He didn't try to sway her either way and was clear that it needed to be her choice, and that was right after he'd lost Leora. Since then though he's lost 2 additional children, one of whom was murdered right in front of him, he lost a wanted pregnancy with Krystal, and Trevor turned out to be Jake's son. He went to jail believing that Cara was truthful when she said she wanted him in their child's life. Then she lied to him about a miscarriage, cut off contact for five years, and then screamed at him that she terminated her pregnancy because he is such a despicable human being. I don't blame him for being pissed off, especially since she made it clear before the end of the show on ABC that she absolutely would have the baby.
