This feels like the beginning of the campaign for Pratt's HW tenure.

Notice the radio silence following the announcement?

They know the reaction his hiring elicited. It was followed by silence and, now, a few weeks later, the start of trying to present Y&R as a budding success.

Notice, as well, how they talk about the better ratings without even mentioning the name of a headwriter--as if to imply that Y&R's growth is not the result of any specific writer(s) in particular.

However, they do mention (slyly, quickly) that a new headwriter has been brought in... as if that is some Great Event and will only help make things even better.

Meanwhile, no mention on what caused the revolving door of HWs, the cast turnover, all the crap.

Good try, bitches.

They keep doing the same old same old, recycle writers that wrote for other soaps who now is off the air. Only writing for a certain group of people. Putting non white people in a square storyline, we seen the results from their storyline before. Bringing back characters that they don't need right now. Recasting characters that they don't need right now. Casting characters they don't need right now.

Ratings is going to keep going down, what it should said the RISE and FALL of Y&R regardless who they think going to help. When all of them still got the same mind set.

Angie McD. is heavily involved with Y&R. She's protecting her own backside, and her own poor decisions, when she spins Y&R's lackluster ratings. She and Steve Kent tapped JFP as EP; they put Josh G, then SA and JP in charge, and the results speak for themselves. She and Kent have no one to blame but themselves. JFP is a disaster as EP (no surprise there!). Her Y&R is a yawn. Her numerous recasts have further destabilized the show. The productions values have declined (worst background music and lighting in daytime!) Y&R is now a generic soap, with nothing to recommend it except for some of long time cast members. Now Angie McD. finds herself on the defensive. She should be. She's micro-managing Y&R and it shows. I can't imagine anything getting better with Chuck Pratt's arrival. What amazes and astounds is how this group of hacks manages to stay in place, or go from one wrecked soap to another.

Again, the radio silence re: Pratt (no start date, no interviews proclaiming they will respect history and long-time character, no cast members talking about what great scripts they're getting!!!!) is very suspicious.

I dare not hope they've responded to the negative reaction the way I wanted but still... it's interesting.
