  2. I think it's helped that I can't even remember the last time I watched the show with any regularity, because I've been enjoying it more than most it seems. I pretty much said this before, but if Robin Mattson were in the role, the Heather/Laura material would have been my favourite stuff so far this month. I'm happy to see Heather get some depth and the introspection/bonding it's led Laura to have about and with her has been fascinating. The honing in on the passage of time and life not working out like you thought it would was inspired and empathizing work, where I think Alley Mills toned down the mania and made Heather human again. Still, I don't need her around without Mattson, and would still write her out with the writing finally giving her the respect that it's lacked since she returned in 2004.

Adam Carrington as John Cates (weird white washing aside) has been one of the strongest parts for me. He really is a great actor and I'm always curious to see what he's going to do next. Whether he's staying around long term or not, I hope he maintains that grey area without becoming evil. In fact, this whole Jason return story has been so entertaining to watch and though I hope the mob3 don't eat the show again, it took no time at all to become invested in all the different facets of the story and how much people even beyond them that it's affecting, right down to the children of Port Charles. I enjoyed the much maligned (here) scene between Joss/Carly, where the conversation didn't end with a conclusive version on how the viewer should feel. (and randomly does anyone else think Joss looks like Miley Cyrus?).

Sue me, but I've genuinely liked Willow so far. I know she's been written as a Mary Sue in the past and understand how annoying that can be, but the actress seems pretty strong, able to portray nuance, subtlety, and subtext when she needs. I haven't hated Michael either, yet, and he got some points from me for choosing Willow and his family over Jason at the first sign real of trouble. At least he has some self-respect and respect for his partner, which I didn't expect (lol). I also think Chad Duell (and Steve Burton) still look great. I wouldn't kick either out of bed.

Which leads me to Dex; very sexy! Sorry, but no problems from me. I don't think he's been anywhere close to terrible. I'd get over it pretty quickly if he was written out, but I'm not opposed to him sticking around either.

This is obvious and doesn't need to be said, but Finola Hughes has been stellar. How lucky that we still get to see one of the (I believe) all time greats with such strong material almost 40 years later. I thought Anna looked weirdly like she'd been caught in a rain storm during the warehouse scenes, but she looked fabulous thereafter. I think I sensed some chemistry between her and Adam Carrington in those wonderful commiserating scenes at John's place. But honestly, he has good chemistry with a lot of the cast.

I alluded to it before, but the actress that plays Molly is the spitting image of Mary Beth Barone, a hilarious comedian who gets a lot of traction on TikTok. I can't stand the actress though so I say after Alexis gets her lawyer license back, kill Molly off and have TJ vs. Kristina in a custody suit, which leads Alexis to potentially face her sobriety and loss of her license (she wouldn't) again.

Sasha also needs to go, please. Unlike Willow, who she is compared to a lot, she gives me nothing. I guess Cody has to stick around for the Mac reveal, but if that means keeping her around, too, let's just skip it. The Deception scenes today were running around in circles a bit, but it enraged me to see Lucy so villainized when she did absolutely nothing wrong. I did think the writing was strong enough, however, to show distinction between the reactions of Brook Lynn and Maxie, which I was thankful for. What I wasn't thankful for was Spinelli. I've been surprisingly fine with him so far, but the second he did that annoyingly quirky stupid jump over the bench my hatred immediately came back in spades.

Speaking of Elizabeth, Finn has got to go. I tremble at the thought of having to watch Michael Easton portray mourning when Gregory passes. It's going to be brutal.

Random, but has that Asian male doctor been used before? I would try him out and if he seems like a strong enough actor, make him a regular. No to the cross-eyed one. It's nice that the hospital has an actual staff and that extras seems to be used reasonably well.

Anyone else find it disgusting that Cody/Olivia ate in the stables with the horse about two metres away from them? I'm talking poo particles if you don't see where I'm going with this. And does Cody live there? I saw stairs so I'm assuming. Also gross, if that's the case. And which kid was it that was in scenes with him and Tracy there? Literally, no idea.

Nina is the modern day Delia Ryan and you can't convince me otherwise. Her scenes with Drew having their tête-à-tête were quite fun. I wanted him and Jordan to bang for the hotness, but I want them to bang for the deranged-ness and to see Carly's head explode, but I guess that'll happen anyway when she finds out Nina's back at Crimson. Drew breaking up with Carly immediately, and now asking Nina to return to Crimson ... respect.

Kelly Monaco is still a sleepy actress. She came most alive when she got to tell Carly to politely eff off (and once she got out of that fugly top).

The Ashfords - Okay, so the misdiagnosis is settled, but what the hell was wrong with Marshall in the first place then? Or am I not supposed to ask? Or care?

    Sonny is Sonny.

  3. A soap opera jumping to conclusions, when the whole point of the genre is that we're supposed to be lucky enough to have time to see every beat of a story unfold. An insane choice! DAYS already proved how stupid it was. However, I'm in it for the insanity of it all. My personal 100% safe choices would be Tony, Cindy, Darren, Tom, Charlie, and the, IMO, underrated could be star, Dillon. Any of the rest I could easily come to grips with. I don't know how many they're keeping, but comparing it to when EastEnders first started with the same amount of time per week (one hour), they had about 30 regulars by the end of their first year, while Hollyoaks currently has 54.

I also wonder when the showrunners knew about the decision and if the characters they've brought on/their initial plans could be affected. Abe and JJ seem like they have obvious shelf lives, and I always thought Suzanne was brought back to eventually be killed off.

