This week is the annual short week for US Open Tennis. There was no episode today, and no episode Friday September 5. Canadians, no episode on September 1 due to Global's coverage of the Deutsche Bank Championship (Tuesday's CBS episode aired on Global Friday August 29), and no episode on Thursday September 4.

This month marks Sharon Case's 20th year on Y&R. It is also the 20th anniversary of the arrival of Phyllis Summers and baby Daniel to Genoa City.

I don't remember the exact first airdate for Sharon Case, but I know it was in September 1994.

As for Phyllis, I remember her first scene was at Cricket's Legal Aid office and I'm pretty sure that was also in September 1994. The October 1994 scene you might be thinking of is Rex's funeral reception, where Phyllis showed up unexpectedly; I remember her introducing herself to Victor and a pregnant Hope, and possibly some of the Abbotts.

Phyllis' entire history is being rewritten before my very eyes. Suddenly, she was one of GC's most beloved citizens, and neither the town nor Jack and Summer will be the same now that she is "gone."

Would someone please kill Leland Palmer and put us all out of our misery? This story has been such a disaster.

So, now, Nikki was an alcoholic when she joined Ian's cult? Again, WHAT?!

For God's sake, SONY, bring back Kay Alden. If I can make amends with Vee, surely you could make amends with her. Heck, I'll even spring for dinner to iron things out between you two.

I'm not gonna lie -- I'd rather have Evie Garland break up Ian and Nikki's fight by joining her two index fingers than Stone Cold Dylan McAvoy.

I don't even want to talk about what happened when Dylan returned to Crimson Lights and bagged his bloody shirt -- a scene designed to create suspense for the viewer but just ended up being disjointed and confusing as !@#$%^&*]. No, really. I do not want to talk about it.

This is my first episode I've watched and weeks and I'm about 2.5 seconds away from rolling back over and taking a nap. This sh*t is abysmal. Sharon and Nick are hovering over fake Cassie in this sh*tty reveal. Nikki is sobbing and shaking in fear over this old fart holding a needle at her. Phyllis got all this crap on her forehead looking like some reject from a sci-fi film while Victor's mumbling ass sits vigil. Avery is talking about a husband we don't give a f*ck about, and Jack is about to move another woman into his family's home.

Hot ass garbage. I'm going to be the one to say, cancel this show. Right now. I'd rather Y&R be dead in the water than Altman and Pass-the-break-please eff this show up. Bill really needs to rise from the grave and gold Walking Dead on everything moving at that CBS studio.

ETA: These Nikki/Dylan/Ian scenes are horrid. Too hamtastic for me.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Jack and Kelly. I find their scenes excruciating to watch and I'm not exaggerating. Painfully boring. I was watching the other night and I could barely keep my eyes open.

Just makes me wonder how much Y&R has invested in CM. This is not working, IMO.

What can I say, really? You KNOW where this Kelly-moves-into-the-mansion stuff is going now that St. Phyllis of Genoa City has awakened. If they had taken the time to develop Jack and Kelly's relationship more, then perhaps I might feel more invested emotionally. (Although, something tells me you could take the next decade and Cady McClain and Peter Bergman still wouldn't have it. Cady would have made a much better long-lost daughter Jack never knew about, but I digress.) As it is, however, we're just marking time until the inevitable -- and who knows? It'll likely climax with Kelly becoming psycho and attempting to kill Jack and/or Phyllis, Stitch learning Kelly was their father's real killer (co-HW or not, this is still Jean Passanante in charge), thus getting HIM off the hook, and Kelly winding up either dead or fleeing town.

I'm not convinced Y&R is invested in much of any of these recent changes, other than giving off the vague impression of 'we're doing big things, hiring popular stars and making big moves.' Cady McClain, an AMC star! Gina Tognoni, a GL star! Eileen Davidson is back! Look at our hot new ancient Billy! You like Billy and Victoria, right? You like Stitch, right? Here he is with everyone! You like the creepy new stalker's chest? Now he's on all the time and he and Summer have a gigantic set!

It doesn't seem like they have any idea where any of this is going, what the bottom line is and how they will get there, other than that JFP is still determined to make Steve Burton happen at all costs.

I'd be looking forward to a story where Sharon works hard to build a relationship with a reluctant Mariah...except I know better. Oh, Mariah might turn a cold shoulder to her newfound birth mother NOW, but in a few months, it'll be as if Mariah has been there all along.

I'm done with Nikki. After everything you have been through, from Nick Reed to Rose DeVille to Tony DiSalvo to Norman to Rick Daros to Veronica Landers to David Chow and everything in between, you can't cope with some two-bit charlatan who had you in his nothing little cult eons ago? Come on!
