Anna DiMera's return to DAYS in 2008 after a 22-year absence not only brought back Leann Hunley (one of my favorites) but also me back to the show for awhile. Unfortunately it ended badly - Anna was always selfish and manipulative but in a fun way, so she never would have kidnapped a baby. Plus her friendship with Calliope was destroyed as part of that.

ATWT-John Dixon's return for the finale, Fannie Hughes, and Ben&Jessica.

Days-Carly, Steve/Patch, Sarah Horton

B&B-Karen Spencer

GL-Dinah Marler. Fletcher's return was the one that stood out the most despite no scenes with Holly. Not a return but was surprised when they finally acknowledged Roger's death.

Y&R-Gina at Katherine's real funeral, same with Dina at her fake one. Kurt Costner.

29 year old Jacqueline Schultz as 41 year old Patti Barron Tate Whiting on SEARCH FOR TOMORROW after a 9 year absence during which her mother, Jo, "died" and Patti was never mentioned. Even the death of Patti's never-before-mentioned adopted daughter, Sarah, didn't get Patti to Henderson for the funeral. A few months later, this incredibly de-aged character--once a contemporary of Janet Bergman, but now a peer of Janet's daughter Liza Walton--appears to mourn her adopted daughter, but never mentions the children she raised from infancy, Chris (adopted) and Tracey.

(Gretel) Rae was a weird one! Of course, it never would've happened without the Linda Dano effect, but that was really digging one out of the history books. Same with Echo, tbh.

Days has had a bunch of them. Anna was a pretty big surprise, especially since Carrie wasn't even on the show then. Jessica shocked me, too.
