How should the Canvas of Daytime look to make SON positive?

I am a bit tired of the constant bickering, and repetitive topics, of how the soaps suck so I am wondering on how daytime should look to stop the bickering.

Ok, I honestly didn't mean for that opening line to read that way. I meant it along the lines of:

What would Daytime look life it it where perfect? Such as, who would be writing, acting, directing, etc?

1. You're on the wrong forum then. SON (IMO) is the most blunt, honest soap forum online. We're not going to sugarcoat anything and that's why I love this forum.

2. I don't think there's bickering. Differences of opinion, yes.

3. You need to send these concerns to TPTB. If they'd stop hiring the same writers, who deliver the same bullish*t then we wouldn't complain. Yes, in writing there are about 5 types of stories you can tell but most of these writers don't even try and be original. Most of us just want simple stories that respects the show's canon and characters and provide us with a logical exposition, climax, and denouement. 99% of current soap writers can't even give us that. They are too busy wrapped up in sensationalizing stories for cheap thrills instead of giving a well thought out story that impacts the characters and the audience.

Not really. I like Claire [because she's a competent writer], but I'm more of a Curlee/Bell/Marland/Lemay boy.

They all had different styles but they knew the show they were writing for. Curlee acknowledged that GL was a family oriented show. Marland did the same with ATWT as well. Y&R was Bell's show and he wanted the show to be old Hollywood with psychological and dark aspects to it. Lemay wrote AW as the strong community-type show it was known for.

None of the current writers respect the themes or strong suits of the show IMO. They'd prefer to project their own ideas of what their respective shows should be instead, hence why people aren't connecting to them.
