I think his EW interview is even juicer.

EW: What was it replacing Terry Lester, who had previously played Jack Abbott, 20 years ago?
Peter Bergman: He had burned every bridge he could burn before he left. He had alienated pretty much everybody in the building. Had I showed up as anything less than an axe murderer, I would have been welcomed. That said, every lighting guy, every wardrobe person knew more about Jack Abbott than I did. That took some getting used to. Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) was very friendly to me but Eric Braeden was a big Terry Lester fan so his wasn’t the warmest welcome.

How did you react when the writers said, ‘By the way, you’re going to be seeing your dad’s ghost’?
Oh my God. I’m on the one show that’s based in reality and suddenly I am in charge of the f—ing ghost storyline? Oh, great! But you know what? I was wrong. In the end, it worked. It was Jack’s conscience coming back to him. He had lost his conscience.

It's the most violent show on daytime TV in America. But frankly that bar is set rather low.

Exactly! I don't even see GH as particularly violent. The shootouts look like little boys playing cops and robbers. That's not what a soap should be IMO, but I'll never really understand this idea that GH is the most violent show on TV. I can name at least 20 shows that have more violence, and much more realistic violence at that.

Poor ATWT. They've even promoted Jack and Carly's reunion, but for whatever reason viewers just are not tuning in.

General Hospital Is the Most Violent Show on Television
And why an A-list star would agree to be on it.

There was a comment in the other ratings thread re: Franco not being picked up in main stream media
and here is another one of the many articles that have been released re: his appearance
it also lends to our discussion of how soap operas are viewed by non fans (I guess)
sorry if it doesn't belong here I'll move it to its rightful spot
the joint is so big I get confuwse-ted sometimes.

I just read that article and anyone who thinks GH is the most violent show on TV doesn't watch a whole lot of primetime. GH has very fake violence and they hardly ever show anything graphic. I've seen much worse on Criminal Minds, never mind cable shows like Dexter.

    Don't be picky, Julia! :P

Thank the heavens that she still has a job. Any job.

I'm not that picky, but it's Ghost Whisperer for the love of God! Hell, I'd take any of the CSI's over that. Or even any of the Law and Order's, even though I really can't bear to watch straight procedurals any more. Anything, but the cheese that is GW. *sigh*

NOOOOOOOOOOO! Now I actually have to watch an episode of this hateful, annoying show. Why couldn't she be on something like Chuck, Flash Forward or V?

This is verrrry belated, but I really liked your post from back in February titled "Is the lack of diversity boring you?" -- very well put, and I totally agree with you.
