Even with Philip, I think there was plenty of scope for material, a lot of material, with Nina, Katherine and Jill, and Chance. Just about none of it was bothered with. They would have to go to a lot of trouble just to bring John back and then what? He would sit around chiding Jack and tut tutting over Ashley's love life (or lack thereof) There are so many more pressing issues the show needs to deal with.
