Home sick, so decided to catch the show today. I still DVR it, but haven't watched in at least 2 months. Anyway...
- I knew this was happening because of this forum, but catching it live and in person left me saying "WTF?!?!" Sharon and Adam cuddlin' up on the couch was gag-worthy. Horrible, horrible story and one that I don't want to watch. The only thing the least bit interesting with this story is - STILL - Nick and Adam's sibling rivalry (better with CE in the role). But I got the feeling that now even Nick is going to jump on the "Golly-gee Adam's a good fella" bandwagon. I hope I'm wrong.
- The redhead chick and "Hunter" (or whatever his name is) are annoying. I don't care one lil bitty bit about either of them. Another story that won't make me watch on a day to day basis again.
- Neil, Jill, "Tucker" and Kay having a business meeting in her living room? GL-like lameness. Not interesting. Not compelling. And the drunk biker lesbian chick is a waste of time. My speculation only - I think by recasting Tucker with the dude from DOOL is because they're re-writing history again and Kay actually gave up a SON. And it's Tucker. Still won't make me watch everyday.
- Love me some KS/Noah. If they built a good, strong story around him it might make me tune in. But Eden needs to go. Like yesterday.
Doesn't look like much has changed since I stopped watching regularly a few months ago. I don't want to feel this way, because after GL was canceled, I settled on Y&R being my soap. And I'm not going to start watching another one now. So either this show gets better and makes me want to watch, or I'll be another ex-soap opera fan. <sigh> -

As for Leah -- I think the only way they could've salvaged that one was to age her siblings/contemporaries, too. I didn't particularly want a new crop of teens running around, but if Jude and Zach had been made 15 or so, with James having been aged anyway, I think I'd have had an easier time swallowing it. It was still egregious, but at least I wouldn't have had to pretend she didn't exist.
Why did they age her, anyway? Was there ever any indication of what they were going to do with her as a teen?
Good question, Michael. As I recall, around the time DK/EW came up with this story, Rick and Mel were having problems and he was secretly boinking Beth at the Beacon. Once they Mel discovered the affair, I think they brought Leah in to help reconcile her parents? Who knows. There were some scenes in the Bauer backyard with the three of them tossing the football and all. Then a period of time that she didn't speak to Rick much and blamed him for the problems in their family....
That's the only "story" I've ever thought they used Leah for. If anyone has anything else, please let me know.
BTW, I think your suggestion that they should have aged Kevin, Jason, etc. was a good one. And IA it would have done some good in "covering up" the damage done by aging Leah. -

This is why I love these SON discussions, jfung. It's great that you related so much to Remy/Christina and their story. I've had my own couples - mostly on GL - that I loved and was thoroughly invested in their sotry as you were with RemTina. So I understand where you're coming from with your post.
However, for this viewer, these two were directionless and yes, shallow. JMO.

Mel and Rick never had any chemistry together and I was glad that Rick was finally freed from that shrew. It was really painful watching these two together.
ICAM that they never should have aged Leah the way that they did. I was simply saying that since they did it, they should have cast the role alot better than what they did so it wasn't a complete and utter disaster. But you're probably right - it would have still failed because of the destruction done to the history of the show.
DK/EW never did pay much attention to character aging/de-aging anyway. Look what they did to Susan/Daisy.
Shrew? I take it you weren't a fan of Mel's! -

MarkH, on 13 October 2009 - 08:42 PM, said:Nick-Adam had one scene together a few weeks ago, when TGVN was first rushed to hospital I think, where Nick warned Adam to stay away from Newman Enterprises. And Muhney adlibbed, I believe, "or what?"
That was a great, confrontation. Morrow apparently LOVED it, and told Muhney so.
Muhney and Morrow are both athletic dudes with wise-ass senses of humor. Neither of them takes this sh!t seriously, and they sure love the man-brawl scenes. They're pretty evenly matched, I'd say.
So, that sounds fun to me.
I liked that too, Mark. And am looking forward to them revisiting Nick/Adam's sibling rivalry. Admittedly, I think CE/JM had more chemistry as estranged brothers, but that could have been because CE shared more scenes with JM than MM has.
I'm not the biggest MM fan, but I'm willing to see what he'll do with this story. The Sharon aspect gives me a little pause but again, I'm keeping an open mind. What better way for Adam to get under Nick's skin (if he's doing this on purpose) than to hit him where it hurts: A-His job and B-The woman he's loved for most of his life.
This story has potential. I hope MAB can pull it off without making Adam do some of his crazy-ass stunts. Redemption arc? Maybe we will get to see some of that remorse once he gets closer to Sharon. Although the character has alot further to go than that.
I don't like the idea of Billy buying RS. But I am open to a Billy/Mac/Chloe/Phil4 quad. Yesterday with the four of them was entertaining. -
