  1. I can't believe they still have live performers during the memorial montage on awards programs.

@Nothin'ButAttitude Yes, I've just checked and David Canary was included in the primetime Emmy memoriam. The clip they chose was a still from Bonanza.

Well Agnes did write the primetime mini-series Manions of America, starring Pierce Brosnan.

  2. According to Susan Lucci's Instagram account, AMC's Mark La Mura has passed away. RIP.

Last night I was on here thinking about how much my life has changed since I joined.  Like, what was I doing, or really, NOT doing that I had so much time to post!?  Of course, if AMC and OLTL were still on, I'm sure I'd still find a way...

Same! I just have so much less to say now that they're gone.

  5. Is the Cocktail Lounge still a thing? Because have I got a juicy little tale for y'all...

  7. So obsessed with the GLOW raps from the original series.

  8. I'm casually rewatching Victorious from the beginning, and I can honestly say it's one of my favorite sitcoms ever.

  9. Anyone watches or is watching GLOW on Netflix? Why am I just now discovering the original series?

    1. Bright Eyes

      Bright Eyes

I watched the first episode before Twin Peaks tonight. I loved Betty Gilpin on Nurse Jackie, so I,m happy to watch her in something again. I never watched the original GLOW, but I do remember watching WOW (Women of Wrestling) when I was a kid. I loved it.

    2. DRW50

      DRW50

Is the original on Netflix? I have no interest in a fictional version but I loved the old one, especially Spanish Red. She was my first gay icon...

  10. Catching up on the new Pyramid, and I'm glad to say it's still enjoyable. Leslie Jones sucks, but LL Cool J is a damn good player!

All Leslie did was scream. She is so annoying.

She got better as the show went on, but yes, so much yelling. Joey Fatone was pretty good, too.

  11. The opening teaser from "That Girl" is one of TV's most underrated running gags.

  12. Whoever had the idea to slow the My Two Dads theme song down for the second season is a smart person.

  13. Great, another pointless ass thread.

  14. Why are there so many videos of dogs barking to the GH theme on YouTube?

    1. ReddFoxx

The frequency of the sax does seem like something that would make dogs react.

AMS, you'll like this: My mom was reading a magazine recently, which had a story from a woman about a mockingbird/hummingbird (I can't remember which) who repeated the AMC theme back through the window after the song finished playing on TV. :D

Sorry about the weird typing there. Formatting issues.

  16. I (very bitterly) get annoyed by cutesy wedding hashtags on social media, but if I ever married (I know...), I'm going with #thewedding as a homage to Dynasty.

      Seriously.

  18. The updated B&B opening/theme put me on watching all of the old ones this afternoon, and I forget just how chaotic that music had to have sounded when it debuted in 1987.

  19. Watching a few episodes of Room 222, and my god, this show hits the nail on the head in regards to teachers' lives aaaaand it deserves a lot more recognition for putting black people on TV.

@Eric83 the first season is on YouTube through different channels. I haven't seen much of any of the later seasons show up.

@Dave_01 I wish I had Aspire! It always looks like I SHOULD be able to see it, but then it doesn't actually load up to air. This should easily be on MeTV. A nice little block of quiet 70s dramas on weekend afternoons would be stellar. Room 222, Family, maybe something short-lived like James at 15 to go along with them.

@Khan I noticed that washed-out look in the episodes I watched. I mean, obviously still extremely watchable and not a real issue at ALL but also very noticeable especially when compared to other shows from the same era that have been preserved better.

    3. Khan

      Khan

Perhaps, if the show had been more successful BITD for ABC and/or Fox, they might've taken more care with the film.  But, as I understand it, "Room 222" was always under threat of cancellation; and in fact, ABC HAD cancelled it, or wanted to, after the first season, but changed their minds when it won the Emmy.

@Dave_01: I've always wondered whether the lesser quality of the post-Gene Reynolds years was due to the show's struggling ratings (maybe the network felt the weightier, more topical episodes were turning people off?), the fact that it was on a night (Friday) surrounded by shows like "The Brady Bunch" and "Love, American Style," or a combination thereof.

I've also wondered whether you could reboot or revive "Room 222", since that seems to be "the thing" now.  I might keep Walt Whitman High, Mr. Dixon, Mr. Kaufman, Ms. McIntyre and Ms. Johnson as they were, but IDK about focusing on a group of regular students you could plug into any story.  I mean, it gets ridic when it's the fifth season and Bernie, Jason, Helen and others are STILL attending WWHS.

@Khan As a teacher, I would LOVE a reboot. I was discussing the episodes I watched, particularly "Alice in Blunderland," with some of my colleagues who would normally never watch a TV show from that era, and even they were amazed at how timeless the story was. I think if the focus remained squarely on the adults, they could rotate different kids in all the time and have them graduate on a normal time table.

  20. Watching this Three's Company marathon on and off all weekend and STILL finding it hard not to write a quiet, smooth, sexy soapy version of the early seasons in my head.

    4. All My Shadows

      All My Shadows

Yes, yes, the irony of a person complaining about someone complaining. The two major differences here, though, are that I'm actually complaining to the entity about which I am complaining (message board posts are NOT about to get someone fired...), and, most important, a week from today I will have moved completely on and won't still be here complaining about it. Food fa ya thoughts.

  22. Y'all really got the time to not only watch shows you claim to have not enjoyed in over 10-15 years but also spend hours arguing with strangers on the Internet about said shows? Wow.

  23. RIP to AMC's original Phil Brent, Mr. Richard Hatch :(

  24. Didn't expect to feel so somber while watching this MTM marathon, but just the sights and sounds of this show take me to another place.

Uh-oh.  First, Mary Tyler Moore; and now, Mike Connors.  I'm REALLY hoping 2017 won't be another 2016.
