Hostages

HOSTAGES, from executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer, is a high-octane suspense drama starring Emmy Award winner Toni Collette as a premiere surgeon thrust into a chilling political conspiracy when her family is taken hostage by rogue FBI Agent Duncan Carlisle (Dylan McDermott). Dr. Ellen Sanders (Collette) and her family are held captive in their home by Carlisle, a desperate man doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, who orders her to assassinate the President (James Naughton) when she operates on him. His highly skilled accomplices include his brother-in-law Kramer (Rhys Coiro), whose loyalty to Carlisle will be tested; quick-tempered and intimidating Archer (Billy Brown), an ex-military man with a razor-sharp tongue; and the only woman involved, Sandrine (Sandrine Holt), a mysterious last-minute replacement to the team. With her family’s life in peril, Ellen faces an incomprehensible moral dilemma in order to save her overbearing husband Brian (Tate Donovan), her secretive daughter Morgan (Quinn Shephard) and her not-so-innocent son Jake (Mateus Ward). In this high-stakes standoff between Ellen and Carlisle, fraught with tremendous national and personal consequences, the choices between right and wrong become even more blurred.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, Rick Eid, Omri Givon, Rotem Shamir and Chayim Sharir are executive producers for Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television.

I really liked it. it wasn't amazing or like scandal level, but i liked it. love dr. ellen! the plot always had me on the edge of the seat and i was hooked. could of done w/o the cheating husband, druggie son, and pregnant daughter. i wish they did something different besides the typical stuff writers do for characters. i'll be watching it! i know its only gonna last a season, since its one of those shows and the ratings were bad, but im gonna enjoy it.

It will be 15 episodes.

I wasn't impressed. It should have been edge-of-your-seat thriller and, instead, I was mostly waiting for it to end. All of the big surprises of the pilot were given away at the promos, and its become a bit cliche that every single character has their own secret. Like, big surprise! the husband is having an affair. The teenage daughter is pregnant. The son is doing pot. Groundbreaking!

On the plus side, I am a little curious to see why this is all happening--it's clear already that the Carlisle and his team are not evil and do not intend to harm the family, so it'll be great to see what ways they can find to change that intention. Also, Ellen's look at the camera in the end was nice. I see potential. Hopefully it'll get more interesting if the whole damn plot hasn't already been revealed.

Also, it only had 7.5 million viewers. If the numbers go down, I think even 15 episodes may be a stretch for CBS lol

I liked it but too bad the ratings were bad. I think it has 2 strikes against it....one....it has a bad lead off with other CBS shows.....and two...the other two networks have better lead off with their 10pm shows...but if the show is good people should be watching...a la CBS big hit...Under The Dome.

Boring, boring, boring. In retrospect, making it so clear that the kidnappers don't want to hurt them is zapping all the tension out of the story. You know the characters will not be harmed, so what's the point of fretting for them? How much more exciting would it be if Duncan had shot Brian non-fatally? There is just no real fear for these people, it's all manufactured.

And it had 5.96 million viewers? I'm surprised it's even getting an episode 3. I'll be general and says it'll last until episode 4 or 5. Then, it's gone.

It will more than likely wont be back. I thought it was a one season show but apparently not. I missed a couple of episodes and was lost at the end...I thought the ending was rather flat but didnt realize there would be more seasons had the ratings done well.
