ages but did pass by a couple of weeks ago and saw the "new" Taylor I guess and thought - wow, what an improvement.  I know people probably wouldn't like that, but this girl seemed like Taylor to me - looked the part, and looked like Steffy, and was better in the role for the 3 or 4 minutes I left it on.  From what I remember Hunter Tylo said some off-handed things - maybe rightly so but kind of seemed like slammed the door on the show, wasn't happy with her returns.  Maybe rightly so, but it smacked of a backhand that you probably shouldn't give unless you don't plan on working again.  I don't see any show standing in line to get her, so hopefully she's set financially and wants to be a Housewife of whatever (is she on that or am I thinking of Lisa Rinna???) - anyway, those shows are interchangeable and honestly so are those 2 actresses.

Hunter made it abundantly clear on social media (before she quit) that she had no desire to return to the show and didn't care at all if they recast. It was pretty evident she was done and told them they could do whatever they wanted with Taylor.
