Days: A Salem Surprise

From the new TV GUIDE:

Melissa Archer hits Salem on December 5th as Serena Mason, a globe-hopping journalist who had a romance with Eric Brady years ago in Africa, their affair ended when he entered the preisthood. Now that he's been defrocked, thanks to Kristen, he's one available heart throb

MA says Serena & Eric still have a very supportive friendship. She's like "wow it really sucks that your entire life got screwed up and you lost the thing you wanted most" but at the same time she's thinking 'Hey now I have a chance'

Serena's arrival is bad news for trash tv reporter Nicole Walker, who has long carried a torch for Eric, and things quickly turn violent. "It's not a soap opera girly fight, with a little bit of slapping & hair pulling" says MA. "These are two tough women. I won't say anymore, because it's so worth watching"

Why didn't they just make her Sarah Horton?!

She would've been the perfect fit with the red hair (like Maggie), and she still could've been paired opposite Eric. She would've already been rooted in the canvas and all the writers would've had to do was flesh her out.

Only plus side is that I hope that by Serena being a journalist that it leads to a work AND romantic rivalry between she and Nicole. I hope this also leads to Eric picking back up his photography, and eventually bringing back the Salem Spectator with Jennifer, Abigail, and Will joining the ranks.

That's one of the #1 issue with soaps today--no one goes to f*cking work and have work rivalries!

Of course she is. She can't be Sarah? My God they're FAMILY. HELLO TOMLIN! Jesus ... How hard is it. Instead we get a convoluted back story for a new character. So Eric has never once mentioned Serena in two years? Please.

Maybe she still will be but I doubt it. I have no issues with the character and it sounds promising but we shall see .... No reason they couldn't name her Sarah instead of you know a character that starts with an "S". Ugh. It's like they troll us.

After the flop that is Ben and Jordan, DAYS needs to go back to casting core characters only. No new characters because they just don't stick. Serena will be another flop under Tomlin's belt. I'm already prepping to see dreadful ass flashbacks in an attempt to make viewers side with Serena over Nicole when fans would've been split from the start had she just been Sarah--a character the audience has an instant connection to.
