  1. Jean Passanante looks back at her career

Thanks for posting this. One of SOD's better interviews lately. I too found it odd that Jean didnt mention Y&R as it was some of the best work of her career especially Phyllis's and Adam's returns. it was the best y&r had been since early MAB. Loved so many of her ATWT stories like the umbrellas and the Lily/Holden/Carly triangle, Molly's return, the development of Luke and Noah, the Z Twins, Ameera, and Barbara and Lucinda's resurgences. Jean also reinvigorated the Brad character. Wish she could have done more with Casey/Emily coupling There's no way i can adequately thank Jean for all of her hard work and many hours of entertainment that she has given me and so many others. Thank u
  2. Many of the late 1990s Y&R clips were some of my firsts. Loved the Veronica/Sarah clips that someone posted. My favorite was when "Sarah" broke Nikki's priceless crystal. MTS was so campy and awesome with Nikki's beyotchiness.

Is it just me or has the music gotten more awful? Between crappy elevator music, JFP's continued awful ballads, and horrific indie bands... Just UGH. It amplifies horrific writing. I'm not even sure that Sally and Kay wrote this. It's worse than Sally's worst. I *might* be able to handle it if it was an actual Y&R score.

I am excited about where Steve's story is headed. Let's also not forget that Shelly gave Steve magnificent material at Y&R as Dylan. She made him a rootable character. Im sure this is in yhe back of Steves mind.
  5. Obviously GH Luke and Laura's wedding was the #1 most watched episode of an American soap ever at around 30 million viewers. What were the others? I know ATWT Steve and Betsy's wedding was watched by around 20 million viewers.

I loved 2000 and the headwriting stint of Karen Harris/Jonathan Estrin/Barbara Bloom. It felt like PC had finally hits its stride. I was excited to watch almost everyday. When the telenovela style/ B&E started that December there was a noticeable decline in quality on the first day

ATWT did not need John Dixon after around 1997. the character had run its course. Bryggman should have been put on recurring during that period before Marie Masters.

Ed Scott also surrounded himself with the creme de la creme of producers... Kathy Foster, Nancy Wiard, David Shaughnessy.

Abby has been worthless since Melissa Ordway started playing her. Lure back Emme Rylan. Some ppl thought she was too old but at least she didnt utterly lack any semblance of charisma.
  10. Most Ridiculous Soap Moments

Love this clip. It was ridiculous at the time, but it was a pinnacle moment for Hogan and Jean's Barbara. They revitalized the character. It led to some very rich and powerful storytelling later. CZ was FAB.
  11. Most Ridiculous Soap Moments

Amazon Sheila was the worst thing I have ever seen on a soap. That debacle did more damage to the Sheila character than either Pheila or Sarah Smythe. GL: MaryAnne Carruthers. As much as I loved the late Carrie Nye and her screen presence, this story and her Carrie character popping up randomly in that ugly house of Michelle's (?) caused this show to jump the shark too. Funny how both of these incidents coincide with the beginning of Barbara Bloom's destructive run at CBS Daytime ca. 2003.

Bring back Yves and the Genoa City Hotel! JFP really did a number on the sets. The GCAC looked so much better before JFP raided a Home Goods sale for new furniture. The upholstery and curtains in that set are hideous. The caramel colored seats and lime green curtains are eye sores. The statues in the middle of the set used to be trophies and figurines you would find at an ATHLETIC club... now its cheap pottery that TJ Maxx cant even get off of the shelves. UGH.
  13. September GH Thread

As a whole, the interview was pretty darn insightful. Jean went through her entire career in soaps, including her mentorship under Claire Labine and Agnes Nixon. one of sosp digest's best pieces in a while. Curiously, however, Jean wasnt asked very much about her yr time, which was some of her best work, particularly the comebacks of adam and phyllis. All in all though. it reads like Jean considers GH to be the pinnacle of ber career--the actors have ben VERY supportive of her personally. she getsthem on a fundamental level
  14. Has Eileen Davidson reminded anybody of...

Now that you mention it, YES! Maybe Jessica Lange should also play Eileen! What a hoot that would be!

Is there any 1997-98 Y&R online, specifically the Veronica/Sarah SL? that umbrella story is my fave from that era. Any clips would just make my day.
