All - Marriages where nobody cheated...

Happily married on soaps usually means back burner so often the writers have one partner have a one night stand or affair to provide some story.

Who are some married characters that succumbed to temptation and were led astray and who were those who managed to remain faithful and still remain active in the story?

Of course some couples were sacrosanct eg Tom & Alice Horton,Nancy & Chris Hughes.

Let's discuss soap marriages and which affairs were justified and what other devices writers used to break up couples.

Amy and Brick Wallace of SB were happily married and committed to each other until their union of less than a year was shattered when Amy was caught in an explosion at the beach bar where she worked. Sure, they had issues to deal with - mostly with family and with money (or lack therof), but nothing that ever got either to stray. They were pretty much in the thick of things the entire time both were on the show.

Yes,Chris and Snapper remained married while they were on the show. A few years ago when David Hasselhoff returned to the show as Snapper, Jill asked him how Chris was. They did have storylines that caused drama in their marriage. Casey Reed and Snapper became close during Chris absence and Jack (as played by Terry Lester) persued Chris at one point, but it never led to infidelity.

Well, it kind of depends. To me, ATWT's Jack and Carly never cheated on each other. There's an iffy instance of amnesia on Jack's part---but to me, if you're not sure of who you are or if you're married, it's clearly not the same as cheating or a ONS.

What's funny is that while they didn't cheat on each other, they cheated on others with each other. One of my most treasured ATWT memories is Jack sleeping with Carly days after he married Katie. It still sends a warm tingly feeling through me. LOL.

Joe and Ruth Martin (AMC) go into the sacrosanct category as well. They married in 1972 and besides a brief separation due to Joe's brief attraction to a Leora Sanders(no hanky panky of course because he's Dr. Joe!), they have been 100% faithful to each other.

Yes Bill Bell managed to keep Chris & Snapper together. They had the whole Ron/Nancy/Karen Becker drama to deal with and various other minor traumas but never strayed.

Paul Williams has been through several marriages - April,Lauren,Isabella,Christine but I don't think infidelity played a part in any of those marriages breaking down?

In their second go round Mac & Rachel Cory never cheated and stayed together for 6 years until his death.

Did Erica Kane cheat on any of her many husbands and did said husbands fool around behind Erica's back?

Leslie and Brad on Y&R never cheated as far as I am aware. They married in 1975 and divorced in 1978. She sort of dated Brock as the marriage ended but I think that wasn't until after the actual divorce papers were signed.

Two borderline examples on Y&R

Rex and Kay on Y&R, although he slept with Marge (he thought she was Kay) He also hooked up with Jill but after his "divorce" from Kay/Marge. When Rex and Kay re-married they never cheated as far as I know.

Drucilla and Neil on Y&R, can we count the Malcolm incident, since Dru was so out of it? It wasn't intentional anyway. When did Dru and Neil divorce? I stopped watching Y&R daily from episodes that aired in the US in 99 so not as sure of the storylines after that. Were they married when Neil and Victoria dated?
