  1. There's a certain soap uploader on YT, and I very often worry about his sanity/well-being...

Maybe I'm mistaken but I think I know who that might be. I don't subscribe but I have seen a few videos and yeah, it's a fine line between zany and bizarre. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else?

I have to see this tbh. Can someone DM me the username?

  2. It's not a big deal to anyone but me, but I watched AMC for the very first time 20 years ago today lol It was the first time I ever watched a soap for myself and not just because someone else was watching it, and it began my long long loooooong love affair with our beloved genre.

@cct Jesse McCartney's JR caught my eye (I was 11, and he was a hot older guy - at age 14) in a scene with David at Pine Valley High, and years later, I finally looked it up to see what episode it was and found it to be 6/07/2001. I was so young, my thoughts barely matter, but I was into Laura/Leo/Greenlee the most.

Cool! Happy anniversary, @All My Shadows!!!

  3. I'm still so in love with the 80s TPIR channel on Pluto. I think I feel about TPIR the same way others feel about Disney World.

    1. beebs

I think you and I are much the same that way, haha. Though I won't watch new episodes, it feels completely alien and the contestants at a certain point became far too obnoxious for my taste. The Pluto channel has been a godsend.

    2. DRW50

Does that make Drew Carey Eurodisney?

  4. OMG thanks to whomever decided to put this bar back on the right side of the screen!

    1. ChitHappens

I feel like I'm home again!

  5. Every time a "Bad Lip Reading" video comes out, I just go back and watch Got2BReal all over again.

    1. beebs

      Yeeep. Second this.

  6. If being in love with early 70s era Dick Cavett is wrong, then I don't want to be right.

  7. A student at my school did a science fair project called "The Mold and the Beautiful," and I need to meet this kid.

  8. The DECADES network is running a weekend marathon of the short-lived 60s police drama NYPD, and it’s chock full of soapy guest stars. Mary Fickett is currently killing it as a runaway hippie girl’s mom.

That bites!  I loves me some Decades and look forward to the weekend marathons, especially in the Winter months.

I haven't had cable in a year so I bought an antenna from Amazon for $27.00 and it pulls in all the old channels (MeTV, Antenna, Cozi, Decades, etc).  Try it and put the antenna probably near a window.  You'd be shocked the tv shows you can get for free.  I watched the entire season of Titan Games on NBC with excellent reception.

    3. SFK

Yes Chit, I have one of those antennas in my bedroom, I love it! But unfortunately I no longer get Decades nor Retro in my area. If they ever take Antenna and Me, I'm goin' AWF!

  9. What if there was a "true soap opera" podcast? Where people submit the complex and crazy family drama they've experienced and it gets read on-air by two charismatic and engaging hosts who analyze the motivations of all of the people involved?

    1. All My Shadows

      All My Shadows

Like, basically the trashy 90s talk shows, minus the stigma (and guests), plus the trendiness of the podcast format.

    2. Taoboi

I would be down for that. My life alone has had moments so I can just imagine other people. lol.

  10. People really say "Where is the outrage?!" then put their phones down and head out to Texas Roadhouse for a night out.

  11. The Donna Reed Show is so underrated.

    1. DRW50

Don't care as much for it as the kids get older, but the first years are golden.

    2. Wendy

Donna Reed will always be Mary Bailey to me.

  13. Am I the only one tired of the fake Golden Girls obsession? Where was this when I was getting picked on in middle school for watching it?

@SFK Yes! God, yes. I'm so tired of getting tagged in the same tired memes. I hate to be a gatekeeper, but these people aren't really fans. They just like the idea of being fans.

    3. AbcNbc247

I'll always love GG but even I'm starting to get a little tired of it. They play it on TV too much, that and Everybody Loves Raymond

    4. allmc2008

You are not alone. In fact, I was obsessed with it in middle school, over 15 years ago, but now I find it flat. I always gravitated towards what people WERE NOT watching (#Soaps). Now that we have all this bougie as$ merchandise the show isn't special. I think the show started falling flat for me when the board games came out a few years ago.

It is perfect TV though. Even if the last seasons can be rough, it still feels the same. You can almost watch any episode and not realize where in the series it took place. You can't do that with most sitcoms. Even "Mary Tyler Moore Show". That show has too many eras. Also unlike MTM, Golden Girls didn't have stronger supporting characters. Ever notice that some sitcoms, like "The Nanny", we had charcters who were more entertaining than the core (Yetta and Sylvia)? GG didn't have that problem.

  14. Bruh, sometimes soap fans are ungrateful as fck and then wonder why nobody does anything for us.

    1. vetsoapfan

Oh dear, what have they done now?🤔

    2. KMan101

      What have I missed? lol

  15. I decided to spend some time re-reading the highly political arguments I'd have with people on a message board that I frequented for far too long in my teens, and thank GOD, I broke free from that sht.

  16. Nobody told me about Adrian Zmed's hot sons.

  17. Anyone else really a big fan of Hee Haw? Just me? Okay.

    1. SFK

Lol, as a child, yes, but it's been a minute. I came across an ep while flipping channels a while ago and forgot to flip back. I was into campy southern-hewn humor when I was little, Hee Haw, Mama's Family, The Barbara Mandrell Show...

    2. KMan101

Not really, even though I love the southern humor shows and rural shows like Green Acres, etc. I probably never gave it much of a chance. Don't dislike it, just never 'got into it'

  18. Netflix's Too Hot to Handle is the dumbest thing I have probably ever watched in my life.

  19. Good Times doesn’t get enough credit. People who don’t understand it are just wannabe bourgie as hell

    1. SFK

Who are these monsters, I want nothing to do with them...

@SFK I came across a documentary on Pluto a few weeks ago looking back at the history of blacks on TV. I'm guessing it was produced in the mid/late 90s. Good Times was scoffed at by one of those types of guys because "Why did they have to live in the projects?" and "Why did they have to speak in Ebonics?" Like damn, poor black people don't deserve to see themselves on TV?

    3. ReddFoxx

People like that are ignorant of reality. At the time Good Times came on the air living in the projects was common for a great deal of the black population so for anyone to question the show's premise is pretty stupid.

  20. Robert Urich and Bart Braverman playing against each other on Password Plus, and my body can’t take it - but it is ready.

  21. Am I the only one who didn't know that Miller and Boyett were a couple?

      I had no idea either.

    3. dragonflies

      No idea at all

    4. DaytimeFan

No idea either. Suzanne Somers said working for Miller-Boyett on Step by Step was a wonderful experience and that they were pros, honest and that the Miller-Boyett template was "how it should work."

  22. Y'all, it's pathetic that the only reason a show as legendary and long-running as Y&R is showing a few measly reruns is because a worldwide pandemic is temporarily driving it out of production.

    1. DRW50

And they probably won't even be that old.

  23. This whole quarantine thing is teaching me so much about older people in my community. They really don’t seem to have a sense of self at all, which is why they absolutely cannot bear to just stay home by themselves. They don’t know who they are anymore.

  24. Non-soap fans stay getting their bussies wet over shows that have all the same appeal that soaps used to have but act like it’s new.

    1. KMan101

YES! SOOOOO true. It's annoying as hell. lol