By the horrible way they've handled the reveal of Ste killing Ella, with almost everyone forgiving him in record time when he should have become the pariah of the village, it's looking unfortunately clear that he'll be sticking around. I wanted a whodunit or a prison exit where he's potentially reunited with Brendan. Leah/Lucas would go live with Mike/Zoe, and James would go off searching for Romeo.

With Scott leaving, and Andre/Vicky not getting any focus in ages, I could easily see them leave with him.

They're really building up these test results for Sally, so I'm guessing she could be dying.

Other than Ste, the only person I'm actively against staying is Zain, whose actor is atrocious. Chelsee Healey is lucky she's on maternity leave, because Goldie is always at the top of my axe list and will be again the moment she returns.

  4. It'll be so interesting to see what the layout of characters will end up being. How big will the main family be? A classic grandfather/mother, parents in the late 40's/early 50's, with 3,4,5 children. Maybe one or two off canvas at the beginning? It'd be smart to have a character/actor waiting in the wings to come in and stir things up at about the one year mark, ala Pat Wicks. Either way, if this comes to fruition later this fall or sometime in 2025, it's exciting to think how we'll all be glued to our seats watching that premiere episode.

  5. I know everyone wants Dex to get the axe, whether through hate or mostly indifference, but superficially I'll be sad not to see his pretty self. Turning casting conjecture into story speculation, if he does go, I had the thought that Joss might get pregnant with them recently sleeping together, but when she can't find him after he's left, and not wanting to be a single mother, she decides to have an abortion. Probably won't happen, but it's fun to care enough again.

  6. As a lapsed, but returned viewer, I have to take a moment to [!@#$%^&*] on the current opening. Embarrassing, cheap, lame!

I don't think I've ever seen a Molly scene in my life, but I don't like this current actress. She seems like some Tiktoker that got lucky and is now cosplaying as an actress.

During the scene with Sam/Kristina there was a moment of extremely clunky Passions type exposition/dialogue. Doesn't say much for Elizabeth Korte's talent if she wrote the script.

I didn't mind the Drew/Jordan scene in the gym. Cameron Mathison's biceps did the trick for me, and I wouldn't be mad at the prettiness of Drew/Jordan getting together, and then leaving town.

  7. I couldn't help but try and imagine Robin Mattson as Heather today in her scenes with Laura. The emotional weight of that scene just wasn't the same without her. Nice to have it all the same.

You have to laugh at Jason being a bad father the first chance he could.

I'm very thankful Sam got to finally change out of that hideous top.

The only people I have thought LW has ever had romantic chemistry with on GH was IR and SK's AJ .  Maybe early RH as Todd. She's great at platonic chemistry, but not great at romantic chemistry on GH.  I know she's had it in spades on other shows.  It's weird, but I don't think the people Carly interacts with play to her romantic heroine strengths.

Enter Paul Anthony Stewart as a Ric Lansing recast to play off their Loving past!

    I'm 100% kidding.

  9. Some thoughts after watching this past week after it's been years since I watched an episode ...

-I'm a Sonny/Carly/Jason/mob hater, but the warehouse scenes were full of suspense. The moment John turned things around on Anna because of Sonny/Robin was my favourite moment of the week. It jolted her awake. She seemed so much more like herself after that, especially when they got to Carly's.

-the Jason/Carly reunion was the next best part of the week. Wonderfully emotional, with the Bobbie mention the perfect example to showcase how much Jason has missed.

-the Danny actor is a bit of failure for me. The one playing Rocco was much more natural.

-Nina kind of gives me Delia Ryan vibes. No wonder Ava feels an exhaustive connection to her.

-I've never minded Alexis at the paper, but if they make her a lawyer again, so be it. Can someone remind me why she was (presumably) struck off?

-I genuinely like Dante. I hope he makes it through, but as a viewer I'm happy for the uncertainty on whether he'll make it through or not.

-Is it just me who thinks Joss looks like Miley Cyrus?

-It's great to see Tracy written like a human being and not a caricature and Brook Lynn actually LIKING her.

-I always hated Spinelli, but he was much more subtle this week then the nuisance I'm used to from years ago.

-It's fun to see the Jason news trickle out from one person to the next. As of today, 9 people know he's alive (Dante, Spinelli, Ava, Maxie, Sonny, Carly, John, Anna, and now Sam).

-I'm keeping an open/hopeful mind that Mulcahey/Korte can keep things wacthable day to day because God knows the interference they're about to endure.

How was he compared to Jason?  Have they forgotten that Jason wasn't "born that way," and that his "Stone Cold" persona is the result of extensive brain damage?

I only read recaps but, Danny was brought home by a cop friend of Dante's for underage drinking, which led to Sam fearing that he was like Jason who was an adrenaline junkie who was drawn to danger which is what led to his death.

  11. I'll continue to watch due to a sense of completion and nostalgia, but I have to tell myself The Conners is truly its own entity because it always comes off so amateur, rigid, and all the tears are embarrassing and cringe. Jackie is just not a watchable character at all anymore. Plus, in this episode it seemed like John Goodman was really struggling to enunciate every line.

Taylor is a millennial.  Millennials have a hard time acknowledging anyone over thirty.

Compare her to Miley Cyrus winning her FIRST Grammy and still taking the time to give major respect to Mariah Carey who presented it to her and it proves there really is no excuse for Billionaire Barbie.
