SEPTEMBER CH-CH-CH-CHANGES...NEW PRODUCER, NEW COSTUME DESIGNER, NEW HEAD OF MAKEUP: Randy Dugan has joined "Days of Our Lives" as a coordinating producer, effective with the September 30, 2013 episode. He replaces Tim Stevens, who had been in that position since June 2008. Dugan's most recent post was as the Executive in Charge of Production for The World Poker Tour. He previously had stints as a Vice President at Ex Nihilo, Inc., Hollywood Interactive Group and Bunim-Murray Productions...What was reported months ago has finally taken place on-screen: Costume designer Richard Bloore has returned to his post at "Days" after a five-year absence, with his first episode airing on September 24. He replaces Jayne Marie Kehoe, who had been the costumer designer for "Days" since August 2008. With Salem still being the "same day", expect some of the wardrobe to still be from the Kehoe era for the next week or so. Bloore, 58, started his career working for a rock-and-roll designer in the late 1970s. He started his soap career as the costume designer for "Santa Barbara" from 1984-1990. Bloore then joined "Days" as its costume designer in April 1990 and stayed with the show until August 2008. He was Daytime-Emmy nominated for his work at "Days" in 1997, 1999 and 2006. In an interview Bloore did in 2011, he stated that "I just hope I will get another chance at being a part of that family feeling (at work) again." Well, that chance has now come...As previously announced, Nicky Schillace, the husband of Lauren Koslow (Kate), has been named the head of the makeup department at "Days." His first episode aired on September 30, 2013. Schillace has big shoes to fill as he replaces Gail J. Hopkins, who had been in the position since February 1994. Ms. Hopkins is the record-holder for most Daytime Emmys won for "Days", with a record five Emmys, two more than any other individual in "Days" history. Schillace has been in the makeup business since 1973. He started his career in daytime at "The Young and the Restless" from 1984-1986, which is where he met his wife and won a Daytime Emmy in 1985. He also has worked at "Knots Landing" (1988-1993) and "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1993-1999).

FIRST 5-DAY "SAMI-LESS" WEEK SINCE JULY 2011...ALSO SAMI'S LONGEST ABSENCE SINCE MISSING 6 EPISODES IN MARCH 2012: Alison Sweeney (Sami) was absent for the entire week (September 23-27, 2013) this week on "Days." Since August 2011, this is just the second time that Sweeney has missed 5 or more episodes in a row. She was absent for 6 episodes in a row from March 8-15, 2012. This is also the first 5-day "Sami-less" week since the week of July 25-29, 2011, during a stint when Sweeney was absent for 11 episodes in a row (July 21-August 4, 2011). Sweeney did put in a appearance behind the cameras though, as the director of the September 27 and September 30 episodes.

JAMES SCOTT LEADS RANKINGS FOR FIRST TIME SINCE JULY 2012: James Scott (EJ) led the monthly rankings in September 2013 for the first time since July 2012. Overall, this is the 26th time Scott has led the monthly rankings.

These are all according to my calculations (of course Jason's word is the final say! :) but in the month of September we've had some HUGE changes in episode counts for actors and characters! Here's a rundown for fellow DOOL nerds who find this as fascinating as I do! :)

As of the end of September 2013

1) The character of Sami Brady has now appeared in more episodes than the character of Alice Horton. Sami Brady's 3321 appearances now push her ahead of Alice Horton's 3315 appearances to place Sami Brady as the 5th most appearing character and pushing Alice Horton down as 6th most appearing character in DOOL history. ( Note: This include ALL actresses who have played the role of Sami Brady... Ali Sweeny has not yet appeared in more episodes than Frances Reid.. however, that will be happening in the next year or so if current trends continue.)

2) Lauren Koslow joins the 2000+ club!!! Lauren Koslow appeared in her 2000th episode on September 26, 2013 and joins the 2000+ club. Lauren becomes only the 16th actor to appear in 2000+ episodes in DOOL history. Congrats Lauren!

3) Melissa Reeves has now appeared in more episodes than James Reynolds. Melissa's episode count now stands at 2371 to James' count of 2369. Melissa moves up to 12th in the ranking of most episodes by an actor, pushing James down to 13th.

4) Joe Mascolo has now appeared in more episodes than Edward Mallory. Joe's episode count now stands at 1745 to Edward's 1740. Joe moves up to 19th in the ranking of most episodes by an actor, pushing Edward down to 20th.

5) Nadia Bjorlin has now appeared in more episodes than Charles Schaughnesey. Nadia's episode count now stands at 1146 to Charles' 1144. Nadia moves up to 34th in the ranking of most episodes by an actor, pushing Charles down to 35th (they had previously been tied up to this point). - This of course could change quickly with Charles Schaughnesey reprising his role of Shane Donovan next month.

6) Eileen Davidson has now appeared in more episodes than Patsy Pease. Eileen's episode count now stands at 1072 to Patsy's 1069. Eileen moves up to 37th in the ranking of most episodes by an actor, pushing Patsy down to 38th.

Hey Jason - I saw on another site you posted that with Lauren's 2000th episode she becomes the 15th actor to hit that milestone. I had her as the 16th. I had included Josh Taylor who I had down as appearing in over 2400 episodes with his appearances as Roman and Chris K... Just wanting to check with you on that

I always keep Josh separate with his 2 characters, but I guess if you added both, then yes, he'd be over 2,000 as well. Thanks for reminding me yesterday about Lauren hitting 2,000. I would have probably overlooked it, so thanks for letting the milestone not go unnoticed :)

No problem! I hope I never "steal your thunder" on the stats and rankings. I SOOO appreciate your work on them but I LOVE to celebrate the milestones and who is moving up/down the rankings. Glad we can work together to celebrate the milestone's like Lauren's 2000th! :)
