Really lovely remembrance from Kimberly McCullough

Cannot imagine how the GH family is feeling right now, especially in a year where they’ve had so many losses.
TC was always a solid, compelling actor and the definitive Nikolas, and I wanted him to succeed as he went through his struggles with addiction. RIP.

His passing is such a saddening shock. Through his soap career (AMC, Y&R and GH) his talent was undeniable. Fiery, emotional, witty, lovable; Billy Miller exuded all those traits and then some in his work. May his memory remain a blessing to the people who knew him and the fans who loved him and his work.

RJ on OLTL was originally supposed to go back to prison after his initial arc, but HW Michael Malone become such a fan of Timothy Stickney’s performance it was quickly decided to keep him around

I would say it’s a tie between Roger Thorpe and Luke & Laura. All these returns reinvigorated their respective soaps and brought a plethora of storylines and performances that matched, if not exceeded, each of their initial runs

I don't know if it was successful, but yes, the nightime soaps did enter the syndication market. I've heard that in some cases, episodes were split into two, which just sounds horrible.
There was a weird trend in the '80s of splitting hour shows into half-hours once they hit syndication to fit better onto network affiliates. Dynasty was the only soap to do the half-hour split, but Knight Rider, Trapper John MD and Fame also did this.

The fact that TPTB wouldn't even use DD for a brief visit during an anniversary run speaks VOLUMES. They can't stand his ass, I'm sure of it

Such heartbreaking news; the first thing I remember seeing in was as Amelia on GH. It was sometimes a nothing role, but Wersching added a lot more depth than what was in the scripts. What has struck me so much in the reactions and outpouring was how beloved she was on every set she stepped in. Prayers to her family.

Chrishell Stause and Colin Egglesfield (both ex-AMC) are reuniting for a coming Lifetime movie, A Rose for Her Grave.

Maybe the only thing that would shock me on B&B is Bradley Bell stepping aside; no casting twist short of possibly Bobbie Eakes returning would be shock me

Is there another soap with the relative cast balance Days does?

Been rewatching the Port Charles telenovela era, and they really knew how to make a lot out of a little

Keith Hamilton Cobb (AMC) popping up as a judge on this week’s Law & Order

OLTL: RJ and literally everyone; Hank, Nora, Bo, Tea, Todd, Antonio, Evangeline, I can't think of anyone Timothy Stickney didn't click with

CBS moved Knots to 9pm at the beginning of the season opposite Cheers; even though they ended up moving it back to 10pm before the end of the year, that led to a sizable ratings drop and it didn't really recover that season.

Days’ ambition is greater than what its current scale can support, but it’s still mostly watchable and often fun: C+
GH is really hit or miss but, like Days, when it works it WORKS: C+
B&B and Y&R are borderline unwatchable shells of their past heights: D-

The return of Roger Thorpe on GL. Revitalized the show at a time when it had become slightly stale and gave us years of amazing work from Michael Zaslow and Maureen Garrett, not to mention creating new ties among the existing ensemble.

This recasting feels very "six degrees of Lisa Rinna", but I've always liked Krista Allen so it'll be interesting to see if she's a good fit as Taylor

Jason Cook (DAYS, GH) popped up briefly as Matt Lauer (!) on tonight's Impeachment: American Crime Story. Kim Matula (B&B) and Teddy Sears (OLTL) have also made appearances prior to this

Erica Kane in the '90s was almost exclusively frontburner and for the most part was entertaining the whole way through

Does Days have the most balanced canvas of any soap lately? Just comparing to the episode rankings of other shows lately...
